  • hehe, i heard the solar fields by the first seconds :3 love those guys...

  • transmitting subliminal message

  • Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing

  • I just about stabbed myself in the face when you deleted all those color layers

  • Could you please tell me how at some points you draw incredibly smooth straight lines?, not freehand, its like your using a tool

  • thats so awesome =D i didnt know foxorian had a youtube account too.

  • thats awsome

  • Your style is AWSOME! :D great work!

  • transmitting subliminal message lol

  • This looks incredibly entertaining, but how do you get those kind of Photoshop brushes? Mine doesn't include those

  • Thumbs for Cheez-its.

  • too many steps that could've been avoided

  • very nice, though you seam to have problems with sticking an idea when it comes to coloring :P

  • reaqlly good! I love the composition

  • You think the 12WX has sufficient work space?

  • @Taurshien Without doubt. It feels like a sketch pad. You can zoom in to work in detailed areas. I personally think the 21'' would be too big (for my taste) I like to be able to hold a pad and move it around to draw and shade at different angles. the 12wx is awesome.

  • 8.52 subliminal message..cool LOL

  • 8.52 subliminal mesaage..cool LOL

  • Hot damn dude. I had never really thought of using brush opacity the way you did. I'll have to try it out. Epic job!

  • what was with the flickering and subliminal message :p

    nicely done btw ;)

  • amecomi

  • amacomi...

  • looks like a concept drawing for halo

  • @KazzyEss2k9 exactly, or Half-life maybe

  • did you use cmyk colors?

  • Amazing..

  • If I had this skill I could do some serious damage. dang Also @ the description it's a damn smart Idea never heard that one before.

  • hey whats name of music it´s interesting

  • hey dude,

love this video - just one question....

how did you do that thing where you just flick through the colours and the entire area changes colour?

was that an area selection and....something else???

    Cheers

  • I got a question

Why did you paint everything blue at the beginning?

  • that drawing was delicious man! good job. :)

  • Can you please make a video were you explain it all im pretty new to photoshop and it would really help me out.

    -thanks

  • half life stiled paint?

  • holy shit!

  • Second that, upload the non-sped-up version. I wanna watch this for an hour or more :O! Amazing!

  • you know...I don't mind...watching this in normal version for 1 hr...

    Great job

  • wow. the recording on a seperate computer idea is brilliant.

  • Great work! Also awesome tutorials on your deviant art page.

You mentioned you use the Cintiq 12WX, how do you like it? I was thinking of getting one -- right now I'm using the Intuos 3.

  • hey..

    u r good..

    subscribe..

  • when you were coloring, what brush did you use?

  • I used to be pretty good at drawing, but now I can't draw shit. Can you get better at drawing? I wan't to be able to draw good.

  • Practice practice practice.

That's what you do to get good.

  • It's not all things you have to practice to get good at. Like I've been good at skating my whole life even though I didn't skate for a year i still got it. But yeah, I will start drawing in PS.

  • Well I was talking about if your not good at drawing now then you need to practice. There are things people are born good at.

  • Some people have more talent in drawing because like they can keep one picture in their head and just draw it. Its really complicated but I have alot of friends who can just like think for a bit and draw so detailed its amazing

  • I know. And I don't have that. :P But I can think of a picture with lots of details, but some how I can't put it on paper. :P

  • Lol same, I can picture it for 2 seconds and its gone but i remember i pictured it

  • Nice, great technique!

  • WOOOW, what a talent ...!!

  • Very cool! I was wondering what screen capture program you use? I've tested about 4-5 different free ones so far and they all seem to have ups and downs.

  • For the Mac, I did this with iShowU HD. It's a real resource hog, especially if you're recording something while using Photoshop. Read the description to see how I did it. Today, though, Mac OS 10.6 has its own screen recorder with the new QuickTime player that works phenominally well. For Windows, I highly recommend Camtasia Studio. It works even better than the new Quicktime capture.

  • @foxorian I love iShowU HD it works very well.

  • how did you get the 1st colour effect were you changed it all to blue.

  • That's a Photo Filter. It helps tint a scene and can be selectively placed by painting on its layer mask.

  • thanks :)

  • @foxorian why don't you just paint one layer blue and start erasing?????

  • amazing piece right there, i like the mist effects. haha and the music fit very well.

i need to get a cintiq so baddd.

but as of now im a fan of ur work ;)

  • great. i want to do that. but i don't have that skills :(

  • lol at the cheesit part

  • amazing

  • incredible

  • dude my mouth was open all the way through. you're so skilled! and the ending result is fantastic!

  • fantastic hah

    good job

    mmmm...cheeze-its

  • cheeze-its yes............

  • wait, so ur Matt Laskowski?

  • wtf at 8:54 TRANSMITING SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE XD thats kind of creepy but your drawing its nice :D

  • i wish i could paint like that :(

  • how are you able to move the canvas while it is maximized? mine is just fixed in the centre of the page, I am not able to move the whole canvas around =/

  • feels like it gonna take me a while to understand photoshop...

  • aaawesoooome..

  • As always,amazing work mate.

    Just one question.

What was the resolution you were doing this on?

  • the size of the canvas, that is. ;p

  • It was like 2800 by 1300 or something like that. Not too big.

Actual screen resolution was 1280x800 since I was on my Cintiq.

  • I effin love this.

  • you are a girl right couse a love you. and this landscape.

  • eerrrmmm, no i think its a dude named matt laskowski

  • Holy crap!

    You're awesome!

    I love you!

  • thats an amazing computer painting

  • I feel like you were had some kind of straight line behavior with the brush, almost more like a pen tool stroke? If so, how did you set that up?

  • It's more about getting used to the control and pressure sensibility. Though I'm not as experienced as Orian (obviously) I can still pull off a straight line. Best way to do so is, as redundant as it sounds, to practice it.

  • Nah, Photoshop is infamous for making it difficult for artists to consistently pull straight lines. I just found out that one solution is to hold shift while drawing, but it's a bit of a pain because when drawing multiple lines you have start your stroke then hit shift, otherwise it will connect the stroke with your previous one with another straight line(definitely useful in some cases, but not all of the time)

  • Ah, I had forgotten about that feature (mainly because I just don't use it). Well, I feel that's one way, I only do it freehand for the control practice, I find it more beneficial, though that's just me.

  • Additionally the jury rigged draw then hold shift usually adds an "ink smudge" at the start of the storke which probably isn't desirable in a lot of cases. Just wondering if Orian found an alternate solution.

  • Well, remember I AM using a Cintiq tablet, so drawing straight lines are pretty easy for me. I typically make straight lines three ways: one way is just freehanding it. Two is that I use a plastic ruler on my cintiq. Three is that I use Shift + the Pen tool. I have to admit, using a clear plastic ruler on a Cintiq is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

  • Sorry, I mean Shift + the Brush tool for #3.

  • Cho-Marghod! Says it right at the end of the Video.. . guess I'll go down as a typical SportO! Duh, hrmm...jsut was'nt being as vigilant as I should have been.. sort sorrow luv...laterz

  • Please, what was your sound track for this tut/progress video?! I would love to paint to it! I had early head trauma (3 concussions) during my childhood so this type of music is perfect to work too...always on the look out for more...You got the Love?

  • This music is by the musician "Solar Fields." I highly suggest buying his music, it's fantastic stuff. You can also listen to a great sampling of his stuff on his website. Another band like this I HIGHLY recommend are Boards of Canada. You can find a lot of Boards of Canada music here on youtube if you want to sample it. I recommend songs such as "Roygbiv" "Everything you do is a balloon" "Dayvan Cowboy" "Left Side Drive" and "Peacock Tail."

  • my imagination is too tiny to draw anything with this standard D:

  • You are truly a great photoshoper! Hopefully within a couple of weeks more of practice I'll be at this achievable level..

    :-) Good Job

  • Lol cheese its :P

  • How do you shade so well is there a way to blend colors to shade from dark to light, I am a noobie when it comes to this new style of photoshop i'm better at altering images, But i want to create images as well, if you know of any good tutorials please do share sir. PS: Almost bought the Cintiq but I don't have 2k haha...

  • Are you using a tablet...and if you are how do you draw without viably seeing what your drawing under your pen i am having a difficult time with my bamboo on this issue....

  • I have a Bamboo too! And yesh, I am too having some problems getting used to it, but I think that's how it works.

'Nyways, this is an amazing piece of art :D

    DA's awesome too :<

  • Yeah, I was using a Wacom CIntiq 12WX on this image. Be sure that you have the Bamboo drivers installed! Even though wacom tablets work without drivers, you need the drivers for positioning and pressure sensitivity.

  • damn dude !!

    nice work

I have seen ur gallery in DA

btw, may I have your Cintiq?

    just kidding :p

only own bamboo...thats enough for me now

just keep it up dude !!

  • so amazing! :D

  • Nice use of color!

  • Nice one!

  • Very cool, I saw this link on deviantart and got all excited XD

  • Amazing as always :)
