    Overtaking

right-of-way and the overtaking aircraft, .. shall keep out of the way of the other aircraft by altering course ...

    (2) An aircraft which is overtaking another aircraft shall keep out of the way of the other

    aircraft ...

  • Other than when landing a lower glider has no right of way. By convention we yield to lower craft when being out-thermalled

  • There was no loss of altitude- no collapse or radical sink (listen to the vario before, during & after impact). The first I knew of it was a glimpse and feeling the wing on my feet. I do agree with cautioning against flying overly close generally, and especially when faster, behind and under a slower glider in gusty lift. Saying that, it was a very busy day with only crowed soaring possible - so it was probably down to my decision to fly at all, no fault otherwise being ascribed. Nice day.

  • Yep. I reckon some teaching about flying UNDER other glides is in order. Yes, the glider below had priority but the glider above can do little to avoid this kind of thing. I hate it when people fly under me. So easy to lose some altitude and collide...........

  • Hey that's me at (0:06) :)
