Seems way late but i found that useing a deceptisol with the two kings by the tresure helps greatly, start with a rav/sen/sab with well light snow and vaille foucus on one with light vanille should have AoE spells and hit both of them and stagger them, once you get the debuffs com rav rav one out and the second one is easy as pie with sentinel on your padigrims, just make sure to heal when red.
did you get Ruinga for light from a mission? because I am in chap 11, like you are here, and have almost maxed on her Crys and I dont see Ruinga on the COM list.
Hey HCBailly did you notice that some treasure spheres have an exact amount of money? One sphere back in part 45ish had like 1853gil on cocoon, the one you got here was 2615gil. I smell a hint to when Vanille and Fang actually went into cristalazation.
XD I LOVE this area. I love just letting them see me, and then casually walking/jogging around in circles for a minute while they can't catch me. I once had Light w/ Sazh & Vanille, and ended up accidentally running around my two other party members, it was a big circle of Light running around Sazh and Vanille while they spazzed in circles in "sneak mode",XD. Ah, good times... :3
HCBailly, I come to think about something you said in one of the previous episodes. You said that you cant swim in most RPG, well Tidus could swim in Final Fantasty X. And, I miss that you put in some clips from other games or movies in the LP episodes, like "stay away from the summoner" - if you know what I mean
Lolz HCBailly TRIVIA: according to Lightning from Dissidia Duodecim, Thundaga is pronounced Thun duh gah.. not Thun dah guh.... You would think that Square-enix would know that a character who is the human personification of Thunder and Lighting should prounouce it right. XD
yea double behemoth kings arn't that hard, it's like taking 1 down dont let it transform, just focus on one then the other, also getting all debufs and buffing yourself up
I farmed the double Behemoth Kings for about an hour trying to basically mess around. I used Lightning, Sazh and Fang, and frankly it isn't worth it even if you can master the fight reliably. Everywhere else is superior CP and not as irritating.
As an aside, for some reason (at least on the 360 version) if a Behemoth King is Poisoned, when they transform, their HP won't refill. I don't know what causes it though.
I like immersion but only if you can skip it once you have gone through it a couple of times. The world of warcraft example is a good one the flightpaths are tedious going through them for a 5th-6th-7th time. Progression should also be in tendom with immersion.
I have to say, I'm really liking Gran Pulse. Kinda funny, since I usually prefer the urban areas in RPGs and MMORPGs. But something about the music and the landscape really clicks with me, if that makes any sense to anyone.
The two mission aren't EXACTLY the same, the first one had 4 Adroas, this one has 6. Strategy is pretty much the same, but the two extra ones can make a difference.
what worked for me to kill the behemoths, i used sab, sen, syn to get a few buffs on debuffs on then sab, sen, sab to throw a bunch of debuffs on then com, sen, rav to work on one of them, when its staggered com, com, rav to kill it after that ones killed stagger the other one then finish it with com, com, rav
@darianman567 Good strategy, unfortunately HC couldn't use that now because that requires some investing into at least one non-base class, as sab/sen/sab would require vanille, snow, and fang, which doesn't give you a synergist
But I want to ride a Shoopuf!! XD man that fog strains my eyes. How many frigging King Behemoths can you get in one area? I mean, at least cut back a little, jeez Square. The red wall of doom!! Undying? Oh noes, not another one!! Awesome episode HCBailly
@MonsterDany i think it's just for show, it also gives you a general idea of wha you've done, i know certain missions give you certain ranks, i think all Undying give a rank, and you can't fight an Undying without killing the previous Undying
@MonsterDany 5-starring all the mission is required for one of the trophies/achievements, and said trophy does unlock an XMB Theme on the PS3, don't know if it does anything on the Xbox 360 version.
@HCBailly if i may suggest a rpg called Enchanted Arms fore 360/PS3 it may be kinda rare since it was released in 2007 for the Playstation. Just thought I would suggest it
later in the game lighting is considered the best sentinel just because shes so fast the enemies will have their attention focused on her and wont be able to hit her. kinda nice lol
@sdoguber he live comments everything unless he specifically says otherwise. He also hasn't done an LP of FF:X. He has expressed that its not his favorite FF game, so he has prioritized other games that he enjoys more and want other people to enjoy with him. Like when he did chrono cross, not a huge amount of people knew the game when he did that one.
I think this is the result of people complaining about the FF10 being too linear and then complaining about FF12 being too open ended (I prefer FF12 approach much more). Here they tried to please both, and for the most part, I actually liked it. You can skip this area completely the first time and have very challenging fights and with how much fun the fighting system is, you don't mind losing multiple times.
im dissappointed. i really really really miss having airships you can control in the final fantasy games. they stopped it with final fantasy x! i dont know if FF XIII has one or not but that is one of my favorite parts of all final fantasys!
HCBailly: is it completely possible to tank at all with a magic using class in MMOs, while the Melee classes deal the heavy damage, or are all meleers forces to give up dealing damage for tanking?
You're not the only one. I like having some room to explore, but given a choice between being too linear and too open ended, I tend to lean towards too linear, especially in this case where the linearity and lack of backtracking make sense. If I wanna explore for hours on end, I'll play Super Metroid. I play RPGs for the story and characters, not for the atmosphere.
Also I hate taking forever to get anywhere. That's annoying and developers need to stop that.
im so gutted i got where HCBailly is now over 150 hours grinding and lost my save file because i went on another file and saved over it i am so pissed with myself for doing this i love the game but i dont love it that much to start again
HCbailly, you are my favorite LP'er by far. I absolutely love how thorough you are with your LP's and how you are able to maintain a good balance of seriousness and sillyness. It's obvious you put a lot of work into your videos and I really appreciate it. :)
Dear Hcbailly, i know i speak for all of us when i say, thank you for all your hard work over the Lp's you've done. I have FF7 for my psp, and let me tell you, i would have gone absolutly NUTS without your help. thanks again, Hcbailly. thanks a lot. btw, what other LP do you plan on doing after FF13? thumbs up to show Hcbailly that we REALLY appreciate him!
@nejisasuke12311 If you go to his page here on YouTube, you'll see a list of the LP's/Side LP's he has planned, and I think whatever's at the top is what's coming next. (And yes I did Thumb it up, even though I hate it when people yell "Thumb me up for (Insert reason here)"
@HCBailly I think they were trying to mimic the feel of having a world map to explore, because as Square Enix says, "The PS3, and X-Box360 don't have the technology to handle a world map like the PS1 did." I didn't hear them say this myself, and the person who told me about this might not have been quoting correctly, but that's what I heard is the reason for this, and the lack of FFVII re-makes.
10:28 - my take on the missions having the same boss was that maybe the first l'Cie to get the mission failed, so the fal'Cie gave it to someone else, who also failed. Dunno why it would respawn though.
They really make these missions annoying as hell to do, always placing them CLEAR ACROSS THE DAMN PLAINS. Seriously, I totally agree with needlessly making the areas so big, its downright annoying to travel across the land.
@burner27 Well, those in range. And it doesn't work for bigger stuff or, well, anything that comes later. It does stop summons for most of the imp summoners.
HCBailly I've noticed an occasional odd fog filter on the screen in both this video and the previous one. Is that the weather on Gran Pulse? Because it'd be nice to know more about that. And I eagerly await a video show easy ways to kick giant turtle but like with the Grand Dragon in FFIX.
@GigaCyan You can't do anything until after a certain mission. Based on what HCBailly said a few episodes ago, I believe it's mission 14. So there's a very good chance that you'll find out tomorrow (If not tomorrow, Tuesday)
@HCBailly When you get a Preemtive strike on 3+ enemies you can use Ruinga-Blitz with Lightning instead of quake, much more damage and keeps all the enemies staggered longer!
Those Rangda and what ever the other one is called are weak too Ice have sazh cast haste and en-frost, and then blits the centre them, you can take them out in less then 4-5 secounds
People can't really complain about the long, narrow paths and then also complain when they provide you with a wide open area. I actually kinda like how they did it here. Far better than that pseudo-mmo Final Fantasy XII.
@j800r I feel that one of the keys to enjoying an RPG is the feeling of progression, whether that be character progression, plot progression, or level progression. If I'm going to play a game for an hour or two at a time, I think that's a reasonable period of time to expect some progression. My problem is that so many games nowadays sacrifice way too much progression for immersion, and then do poorly on that. I can play for 1-2 hours without making any progress, and that's not fun to me.
@HCBailly I feel your pain. Yet unfortunately it's what is in trend now. FF XIII went for progression over immersion (except where you are now) and look how that ended. :\
The only game I've played that's placed immersion above progression and actually somewhat succeeded has been Morrowind. It is so easy to just get lost in that game for hours. Otherwise, I actually wanna get somewhere in the story/game rather than just moving to the other end of a huge island or whatever.
Final Fantasy X is probably the most fast paced game in the series (other than XIII) and that's why it's my favorite FF.
I really don't like the idea of staying in the same area for hours. I don't know what's wrong the with people who disagree. Seriously, guys who want an open world area to stay in for the whole game have no idea what Adventure/J/RPGs are about. So yeah HC Bailly, i agree with you.
Uh... you think there's something wrong with the people who disagree?
That's a bit close-minded and judgmental, in my opinion. People have different tastes in games, and "Adventure" and "RPG" have a wide umbrella of things they cover, they aren't one specific thing.
@HCBailly I agree although i found the levelling and gil grinding in this game to be extremely tedious and repetitive, especially when it came to maxing out the ultima weapons that just took forever. The most tedious part was trying to max ok the crysterium that just took forever and many many loops of the f warrens
Of course they can complain about both. They both suck. =D.
The key point is that they're both extremes, and from a design point of view, very stupid extremes. If you funnel a player along in tight corridors for long enough, they will rightly feel like they have no control over where they're going, despite the vast setting around them. If you plop a character down in a huge area with no way to boost speed of travel, that's tedious. It's not hard to strike the balance.
Is this game worth playing through? i have it on the 360 but i didnt like the ''Follow path A to get to B'' idea in it and yeah the other FF's were the same but they were more open than this one.
I... don't get the reference at the beginning. But meh.
Yeah, sightseeing in video games is so much prettier than sight seeing in real life. Who'd want to look at a big cleft in th earth that took millions of years to form if you can look at Archelyte Steppe or Dalmasca or Zanarkand?
And I agree on the traveling. Some worlds are just way to big and there are not enough warp points to get around.
Ooooooooh... the enemy in the mission you're going to do in the next part is hard! Well... not for someone who knows the game, but for a new player. I had to retry the battle 3-4 times to be able to win. I think it's pretty easy now though. For being the enemy it is at least.
just like some videos ago, you were complaining about long narrow hallways...

HCBailly, I know this off topic, but are you going to be starting Mystic Quest any time soon? Always have been one of my guilty pleasure games
MCalcapwn 10 months ago
HC Bailey,
Have you ever played a Disgea game? Since you make those Prinny refferences.
Demongunner7 10 months ago
Dear Hcbailly, i know i speak for all of us when i say, thank you for all your hard work over the Lp's you've done. I have FF7 for my psp, and let me tell you, i would have gone absolutly NUTS without your help. thanks again, Hcbailly. thanks a lot. btw, what other LP do you plan on doing after FF13? thumbs up to show Hcbailly that we REALLY appreciate him!
nejisasuke12311 10 months ago 5
@nejisasuke12311 If you go to his page here on YouTube, you'll see a list of the LP's/Side LP's he has planned, and I think whatever's at the top is what's coming next. (And yes I did Thumb it up, even though I hate it when people yell "Thumb me up for (Insert reason here)"
TheDragoon9713 10 months ago
@HCBailly I think they were trying to mimic the feel of having a world map to explore, because as Square Enix says, "The PS3, and X-Box360 don't have the technology to handle a world map like the PS1 did." I didn't hear them say this myself, and the person who told me about this might not have been quoting correctly, but that's what I heard is the reason for this, and the lack of FFVII re-makes.
TheDragoon9713 10 months ago
HCBailly, does this mean your soon going to fight a...Midboss?
or maybe Etna will just throw more Prinnys at you...
He11buster 10 months ago
10:28 - my take on the missions having the same boss was that maybe the first l'Cie to get the mission failed, so the fal'Cie gave it to someone else, who also failed. Dunno why it would respawn though.
kenezbian 10 months ago

@HCbailly I know how to kill two king bethomaoths at a low level. Can I make a video respone showing how?

HC Bailey when are you gonna cover what those yellow circles do cuze im stuck and i need to know how to unlock that
GigaCyan 10 months ago
@GigaCyan You can't do anything until after a certain mission. Based on what HCBailly said a few episodes ago, I believe it's mission 14. So there's a very good chance that you'll find out tomorrow (If not tomorrow, Tuesday)
Mathsavesme 10 months ago
@GigaCyan You have to complete all the missions up to mission 14, then you can use those yellow circles :3 Not going to spoil how just do it.
xxxmagexxxx 10 months ago
@xxxmagexxxx Actually, you can skip mission 10, and 11. I did.
TheDragoon9713 10 months ago
Too bad you can't use your summons in the Overworld map. I mean, they're all "vehicles", right? You could ride THEM all over the place.

@HCBailly When you get a Preemtive strike on 3+ enemies you can use Ruinga-Blitz with Lightning instead of quake, much more damage and keeps all the enemies staggered longer!

Prinny Squad! :D Disgaea is the best strategy game ever.

@HCBailly Nice job on the episode, dood!
Out of curiosity, did you use that reference from my comment from the previous episode? Either way, that gave me a great laugh and made my morning.

ChronaMewX 10 months ago
People can't really complain about the long, narrow paths and then also complain when they provide you with a wide open area. I actually kinda like how they did it here. Far better than that pseudo-mmo Final Fantasy XII.
j800r 10 months ago 5
@j800r I feel that one of the keys to enjoying an RPG is the feeling of progression, whether that be character progression, plot progression, or level progression. If I'm going to play a game for an hour or two at a time, I think that's a reasonable period of time to expect some progression. My problem is that so many games nowadays sacrifice way too much progression for immersion, and then do poorly on that. I can play for 1-2 hours without making any progress, and that's not fun to me.
HCBailly 10 months ago 35
@HCBailly I feel your pain. Yet unfortunately it's what is in trend now. FF XIII went for progression over immersion (except where you are now) and look how that ended. :\
The only game I've played that's placed immersion above progression and actually somewhat succeeded has been Morrowind. It is so easy to just get lost in that game for hours. Otherwise, I actually wanna get somewhere in the story/game rather than just moving to the other end of a huge island or whatever.
j800r 10 months ago
@HCBailly Hey HCB, have you ever tried Fallout 3? I've been watching your let's plays for a while and I think you would get into it.
TheNeoLoneWolf 10 months ago
@HCBailly
So yeah HC Bailly, i agree with you.
wiiner11 10 months ago
@wiiner11
Uh... you think there's something wrong with the people who disagree?
That's a bit close-minded and judgmental, in my opinion. People have different tastes in games, and "Adventure" and "RPG" have a wide umbrella of things they cover, they aren't one specific thing.
GayLPer 10 months ago
@HCBailly
As much as I enjoy FF12, I kinda have to agree with you on that.
I still haven't done every sidequest.
GayLPer 10 months ago
@HCBailly I agree although i found the levelling and gil grinding in this game to be extremely tedious and repetitive, especially when it came to maxing out the ultima weapons that just took forever. The most tedious part was trying to max ok the crysterium that just took forever and many many loops of the f warrens
futureechoes1 10 months ago
@j800r
JohnRayJr 10 months ago
Is this game worth playing through? i have it on the 360 but i didnt like the ''Follow path A to get to B'' idea in it and yeah the other FF's were the same but they were more open than this one.
So, is it Worth it or not?
Cloverfield089 10 months ago
Nice FFX reference, dood.
Jeez, The Archylte Steppe is friggin' huge. Definitely the biggest area in a game I've seen in a while.
ddgafd 10 months ago
@ddgafd really? Have you never played Fallout 3? :P
j800r 10 months ago
@j800r No. Is there a problem with that? And by my comment I mostly ment JRPGs.
ddgafd 10 months ago
@j800r How about giving a Daggerfall example?
MWaser 10 months ago
I... don't get the reference at the beginning.
Kato86 10 months ago
@Kato86 His reference at the beginnng is from Final Fantasy X :)

Ooooooooh... the enemy in the mission you're going to do in the next part is hard! Well... not for someone who knows the game, but for a new player. I had to retry the battle 3-4 times to be able to win. I think it's pretty easy now though. For being the enemy it is at least.
