  • Magnificent- long live Fela and Ginger. magnificent music. That is all that matters.

  • Still great after all these years!!

  • We were a group of teenagers from south america who loved the rock. We heard this song and we began to dance in the street and nobody knew what kind of music was that we liked

  • Some oyibos no wan let man pickin res. Who be dis Ginger Baker wey jus de show de drums. Fele na Fadah.

  • Fela night in London very soon

  • Fela Kuti + The Afrika 70 + Ginger Baker | Ye Ye De Smell | The Afrika 70

  • I don't think neither Fela or Ginger Baker would appreciate this inexorable scale of disrespect. Simply enjoy the conjugal creation of their unprecedented zenith of musical ingenuity.

  • Of of the best hits of FELA... I LOVE THIS SONG DIE.... ESPECIALLY THE DRUM PART AT THE END...

  • mis tios tienen este LP. lo he bajado en cd. y me gusta el ritmo de ginger

  • thanks, for the post. this is spectacular. peace.

  • you stupids arguing about Ginger this and Kuti this. You ever thing they might have just wanted to play and are enjoying themselves. Personally I can't believe he Baker is stil alive

  • ...people, do yourselves a favour and go and listen to the *full* track - no point in eating a sandwich without the filling. And thanks YouTube for reminding us of one of the reasons why the great man got little or no airplay.

  • historic .love and respect in abundance.

  • magnifico.

  • fela & ginger....... respect.......

  • Fela in session with Ginger Baker and Tony Allen is still the best drum session to come out of Africa. Tony Benson had tried to beat the the quality of the session to no avail, Tony B and Tony Allen being the best drummers in that era in Nigeria.

  • Fela in session with Ginger Baker and Tony Allenis still the best drum session to come out of Africa. Tony Benson, Remi kabaka, Dele and Soji Fajemirokun and some others are other drummers of good quality that age.

  • ginger no smell.....he tek is bath

  • the drumming in this song is between tony allen and ginger baker if you think this is tight you should hear their drum battle on the same album.

  • No one did more to help Kuti break out of being a regional favorite to international acclaim than one Englishman,Peter (Ginger) Baker -selflessly.Yet he merits not a word of recognition.

  • @TumbrelJockey He does from me! I bought this album because of Ginger when it came out and then became a lifelong Fela fan. Great stuff.

  • @TumbrelJockey you focus on fela kuti's career through ginger baker instead of thru kuti. thats your problem. im not sure why you say selfless instead of to create great music with two great musicians, which is not a selfless act. kuti's career was great without baker, you seem to think ginger baker should be given some moral credits for taking kuti's career out of the "dark & uncivilized" african continent

  • @evanmatthews08 Your seething hatred can be felt in your choice of words.it is based on your insecurity."Dark continent" ? That was your assumption chump.Since you brought it up.Baker probably saved his life by enabling him to get international attention, thus taking him out of the crosshairs of the junta that was his sworn nemesis & ultimately killed his mother. When female circumcision and infanticide ,cannibalism ,tribal genocide are no longer practiced, then open your fat mouth.ingrate.

  • @mLADL2k You left out all the horrible things the English did.

  • @TumbrelJockey Fela's talent and genius stands on its own. White people are always trying to claim credit for stuff they have nothing to with.

  • @TumbrelJockey Also it wasn't selflessly, if so why is his mug and name on the album cover and listed in the credits. Baker was doing what ever other English had done to Africans...EXPLOIT THEM, and than pretend like you doing the African a favor.

  • @shifragri Such hatred.Such a negative emotion Asssssssshhhhhhhaaaaannnte :-)

  • ginger and fela were good friends, you honestly think ginger needed the publicity at the time, cream folded 2 years earlier, felas name headlines, this was two friends jamming, two names that could be equally exploited both sides of the world, you think fela complained that he sold a few records on gingers name?if you do your fooling yourself, you sir are an oxymoron.nobody doubts felas talent, dont make it a forum for your displeasure in life, fela did alright and would have black white or grey.

  • Hello @coogo2

True words indeed Im sure some guys sit behind their laptop/p.c. spreading hate. The late Fela and Ginger Baker, Got to get together for the love of music no more no less. Its a shame some folk have to find bullshit where it may not exist.

Music as far as i'm concerned should spread love peace & good times. the Ethnic make up of the person should not be of importance.

  • @shifragri And you're an idiot. Ginger went to Africa to study rhythms. There he met Fela. Ginger lent his name to this live recording and because of it Fela became known all over the world. And he got EVERYTHING DUE him: songwriting and performing royalties. Ginger got some performing and producer royalties. But he didn't sign Fela to a contract of any kind. Fela was a political activist. You knew that right? If anyone would have said something about "exploitation" it would have been Fela.

  • @TumbrelJockey Boy, I can't believe the discussion that's started since the last time I was here friend. Now of all sudden Ginger was "exploiting" these musicians? He went there to study African rhythms and became friends with a political activist musician. Lending his time and name made the album a huge hit yes, but Fela reaped the benefits, as did many others. I believe this was the beginning of the world-wide love of Afro-beat and then World-beat. Sheesh. Good luck with these clown.

  • @TumbrelJockey but cream sounds dated and this doesn't... it was just as good a move for baker as it was for kuti... eric clapton gave up on being cool... now he's just a tired old jukebox... fela will always be chill, because he was a movement unto himself till the day he died...
