My cockatiel went missing for 4 days and I was very worried. After placing an ad in the paper and seeing a few cockatiels that weren't mine, I had a call from nearby. My cockatiel had landed on the outside of their aviary, where injured birds were nursed back to health. I am impressed by my bird's instincts, that he was actually able to find his own breed a few suburbs away and avoid being attacked by Murray Magpies. Good work, I'm glad there are kind people caring for animals out there.
@ausdude159 Thanks for those kind words. I am so very happy that you were able to get your Cockatiel back. He is a very lucky bird. Birds have amazing ways of finding each other. I've had many lost parakeets visit my Parakeet aviary, and have been lucky enough to capture a few. There's nothing like helping those that can't help themselves. These guys are so precious, just as I'm sure your bird is to you. :)
Thanks for your kind comments. Any cockatiels that are tame and not placed in the aviary but instead they are adopted out to loving homes. I just had two wonderful cockatiels adopted the day before Christmas. None of the aviary birds will land on my shoulder or let me touch them, but that's okay. Those in the aviary just get to be part of a flock and hang out with other birds. They are so much fun to be around. I really love them.
@sootykitty thats really good of you to do that :) thats so nice that they can be living outside together but that would be neat if you could go in there and they would land on you and stuff but anyway great job and good for you! :D
I lost a pair of cockatiels in march and I have been struggling to get over their loss. It also worried me that someone may have my birds captive in an aviary ( I know they are still alive because they were seen many times until a month and a half after their escape around the neighbourhood, if they survived a month I'm sure they can manage to survive in the wild..) But your video has really put my mind at ease. Your aviary seems like a nice place for birds. Thank you.
Thanks for your nice comments about my aviary. I am sorry for the loss of your birds. You are right that if they survived that long, they are probably okay. I am sure that they are out there somewhere being cared for. Some of the ones I have were lost birds too. Hopefully yours have found their way to another aviary of wonderful cockatiels to share their lives with.
This was filmed during the Spring in the height of breeding season. I do not encourage breeding in my aviary, so no nest boxes are provided. I usually collect the eggs once a day, but I hadn't gotten to that yet when I took this video. Thanks for watching. :)
Omg they are so cute :) You are very lucky!

@sootykitty I love where you put the aviary. Half under the tree for shade and half out for sunlight. It's really beautiful.
