  • They were NOT experimental locomotives but they were unusual locomotives. They were designed by GE for the Milwaukee Road for their passenger service in the Cascade mountains. There were only 5 of them made because that's all the Milwaukee Road needed to protect their existing passenger train service. Westinghouse built 5 locomotives at the same time for these same passenger service in the Rockies. The two locomotives did essentially the same thing but went about it in different ways.

  • Well Done, thanks for the info!

  • wish u walked around it so we could see more of it

  • I couldn't, it was in between two locomotives

  • nice

  • The Illinois Terminal Class B coupled to it is almost as rare. There is one that is operable at the Illinois Railway Museum.

  • cool thanks for that info in that Illinois terminal class B I was wondering if thats what that was

  • It'd be nice to have a stretch of track with overhead catenary and a 3kv dc substation feeding it. Pity there's no 3kv dc electrified mainline in the US that could run it on under electric power.

  • what railroad museum is this

  • The Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, MO

  • cool thanks I didnt know St Louis Muselm of Transportation had one of these I really need to get there
