Hey, sixpack seems to be representing US: kicking others asses seems okay to him, but if someone kicks back, he is angry and doesn't notice, that he started the whole thing
This movie is from the guy who didn't direct Tombstone.
Cheesy stuff here, but lots of talent. Story by David Web Peoples, who wrote Blade Runner and Unforgiven, score by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith and creature FX by the just-as-late-and-great Stan Winston.
Fine actors, but not exactly giving their best performances.
Ever since Alien these movies have run on a similar path- people from an organization stumble across something i.e. a ship in an unhabited area that is dead and has obviously run a foul of something and in their questioning of what happened to the people and that place they run into the same problem= a monster *sigh*
@movienaut it is the music... It is soo good such that you can even felt fear when it isn't there. -the point is... the doc was puzzled (not scared), and six pack was being cautious (not because of the deceased but because he hid a bottle).
Yeah, them dead sea creatures. Long teeth make them creepy looking, but I don't have it confirmed (From sources.) that they are harmless to larger creatures such as a human.
A Communist-era Russian ship, with a name from the Old Testament ? That's about as likely as for a NASA moon-landing team to call a lunar mountain Mount Communism :)
Whats funny is not only is this movie an incarnation of Alien, The Abyss, and The Thing all in one, but its also not very original "sound-effects" wise neither. The various different sounds heard are the same ones used within Alien! Blade Runner, etc.
@Ahmesi85 well at least they didnt use the jurassic park sfx...like every other dinasaur movie in existance after it...(just saying how overused SOME things are) and...there shouldnt be tube worms where light is visible
Amanda Pays who speaks with English accent is English believe it or not. Defo sounds like a fake accent but isnt. reminds me of Kelly LeBrock in weird science, who i think is suppose to be English (in the film)but was born in America!
See now, you know a movie is a ripoff of Alien when it's got a similar setting, characters, and uses the SAME FUCKING SOUND EFFECTS. Listen to 5:38. The same sounds as the scene in Alien when Dallas goes into the duct system.
...were you listening to the dialogue at all? At 8:59, they essentially found out that the crew, Captain included, had been dropping like flies before the ship sank. That's kind of a big development.
A big development, yes, but I still found the music unnecessary and extraordinarily cheesy. Personally I would've found the moment more... ominous.. with either more appropriate use of music, or without any music at all. You might disagree, but that'd be your prerogative. Cheers!
And as for your proposition for no music at all, that's a horrific idea. Horror movies essentially lose all their sense of dread and foreboding as soon as you take out music. Give it a try. If you can't just turn off the music, then mute it.
luqas99 u say dis move crap i shit on u head and invoke da hatwrath cos u family wil be raped and burnd cos u disrespect dis gret move and dis ocur fer tru also i see dis shit fer tru so fuck u asshole fagot fuck u and halal

crabbypants1978 2 years ago 2
Even though I enjoy this movie, I'd say there is a bit more than a "dash" of the Thing.
Far more than a dash...
Which is in no way a bad thing. I'd say that there isn't enough horror that uses many of the elements that made The Thing so terrifyingly awesome.
