One of these times I'm hoping I can just read some comments SOMEWHERE ....and i don't have to see IAN GILLAN'S name spelled WRONG! (ahem sorry Metalbob) : )
vids from denmark concert ;-( Im still dreaming to see child in time real images from the maiden japan album...wanna see blackmore tunning his guitar again during the solo I can hear it. Shiiit
@Firstcontact You have understood.. The title of the DVD is Deep Purple' S MADE IN JAPAN, also I know that are not footage of Mij (do not exist in network), but the songs are the same of the concert of 1972 in Osaka! It is not a FAKE... Ciao
All in all a great vid, but I do have a bit of a problem with the fact that they didn't use any of the actual audio from the "made in japan" recordings, somewhat disappointing...
Why would somebody give you the thumbs down for calling MiJ a masterpiece and DP's music world patrimony? Surely not because you said it in Portuguese. You never know though, there's some real thickos out there.
I agree with the classical element. And as said, this definately influenced Malmsteen. But Since we're also talking about Hendrix here... The last year or so of Hendrix' life he started leaning strongly against jazz and incorporating jazz patterns and rhythms in his music. Unfortunately this is not so absent in his more populair songs that most people know. More in demo's etc..
But just to give Hendrix even some more credit as he did this before blackmore.
Blackmore is influenced by Hendrix (Speed King, many Songs of Mk 1; technical: tremolo, bending, feedback etc). But Blackmore is much more technical. Child in time solo has nothing to do with hendrix...more with jazz or classic
I ever read in guitar magazine, Blackmore said he got influenced by Hendrix but also said he take one step ahead. To me, Hendrix too much tempos but Child in time is really speedy and exshausted. Hendrix is very very good, I also admired him but i prefer Blackmore. I agree what Brad Tolinski (Chief in auditor-Guitar World) said, People like Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads picks alot from Ritchie Blackmore.
About Malmsteen.. The thing that always made me laugh is M. talking about how he did and learned everything himself, how he's so super, and just having a big ego in general.
But actually he's nothing more than just a mix of Hendrix and Blackmore. From technique, to guitar, to amps, and even to clothing style and ego.
We're talking about scalloped fretboards, jewellry, "excentric" clothing...
He was so obsessed with the 2 that he exaggerated in his copying. excessive jewels, heavy scalloping....
The guy with the ferrari hat mentioned somehting about an operation for gillan's voice. anyone know what hes talking about? if there's an operation for a voice like that, im gettin it!
I think he was making a joke saying he can sing such high notes that he got his balls removed I think thats what hes referring to when he says operation. You still want that operation? Haha.
i cant go quite as high as gillan but i can hit the notes in child in time after about 6 years of practicing on my range. keep trying man and eventually you'll get there. just dont throw your voice to hard. make sure you can actually sing the notes, once you can hit the notes naturally, then add the screaming tone to it. and always make sure to warm up, maybe with scales if you like before singing high.
i think the live guitar solo is honestly much better. so are the vocals. i'd have to say through and through there isnt a single track on made in japan that wasnt better than the studio verssion. thats just me though. i still love the originals.
i agree completly...i am in somenirvana when i listen to that original solo....and this guy talks crap...this solo and richie blackmores work dont have to do nothing with jimi hendrixes...and vocals too are way better in original song
Your structure of sentence is a failure... Sorry to say. But if Blackmore was influenced by Led Zeppelin later on, then definitely he was influenced by Hendrix, and of course he was influenced by Hendrix. x)
@LinkBulletBill what ever bullet head what are u a school teacher are something.ritchie was influenced by artist from like the 50s so was hendrix an page they did'nt invent rock an roll they just took it in to the higher power of pumped up rock no one person invented this thing called HARDROCK u need to study more outside the box like blue cher are do u even know who they are..the who was there before hendrix..hendrix was still small time in 1964 was u therer u like 65 yrs old
Okay... Prepare to get owned. Yes... All these artists were influenced by the 50s. I never said Page invented rock. I'm just saying Ritche heard Led Zeppelin II and saw that he wanted to move Deep Purple in a direction with that style of heavy rock music. You need to take History Of Music classes. And you're the one who has to do research. Silly you. If you reply with another pretentious comment, then I'm probably guessing you're a troll. Goodnight (on my side of the hemisphere).
IMHO, the studio version is technically brilliant but most of it sounds like it was added after other tracks were laid down. But the live version is real music, played do-or-die in front of thousands. For me one of the best rock guitar performances ever, in or out of studio. Together with JL's hammond solo and Gillan's vocals it is also one of the best rock piece's ever recored (Paice's drums, as always, essential to the whole thing)

What kind of tremolo is he talking about?
(5:38)

He is talking about the tremolo arm on the guitar. Not about tremolo as a musical term.

Yeah i know, but what kind of tremolo arm is he talking about then?

yes, i agree with you malmsteenfan, Ritchie Blackmore is the 1st one who put jazz and classical element in rock history.
