  • I was on the ole oggy dog from 94 - 96. Standing watches all night sucked but hanging out with a bunch of good friends...... priceless. Perth, Australia was the best!!!!! Best memory was on the bridge hitting rough seas from Perth going to Hawaii. Swing the helm to the left, then to the right then to the left then to the right. I think there was a total 6 guys fell out of their racks in deck dept. alone. SN SHAW deck department 94 -96

  • I was a Marine on the Ogden '81-'82. 7th Comm Batt, Camp Hansen Okinawa. Cool video. I remember It all: "Show, show, show...!", "This time for love, next time for money.", and "Love you long time, ten dalla." The Ogden going in circles for a man overboard. When found, they had to hide that missing sailor from us, because we were going to throw him over for real for cutting our liberty time. Squids bouncing bolts off our helmets during welldeck ops. Pricks. Wouldn't trade it for the world. 8O)

  • OGGIE-DOG from 93-98 E- DIV!!

  • I was on the OGGIE-DOGGIE from 85-89, has some gr8 times. anybody remember Patiaya beach thailand, olongapoo city Pi., Pusan korea..wow what gr8 times in those areas.

  • I was on it during Desert Shield/Storm 90-91, great little ship. (13th SocMeu) 1st Bn/4th Marines' Wpns Co's 81mm Mortar Platoon and Alpha Co were on it, so was Force Recon Marines and Navy Seals. If Im not mistaken...13 times around flight deck equaled 1 mile.....imagine running on it when ship was rockin back n forth! good times. I wonder if its still in service???

  • Brings back memories. I did three west pacs on the old Oggie Dog. Was there from 1990-95.

    Ex GM by the way.

  • Oh it was sold to Mexico also.

  • @ChevyDerald If it was sold to Mexico, they must have given it back, because it sure looks like the old LPD with a faded number 5 on it here in Hawaii with a bunch of other moth-balled ships. I was an ET1 onboard around 94-95.

  • @dalepowelljr you are correct. That was what they told use, but yes after looking it up it is in Hawaii.

  • I was on the Ogdan from Feb-Aug 2006. We were the last marines to be on it before it was decommissioned.

  • I was in the USS Ogden in 1997 with the 2nd Batallion, 1st MARDIV, Echo Co. Weapons Platoon, 0351 Section Leader...

    Sgt. Alfaro

  • that was very cool I wish things were like that again sometimes

  • Glad you enjoyed it.

  • I remember this WestPac,,thumbs up to whoever posted this. Thanks alot. IC2 Lloyd

  • Glad you enjoyed it.

  • I was on WESTPAC as a Marine on the Ogden from what I remember was 94/95. We went to all the ports you showed (don't remember Freemantle, thought Perth) But we also went to Somalia. Can't remember the 2nd WESTPAC ship I was on but did the Ogden go on WESTPAC again 95/96? The turn around seems way to fast. I just know for a fact that we went to Somalia in 95 on the Ogden, for the UN pullout, we were sent to the port in Mogadishu, became a Shellback (Golden Shellback on the next trip).

  • That was the only West Pac I did on the oggie dog and I left in 97.

  • Wow, deja vu all over again. Was on the Ogden '68 - '70 (navigation) for 2 Westpac cruises and then was at the decommissioning in 2007. The years certainly had taken their toll on her. Actually, she never was much of a looker. But I do have some great lasting memories from those days.

  • Awesome Video
