Interestingly enough I have a new teacher, who is from Turkey an I asked her about these gestures. She said that is my dance; the dance of my country. I thought I knew Turkish (1979) not until I saw this and now studying with a great teacher!
She;s such an amazing dancer, with so much energy and control! One of my favorites... I'd love to take one of her workshops! Please come to UK one day...
