everyone saying give them a break this is a high school production. SOO if its a high school production. High Schoolers can be professional. My School did it this year and was told by several College professors that our shouw could have toured broadway. This show is weak.
@kitathewhitewolf True, but at the same point... you can't always compare one high school to the next.. the entire student body in this school is maybe 600 of which the choir consists of maybe 60 (gr.9-12) on a good year. A large portion of the singing cast in this show were underclassmen or instrumental students that had never sung before.. and furthermore, a good handful of them were junior high students.
@kitathewhitewolf I'm a good deal older than these kids but came from the same program under the same directors. If you don't want special treatment cuz it's hs, post videos of your show and I, as a professional singer, will listen and give it a critique... Chances are, you're not gonna live up to my standards either... That doesn't mean I should bash you, though.. Either way, you're just high school kids.. There's a lot more work to do and things to learn as musicians at your age still.
@torosax There are videos of their procduction on here though I am not for certain where they are. I have professional training as well. So its not like i'm saying this because I want to be rude. I'm simply saying that it could be better. Also, their choir had 45 in this show. its not a matter of numbers. its a matter of doing the show the best you can. Also, I am no longer a high schooler. I've been out of school, 3 years this year.
@kitathewhitewolf for one thing this show is very hard to do. I was just recently in this show and in order to really pull it off it's a ton of work. High schoolers are capable of high level but I've seen college level shows of Titanic and they were just as good as these guys were, which isn't very impressive. This show will challenge any actor who is in it no matter the age. Even a high school production can catch you off guard, these guys did. Good job
how old is kate magowan supposed to be? cause im thinkning of auditioning for that part. im 14 but i look about 16. what song should i auditon with? something from les miz?
This is one musical I wish my highschool had done while I was there. I would have loved to play Kate McGowan, and get to sing some of that magnificent music. But I think you need a super-strong ensemble to pull this show off.
We ended up doing (and rocking) CATS in my gr.12, so I was happy. :-)
I think this musical is inappropriate for high schools. First, it's not a very good musical; second, the score is pretty difficult; and third, it's just topically not something that most fifteen year olds can really connect to.
High schools should really stick to things like You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. I have yet to see a high school production of Titanic or Les Miserables, for instance, that works.
I've seen a high school Les Mis that would have you shit on yourself it was so good. Don't count highschoolers out...even though their TOMORROW'S broadway stars, they can still put on an ah-mazing performance.
The score is definitely difficult and it's tough to connect...but I wouldn't say it's inappropriate. Especially if you have some strong vocalists, both male and female, you can pull it off.
@wolfmusic92 i was in my bros high school production when they did it i saw the other cast and the school was super good it was wonderful i bet yours was to
@riku92mr ok this is high school ppl cant be perfect lets c u go up there and sing that song i bet u would be worse than they r cause they r good u probably wouldnt get casted for ur musical
im sorry but this isent the best verson i have sceane . the giels are out of tune .. altho the guy tht sings is the best.. and wen you sing as a group altho its not mad but thy guy thet sings i want to b a millionare is shoddy and t gose dawn dawn dawn dawn hil from ther =]
My High school is doing this in the fall! I'm a freshman so I'll be lucky if I get a part because they cast all the major roles in the end of the school year. Maybe the bell boy is still available?
Shes the best Kate I have seen!

Sorry...Titanic: The Musical is a GREAT musical. Great melodies, great harmonies, great lyrics.
Yes, the score is pretty difficult...which is why it works!

@jrs307nyu
I think that it totally depends on the cast. My school did it and it was awesome.

the guys CANNOT SING...guess that's why you got THIRD CLASS.
asianactor05 4 years ago
ok my school did this and we kicked ass and i got farrell and on par of class i can sing, and pretty good at that!
toddo15 3 years ago
Only person I thought was decent was whoever played Kate McGowan.
Other Kates could tune up a bit (project your voices!).
All the men except the German men were extremely bad. Sorry, but why are you in the music business?
Enemble - great job!
riku92mr 4 years ago
Oh, and by the way, what happened to the Irish accents on the Kates?
It's "person" while singing, not "persin".
riku92mr 4 years ago 2
....it's highschool musical theatre...
torosax 4 years ago
So? xD
Last time I checked, I'm in high school, and we're doing this musical, and EVERYONE has perfected their accents.

just a quick comment, just wanna point out that the other two Kates were a freshman and a sophomore and kate 3 didn't have a mic

@45watsup My school did Titanic 3 years ago. And I was casted in it. I wasn't in this song, but I was in plenty more. Jokes on you I guess.

The 3 kates are great in this production
So were thayer and widener
however Guggenheim and the Major weren't quite that great in this song
I have guggenheim in my school this year, and I hope that I do better than that
