  • cant wait to try to make one for my front patio. this inspires me thank you for posting it!!!

  • respond to this video WTF

  • Could you give me the dimensions of the pond, please? I want to make one for inside (which I'm assuming I have plenty of space for) and I was also wondering if there was a possible way to add glass on one of the sides and still have the wall waterproof?

  • @ICEtheTIGER ..Thanks for watching the video! The dimensions for the pond are 4ft wide..8ft long ..3 ft deep. I have never tried the glass window but I am sure there are videos on that subject.

  • super bellissimo

  • nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccccccccccccccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • awsome pond

  • wow!

  • Beautiful! I assume you must live somewhere that doesn't have extreme cold/snow conditions? Love it!

  • @cmund43 it freezes over every year! as long as you keep a flow of water going it doesn't become a solid chunk of ice. Thanks for watching the video!

  • I am very interested on how you constructed the filter. Anyway you can show that or write about, in more detail. Also what type of pump are you using how many gph?

  • @LTRainSpa IT IS A 600 GPH MAG DRIVE PONDMASTER PUMP

  • I am very interested on how you constructed the filter. Anyway you can show that or write about, in more detail. Also what type of pump are you using how many gph?

  • very beautiful pond!

    what are the dimensions?

  • @wimpie20000 4ft wide 8 ft long 3 feet deep

  • @Bradfisher1

    ok very nice made

  • @Bradfisher1 ok t looks good

  • Oh that is so awesome! You did such a great job with that - it just looks perfect.

  • how much did it cost you to build? very nice looking pond man i give you 11 out of 10 lol

  • Now that's a proper fish pond, and its gorgeous too.

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • where did you find the liner?

  • Very tidy bit of kit!

I posted a link to your video in a Backyardaquaponics thread asking if there are any good looking aquaponics systems.

I think yours well and truly rates.

  • DID YOU USE SILICON OR PVC CEMENT TO THE BULKHEAD WHEN ATTACHING IT TO THE LINER?

  • @grandmastermicochero I just used silicone.

  • EXCELLENT JOB

  • hello , we are currently in the built of a koi pond similar to yours with 4x4 treated wood , the size of mine is 7 x 10 x 30 inches deep .....am doing the upper level with gravel in it (except i am using small river rocks ) , can you tell me the size of your fall (spillway and what did you use for the spillway ? also does you ½ inch pipe goes all the way along in the upper level ?

am using a pool filter on mine so i have a bottom drain and a water exit in the pond part ....

    Thanks :)

  • NICE!! want to build one

  • can you show us what it looks like now?

  • I love this pond. I'm gonna do the same thing, though on a much smaller scale cause I only have a balcony. Maybe just keep some mosquito fish in it. I think what I like most about it is how attractive you've made the whole filter process look.

  • that is VERY pretty you did a great job. congrats

  • i LOVE IT !!!

  • awesome pond but dont you know those fish grow humungous and thats too small for those kind of fish

  • do u have a heater for the tank because if u dont u know the water will freeze in the winter

  • @chiraglyf I used cedar 4x4's and if you use a plastic line the wood stays dry

  • your pond is just gorgeous! great job!

  • How much did this cost you. Looks good. Nice job !

  • DUDE THATS COOL

  • Beautiful Job.

  • Wonderful job! Great Video! If you add more plants to the top then they'll help convert the ammonia and make the water healthier/Less stress for the Koi. Nitro/conversion all the fish waste - its a beginning step for Aquaponics. You could adjust the inlet for the water of the top (or add more gravel) and then using the Aquaponic method actually grow some edible veggies :) Great job though! I Hope that you like my comments and don't think I was trying to be negative at all. Just tryn 2b helpful.

  • how did you put the frame together

  • That is one beautiful pond.. I'll try to build 1 right away as soon as i can... and nice filtration too. thanks for the vid.

  • how many gallon is that ? pls reply back

  • @thechristianbugok... the pond is 600 gallons..

  • Very nice and minimalistic! :]

  • You know what would of been so cool if you had a 3/4 glass in the front so you can see whats going on the pond..

  • hey just wondering how u got the pcv piping to go up through the bottom?

  • A well looked after koi soon grows, that means this pond is too small for koi. But its a great pond for goldfish.

  • Oh, 1 more question. Is the pre-drill 1/4 for the 5/16 spike?

  • I just wondering how does the corner hold up?

  • @jlndb , The corners have held up very well, every corner of every layer of wood has a 8" x 5/16" spike as well as gorilla glue.

  • This set up is now going to be the set up I use once I move into a house. It looks so simple and best part of not having to build into the ground and risk hitting pipes you never knew about. I am glad you posted this online.

  • @Sapphiretri, thanks if you have any questions I would be glad to help...

  • May I please have a list of the building materials that you used, and how much did you spend on making the entire pond. Looks great, im deffenitly going to try and replicate your design.

  • What type of sand did you use?

  • @tekka84, It is actually just pea gravel, sand works but I have found that anytime you need to move a plant then it just clouds up the water for a day or so...

  • that is slick i might just put one of these in my house.

  • @koijoi72 If you have any questions I would be glad to awnser...

  • hi nice pond im going to be build the same thing what size timber did you use is it 4x4 or 3x3

    thanks

  • how much did the whole project cost

  • how was did the whole project cost

  • what did you use for the lower pond's base?

  • @bobosthenewdude, I used a 4' x 8' 3/4" plywood, you could go thinner since basically all it is used for was makeing the pond square.....

  • @Bradfisher1

Hey i just wanted to let you know you created more than just a pond!

You also made an aquaponic setup by accident!

Add some *redworms* into the gravel, and you will never have to clean the gravel :] They will eat the fish poop and make it even better fertilizer for the plants.

As for the plants, grow anything you'd like! Tomatoes would grow great in that XD (aslong as the water has enough oxygen, and you lower the water level in the "filter" a bit)

  • hi bradfisher 1 i was wondering what did you use for the base of the upper pond im planning on building something like that

  • @bobosthenewdude, i just ripped a peice of 3/4" exterior plywwod.

  • Hey Brad, cool pond nice job on DIY set-up, good video too with the info made available for those that want to try the same thing!!

  • Wow man, that is some neat pond! You must have got your brains from you're old toothless dad.

  • Nice pond, havent seen much (koi) ponds made out of wood, very original.

see my vid of my little pond,

ilike to hear what you think of my pond.

    greeting from the netherlands (Amsterdam)

  • NICE POND, I SEE THE PCV PIPE GOING UP TO THE FILTER BOX, AT 1:17....DID YOU HAVE IT GO THROUGH THE LINER...I AM TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT BRFORE I STAR MAKING MY KOI POND, THANKS

  • @joseph19699, yes I wnt throught the liner, I got a bulkead fitting off ebay for less than 5 dollars

  • Nice pond fella ! Well built with time and care taken , go go gravel filters , how are the fish doing ?

  • I have a pond the same de-mentions basically but made out of landscaping timbers. I have been trying to figure out a nice spillway and looking everywhere. I love your idea and im gonna have to do that..than you

  • FANTASTIC!

  • thats a sweet pond i might have to do something like that in my house so it doesnt freeze in the winter thats awesome work.

  • Sorry, I also should have asked - can you give a list of the materials you used to build your pond and the approximate cost?

  • Just one question: Without a side drain on the filter or on the bottom pond, how do you clean the gunk out of it? Even with more plants, you will still need to clean the gravel eventually.

  • That's a good lookin pond man, Im hoping to get started on mine this summer, preciate the idea

  • great idea and inspiration. question: do you think you will need a bigger pond later? planning to get 2-3 koi and hope the size will fit their needs from baby to adult.

  • Where do you get the wood from?

  • HOME DEPOT

  • Comment removed

  • excellent work. natural filter best idea. plants in filter good solution for filter. How it look's now?

  • can you tell every one the out side demintions for both upper and lower

  • Upper 4 feet wide, 8 feet long, 2.75 feet deep.

Lower 20 inches wide, 8 feet long, and 10 inches deep.

  • this is a nice pond is their any way you could give any more detail to help find any of the products used and the dementions of it i would realy like to build one

  • This is really awesome, are there any step on step how to make these?

  • That looks amazing and very simple to construct. Hopefully we can get to building on of these during spring/summer time.

  • cool! I plan to build 2 ponds like this in this summer. What kind of pump did you get? I like the filter idea you made. DId you screw every piece of wood together?

  • I bought the pump off of ebay any mag drive pump will do, just as long as it is big enouph to turn the water over once per hour. for the the base of the pond I used 8 inch x 5/16 spikes and about a quart of gorilla glue. On the 8 foot side I used 4 spikes per 4x4 and on the 4 foot side I used 3 spikes.

  • thanks!

  • I find this pond way to small to house big koi... with what are you filtering your water?

  • It is a biofilter, now that there are plants established in the gravel and sand in the top it does a great job filtering the water. the water also runs through carbon before it returns to the pond. The pond is about 500 gallons which is enouph room for the 2 10" koi that are in there for now.

  • love...but....how

  • Really nice work. Very classy pond

  • lol well thats easy to clean off

  • im guessing it wont rust?

  • It should not rust, Actually now you can't even really tell it is there, it is now covered with algae.

  • what metal did you use, and will it rust?

  • I used 1/4 inch aluminum plate and welded 1/4 x 1" flat for the sides

  • what plant did you use here 2:12

  • Dwarf Cattails

  • Looks great.

  • Pond looks great! It looks like you treated the wood, good idea, keeps it looking nice. I like your filtration system as well, maybe you can go into more detail about it in a future video. The only thing I suggest to make it a little easier is adding a retro fit bottom drain for all the waste, and a UV light to keep the water clear. Mine stays pretty clear but I get algea on the sides but that is easy to get rid off. Maybe some water clarifier once every two weeks will be good too. Have fun!

  • Great work!!! Wow, way better than my! :)
