Just played this, and loved it. It's a shame that these fan projects usually never get finished though. Sega should hire these guys, and release the game on PSN, Arcade, and Wiiware.

Sonic's jump speed, gravity, accelleration speed, spindash speed, physics and every object in this game works like they did in the old games. Only a few good programmers can make it this good.

After seeing this, I'm glad to say that people do still know how to make an excellent Sonic game! Great graphics, including the sprites, amazing music choice (I expect to see Robbit as a cameo), the loops are expertly crafted and the speed is a perfect balance of running wild and paying attention!
What I'm seeing here is a love letter to the original Sonic Team of 1990. And that is a good thing in many respects. Looking forward to this - from a long-since jaded ex-"Sonic fan" :P (seriously, amazing work, chaps!)

She wasn't made by Archie, but a yellow-colored hedgehog named Amy was in a Sonic the Hedgehog manga in CoroCoro Comics, in 1992 (same goes for Charmy the Bee). But most likely, the Amy from the games was probably already made by then, seeing as Sonic CD was delayed by about a year (due to the fact that SEGA thought Sonic 2 was more important).
now THIS is a sonic game. it looks, plays, and FEELS like a genesis game... though it seems like its a 32X or SCD possibly... this could very well be the Sonic 4 we all wanted... but SEGA beat you guys with that new project needlemouse.. though this might still beat it
I actually looked up Sonic XG to find it was cancelled and replaced with Sonic Forever, which shares some of the same zones as XG was going to have. idk if it still uses the Retro Sonic engine though.
