  • i couldn't understand it tooo... ?_?

  • I was so glad Soupy translated, I couldn't understand what Fang said, most of the time...

  • missing my lifelong childhood friend soupy sales

  • Ahh yes, I remember that countdown well...The "slate" was written on with black "grease" pencil for taped segments. Most of Soupy's shows had been recorded after his suspension. I remember them in the tape library on the 2nd floor. When time came for the tapes to be erased and re-used, the shows had been removed and taken home by one of the technician's and had been substituted with a blank tape. I wish the guy would at least send the tapes to be put on DVD for the world to enjoy.

  • This show was ( and is) so funny! I remember thinking then that it was so ahead of its time! Thank you Soupy and may you rest in peace.

  • Who needs a talent agency? Haaaaha

  • Puppeteer Frank Nastasi and Soupy were pure magic together! I knew a lot of Hofstra University students who didn't schedule afternoon classes so they could watch the Soupy Sales show. It was a much simpler time then.

  • @shazbotbreath

We Wagner College (Staten Island) students were CUTTING class along with the Hofstra crowd to see this insanity..and lovin' it better than English 103:Chaucer and Beowolf!

  • Rest in peace and God bless Soupy !

  • Dear 1952 Kid, There were also alot of great kids tv shows that aired in the NYC viewing area back in the 1950's.too! They were hosted by Ray Heatherton,Claude Kirchner,

    Buster Crabbe,Bob Keeshan,Bill Britten,Joe Bolton,Allen Swift.etc.

  • 143ac , I do remember all of those, my memory starts at about 1956 and remember a little of Super Circus , at 4 or 5 years old. Thanks for reminding me of the mid 1950's ,it was as good as the 1960's .

  • Loved Soupy and especially White Fang!

    So eloquent! RIP Soupy....

  • RIP Soupy, Gave me many, many hours of fun and laughs!

BTW, If we meet again in heaven, YOU OWE ME A DOLLAR I SENT YOU BACK IN '65

  • i lOVED (and still do) white fang!

  • Anybody remember him singing Pachalafika on The Ed Sullivan Show? He was at a cocktail table with a Lady. Her back was to the camera. The song finished. She turned around. And it was Ed Sullivan in drag!

  • There was Black tooth who was often described by Soupy as the sweetest Doggie in the world as opposed to White Fang who was his doggie but not always as nice!

Soupy was a class act...he loved the kids...and was a joy for a lot of us ! Rest in Peace Soupy I know you and Frank are playing to a packed house tonight!

  • R.I.P. Dear Soupy. How blessed that you knew this warm and wonderful man. I've read that he was very kind to all his fans, and *rarely* refused an autograph. I will miss him.

  • The one and only Soupy! Thanks for the happiness you gave us! Muuuuahhh!

  • One of the happiest and most treasured things from my childhood.

  • Don't forget kids..go into mommy's purse and daddy's wallet and pull out those little green pieces of paper with a picture in the center, and, send them to dear old Uncle Soupy.

Thanks for the good times... Who will care for White Fang now ?

  • It's my wife , she thinks she's a refrigerator. Soup ", take her to a doctor"

Where will I keep my beer ?

  • R.I.P Soupy Sales :( He was the best..

  • Turn on the Tv at 3;30 today , nothing!

  • You have to remember, this was just one show on after school. Sandy Becker, Chuck McCann, followed Soupys show. and Wpix had Captain Jack, Officer Joe Bolton with the Stooges. And many more. So we had a choice everyday after school of a ton of shows to watch. The 1960's were wonderful for NYC kids, nothing even comes close to it today. Buy 1968 it was just about all over for this kind of childrens entertainment, the end of an era.

  • and Winchell-MaHoney time. Capn Jack hosted the Popeye show and we got to see all this classic and tehn uncut B&W Fleischer classics. And there was American Bandstand on ABC as well.

  • How could i have lived in clifton NJ on Madeline avenue just blocks away from Racies Park and the little league DUG OUTS and not watched all these shows

we really are the tv generation and they think the simpsons south park falily guy and sponge bob are someting new and inventive .. give me steve allan and ernie kovacks anyday

I lovd Soupy and how about John "Zacherle" what was the show he did where he used calliflowers as brains and had his dead wife in a coffin what was her name???????

  • I only ever heard him call her "my dear!" Was it Chiller Theater?

  • the reference for "My Dear was the Cool Goul and TV GREAT JOHN ZACHERLY!

I am proud to say I knew Soupy , Zacherly and Sandy Becker....my earliest heros...all great men who loved the kids and they loved them....all but Zacherly are gone...he can still be seen at hte Chiller Theatre expo each October and april in the Meadowlands...go see Zach..while he is still with us...Rest Ine Peace Soupy and Sandy...we loved you!

  • White Fang was Scooby Doo's speech coach.

  • Reahh ough reahh, aegh ough reagh ou reagh!!!

  • I should talk like that more often. :D I'm glad my dad showed me this.

  • For those of us who grew up with Soupy Sales, The 3 Stooges, Bugs Bunny and friends, Roy Rogers, Sky King, The Lone Ranger and so many others.....I salute you......Lo Lo Lo!

  • What ever became of Black Tooth? If i remember correctly, she was White Fang's wife or girlfriend. Also, i remember on Soupy's lunchtime program, Pookie had a sidekick named Hippie. I sure would like to see some video featuring these two characters.

  • Black Tooth is a Cat. :)

  • Black Tooth was the feminine dog character which appeared on the show.

  • I had though she was a cat for 45 years but your right she is a dog.

  • oh my I thought it was white fang and black fang.lol

  • I was 11 years old and I loved Soupy. They do not have shows like these anymore.

  • There was a story, maybe apocryphal, that he told the following joke, which ended the show's run:

"My girlfriend and I go to the baseball games. We have a lot of fun there. I kiss her on the strikes, and she kisses me on the...."

    (you fill in the rest).

Anyone know the real scoop on this?

  • tubeboob999, I heard a story of Soupy holding up his hand, fingers up, and said this finger is for the writers, brought that finger down, this finger is for, etc., brought that finger down and of course ended up with the middle finger and said this finger is for the producers The camera went blank. Anyone hear that?

  • I remember Soupy and Fang so vividly from my childhood in the 60's in surburban NJ. Never forgot the time when the guys on set played a practical joke on Sales himself concealing a completely naked lady behind the front door (of course, we never got to see that at home LOL), but Soupy himself nearly had a conniption fit I'm told..

    LONG LIVE THE SOUPsta!

    Guidobrat

  • The dog..The real poodle appearing with Soupy

in this scene with White Fang the dog puppet is

    Soupy's own dog Beauty.

  • I too useta laugh myself silly at WhiteFang and BlackTooth

    Pookie had his moments, too

  • Dear Solshine, I agre with you 100%!

Why can't our kids watch a tv show like this?

instead of crap like"The Simps" and"Family Dud!"?

  • I remember in school we would go around talking like fang. I guess the teachers thought we were crazy, I don't think grown ups watched this.

If only kids had a wholesome show like this to watch today. These were the days when you could leave the kids alone by the tv and not worry, there was nothing bad for them to see.

  • My dad was 63 and he still went around talking like Fang! He used to tell me stories of him & his college friends gathering around the TV in the dorm to watch Soupy Sales! I wish shows today were this simple and funny.

  • early television rocked. now we've got crap.

  • Watched so many shows I could actually understand Fang. Got lotsa laffs impersonating him too. Chewy was a lot tougher...different dialect maybe

  • God I loved Soupy.......laughed my ass off at every show.

  • I did too . . . still doing it.

  • I liked it when fang talked in "liko liko lau" funny show from then end of happy days!

  • wow...I used to watch this when I was a kid, too. I LOVE Soupy! I wonder if anyone has clips from his definitions? Remember?...

    Bamboo: an Italian baby ghost

    Those definitions were hysterical!

  • Was Chewbacca in "Star Wars" modeled after White Fang?

  • I used to love this show as a kid!

  • I remember Fang..... so long ago!

  • Soupy used his real dog"Beauty"at the end

of this skit with Frank Nastasi's"White Fang!".
