@Taurshien Without doubt. It feels like a sketch pad. You can zoom in to work in detailed areas. I personally think the 21'' would be too big (for my taste) I like to be able to hold a pad and move it around to draw and shade at different angles. the 12wx is awesome.
It's not all things you have to practice to get good at. Like I've been good at skating my whole life even though I didn't skate for a year i still got it. But yeah, I will start drawing in PS.
Some people have more talent in drawing because like they can keep one picture in their head and just draw it. Its really complicated but I have alot of friends who can just like think for a bit and draw so detailed its amazing
Very cool! I was wondering what screen capture program you use? I've tested about 4-5 different free ones so far and they all seem to have ups and downs.
For the Mac, I did this with iShowU HD. It's a real resource hog, especially if you're recording something while using Photoshop. Read the description to see how I did it. Today, though, Mac OS 10.6 has its own screen recorder with the new QuickTime player that works phenominally well. For Windows, I highly recommend Camtasia Studio. It works even better than the new Quicktime capture.
how are you able to move the canvas while it is maximized? mine is just fixed in the centre of the page, I am not able to move the whole canvas around =/
It's more about getting used to the control and pressure sensibility. Though I'm not as experienced as Orian (obviously) I can still pull off a straight line. Best way to do so is, as redundant as it sounds, to practice it.
Nah, Photoshop is infamous for making it difficult for artists to consistently pull straight lines. I just found out that one solution is to hold shift while drawing, but it's a bit of a pain because when drawing multiple lines you have start your stroke then hit shift, otherwise it will connect the stroke with your previous one with another straight line(definitely useful in some cases, but not all of the time)
Ah, I had forgotten about that feature (mainly because I just don't use it). Well, I feel that's one way, I only do it freehand for the control practice, I find it more beneficial, though that's just me.
Additionally the jury rigged draw then hold shift usually adds an "ink smudge" at the start of the storke which probably isn't desirable in a lot of cases. Just wondering if Orian found an alternate solution.
Well, remember I AM using a Cintiq tablet, so drawing straight lines are pretty easy for me. I typically make straight lines three ways: one way is just freehanding it. Two is that I use a plastic ruler on my cintiq. Three is that I use Shift + the Pen tool. I have to admit, using a clear plastic ruler on a Cintiq is a beautiful, beautiful thing.
Cho-Marghod! Says it right at the end of the Video.. . guess I'll go down as a typical SportO! Duh, hrmm...jsut was'nt being as vigilant as I should have been.. sort sorrow luv...laterz
Please, what was your sound track for this tut/progress video?! I would love to paint to it! I had early head trauma (3 concussions) during my childhood so this type of music is perfect to work too...always on the look out for more...You got the Love?
This music is by the musician "Solar Fields." I highly suggest buying his music, it's fantastic stuff. You can also listen to a great sampling of his stuff on his website. Another band like this I HIGHLY recommend are Boards of Canada. You can find a lot of Boards of Canada music here on youtube if you want to sample it. I recommend songs such as "Roygbiv" "Everything you do is a balloon" "Dayvan Cowboy" "Left Side Drive" and "Peacock Tail."
How do you shade so well is there a way to blend colors to shade from dark to light, I am a noobie when it comes to this new style of photoshop i'm better at altering images, But i want to create images as well, if you know of any good tutorials please do share sir. PS: Almost bought the Cintiq but I don't have 2k haha...
Are you using a tablet...and if you are how do you draw without viably seeing what your drawing under your pen i am having a difficult time with my bamboo on this issue....
Yeah, I was using a Wacom CIntiq 12WX on this image. Be sure that you have the Bamboo drivers installed! Even though wacom tablets work without drivers, you need the drivers for positioning and pressure sensitivity.
hehe, i heard the solar fields by the first seconds :3 love those guys...
