  • Saw this movie lastnite & I was enthralled from beginning to end. I did, however, espeicially love the part where he got angry & went to take it out on the piano. Why do we pianists abuse the thing we love the most? :) Made me smile. The women are so beautiful & elegant & the cinematography IS amazing. Mads reminded me of Christopher Walken the whole way through. Gorgeous man with a body, biceps & passion to make any women weak. (He stole my cheekbones. :)

  • the Russians really dominated the 20th century with Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Stravinsky...Looks like Moussorgsky and the mighty 5 could have been proud that mother Russia would produce another mighty 3 in the next century

  • Does anyone know the piano piece playing at 0:50 and on?

  • @keetner Moderato from Stravinsky's "Les cinq doigts".

  • @Epogdous

    Ah, thank you kindly!

  • @keetner le cinq doights, igor stavinsky

  • wish there was english subtitles... would be great to watch. Le Sacre Du Printemps... one of the best pieces ever written...

  • the sex scenes in this movie are probably the sexiest I've seen in my life, and I've watched a lot of Johnny Depp movies.

damn us Europeans and our ability to make everything hot. even 100 year old russian composers.

  • Je viens de lire le livre ...suis mitigée ....reste a voir le film !

  • Exquisite acting ....

  • Why Mads Mikkelsen? Sure, he's a great actor and all that, but he looks NOTHING like Stravinsky.

  • @LightStijn well stravinsky was pretty unattractive, they wanted to make the movie seductive in a way.

Anna Mouglalis is way prettier than Coco Chanel too

  • @LightStijn

i dunno, he looks pretty close to how stravinsky looked at the time, just his head was shaped a bit differently.

  • @otherjoe1234 No, he doesn't. Lol.

  • WOW

Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' was in the spring of 1910 and it caused a riot !

    Times have changed in 100yrs

  • Boring..one dimensional... acting sucks..

  • I love the piano interpretation of the Rite at 1:25.

  • THe book made me so sad made me wish there was a great ending for coco and igor. going to see the movie no matter what!

  • looks like the height of trite

  • ...mmm franse kus en Russische muziek.... Fashion...een wereld van schoonheid, passie en liefde.....imitatie en spelen van eeuwen.....reflectie van de menselijke ziel....

Seven years later, Coco and hij meet again....7 dus!

and he begins to compose in a new, more liberated style...ik voel al dat!

    CocoXXX

  • This movie looks like a piece of shit. No, I refuse to put it eloquently. This doesn't even deserve it. Gives a bad name to the greatest musical mind to ever exist.

  • @Valhalla0 Beethoven and Bach are the greatest music minds ever to exist - stravinsky, the greatest of the 20th and 21st centuries.

  • @sstuddert Actually, go fuck yourself. I hate closed minds like yours who thinks that any music that you don't like or that doesn't conform to your sentimental ideals is invalid (i.e Schoenberg and John Cage). It's embarrassing that I'm even responding to someone like you. This isn't up for debate. Don't waste your breath, I won't be responding for a second time.

  • @Valhalla0 conformist.

  • this movie is just embrassing..

  • it's so funny how listening to Rite of SPring today, it's actualy quite tonal sounding to me...it actually has very discernible melodies ( I know no music theory) but they tonal

  • Le Cheifre

  • Somebody know what is this song? 0:28

  • @Ubareon it's from le cing doits

  • Boring movie...

  • She looks like Ava Gardner

  • Saw the film last night about Coco and Stravinsky, a bit one dimentional and way way too much fous on an almost insignificant affair as to completely distort the audiences understanding of Stravinsky's real direction of attention but always fun to see how the producer thinks a composer thinks even if to stimulate my sense of humor.

  • Good job, Kounen, for show Stravinsky like a psychotic.

  • Whats the song called at the end?

  • @JJ1133

It's a part of Stravinsky's beautiful The Rite of Spring (or Le sacre du printemps) - the music for the same production you see as a ballet where the audience is rioting at the beginning of the clip.

For Disney's imaginative take, see here:

    watch?v=-gZbMOq_Ge8

For a recreation of what that original ballet was like, see here:

    watch?v=bjX3oAwv_Fs

For just the music, see here:

    watch?v=9uMfXh4OOx8

    Enjoy!

  • The actress that plays coco IS beautiful.... but that's not the way I view coco, personally.

  • The actress for Coco looks like Christy Turlington! Beautiful.

  • does anyone know where to buy the dvd?

  • le FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~

  • hahahaha xDDD

    win

  • I haven't seen the film, but from the clips it looks hilarious. Typically, film makers these seem incapable of making an informative biopic about famous people without tacky sex scenes like the absurd one with Coco and Igor going at it with Le Sacre as the musical backdrop. Gack! Incidentally, the riot at the premiere of Le Sacre was as much, if not more, about Nijinsky's choreography as it was about Stravinsky's music. These people needed a proper music historian on hand at al times.

  • I love the part from "The Rite of Spring" on piano! Genius!

  • Lol ivor is played by Mads Mikkelsen, didn't knew he could manage speaking frensh that well.. Exellent :D

  • To be honest, I was thrilled to see him in such a role. Too bad they did not released the DVD yet. I would not be surprised if he learned French, too.

Anyway, he is a great actor, I am glad that directors (outside Denmark) began noticing him more often than before.

  • NICE

  • It's from the Rite of Spring. There's usually no piano, though.

  • Ahhh THANK YOU! I was considering going through the entire Stravinsky canon hoping to find it, but this is much easier. Although, it wouldn't hurt to familiarize myself with more works.

  • What's the piece that ends the trailer with the piano and orchestra? I can't find it and it's been driving me nuts.

  • the name of that part is 'Rondes printanieres', it from the Rite of spring.

  • someone please tell the name of the piece at 0:50!!!!

  • no.5 from stravinsky's "les cinq doigts" suite. :------)

  • thank u sooooo much :)

  • "Coco Flanel"

  • I'm doing a project on Stravinsky for school and The Rite of Spring is just how I imagined it in my head.

  • For some reason there's suddenly a flood of films about Coco Chanel

  • Hello, I'm also looking for an english version of this film, please if anyone has the link just paste it here.... i really want to see this film much more than any other pop-movies..... like cinematograph and serious movies, with true-to-life plots and about such famous people, especially about musicians..... , cause I'm musician too...please, waiting for anyone's reply. thank you in advance:)))))))))

  • i question why they would have a film about this. i know stravinsky's music like i know the back of my hand and it seems like this wont have very much of his music in it. also the guy doesnt even resemble igor stravinsky. i look more like stravinsky than he does.

  • i saw this film at cannes, and it actually features stravinsky's music quite prominently.

and since you seem to be a fan of his music, your interest in this film may be to see the circumstances under which he composed many of his works; under the patronage of coco chanel.

  • It is obviously a fantasy confected by writer Greenhalgh and Director Kounen. Of course a prettier actor than I.S. himself was chosen. Both title-named subjects are interesting in themselves and the connection between them is a small sport of history. If the movie makes too much non-diegetic use of Le Sacre to accompany his pounding of her on her bed, then that will not be so good. There is a bit of his 4-hand piano music that he made for his kids. (continuing)

  • pounding her with non diegetic sound seems quite nice to me. I wish my sexual intercourse would have sound editing.

  • neuromancerzero - is there something about russian Grand Duke Dmitri in this film???

  • Hehe... that can't have been easy for Mads. A Dane playing a Russian in a French movie. That takes skill. =)

  • Does anyone know where I can find a torrent of this with English subs?

  • I saw this at Cannes, it's not particularly good.

  • coco

  • ?!?! Stravinsky and Coco Channel were involved?!

  • This looks so interesting! Particularly the scene of the 'Rite' riot.

  • Love it!

  • Someone know the music in the beginning. is it from the Spring? And if yes, which part?

  • Ok, it's Dance of the Earth, from the first part of the Rite of Spring.

  • It's the opening bassoon solo from the Rite of Spring.

  • This Stravinsky are very beautiful xD

    Happy Birthday Igor

  • MADS MIKKELSEN :D.

  • sehr schön!!!!!

    Herr Stravinsky,

  • go find a donkey

  • Do it your self *******!

  • i cant, we don't have 'em here

  • Syntes du burde tage at få et liv i stedet for at kommentere på mine kommentarer ...

    - Så smut Carlo ! ;)

  • huh`? excuse me but do you people speak english`?

  • Yes we do :)

    - Men tror du selv jeg vil det!? Men skal vi ikk bare stoppe samtalen her fister løgsovs, eller hva? Jeg er frisk på mere hvis du er...

  • No, I don't. Sorry. Not a word.

  • There is an english language and a french language version.

  • impressionant l'acteur qui fait stravinsky!
