Did you know Lyndon Johnson used a teleprompter when he announced the Civil Rights Act in 1964? Every president since the invention of the teleprompter has used one, although George W Bush preferred to have people in front of him holding large cue cards because he had trouble keeping up with the words as they went by on the screen.
