i followed all the steps correctly. i went to restore clicked on my usb device and it sayed there is no backup data. i plugged the usb device into the computer and i know that the data was copied onto it.

I did it all from gettin a 500gb hard drive 5400rpm to taking the screws off and finally switching the old hard drive from the new one ...

But when i open it ..it says the i need to upgrade the hard drive to a 4.00 upgrade or less .....!????? what does that mean!?? Please help only got 8000mb left and a shit load of games :(

@fuclcjewtube i suceded, but its hard, i had pain in my hands for an hour XD. you need a good fitting screw driver. than you push (with the screwdriver) extremely hard "in" the screw (like: screw = ---| <----- push that way), and VERY slowly turn it. put ALL your strength into it... they are reaaaaly tight. another option is going to the nearest hardware store and ask them to do it in 5 sec XD

the blue screw comes out easily but these screws on the hard drive case are ridiculous! i tried the screwdriver but they got somewhat stripped, then i tried pliers and it's so hard to get a good grip on it.

@HydraulicSandwich You need to have the Firmware on your USB in one of the ports before turning on the PS3 so it reads the data on it and accepts your HD (Hard Drive)

@95BLUERAY If you plug in your firmware while the ps3 is shut off, the ps3 will format the drive for you. Since i did this per-installation, my PS3 skipped this step. So, while the Ps3 is safely shut off, put the usb with the Sony Firmware then turn on the PlayStation 3. After it asks for start and select at the same time it should give you "found firmware" instead of "unreadable disk." Then if it's not a Fat32 it will format for you.

@lorenz987 A 7200rpm will work, however the ps3 firmware reads at 5400rpm so it will be limited at that if you go higher.. so 5400rpm is the best bet.. however if you cant get the storage size you want in 5400 a 7200 will do no harm :)

@opKDevin93 Yes as the ps3 only recognized fat32 format not NTFS. Its dumb imo as most people know fat32 cannot be formatted by windows pass 32 gb or less lol. Most ps3 hdd are 40gb+ now some even 500 or more dued to the ability to upgrade cheaply compared to 360s need to have a special hdd made from the company itself. You will need a 3rd party program to bypass the limit windows has for formatting any drives to fat32 in order to use your external hdd.

@Bonksz i think you already know it, but when you buy DLC and it get's deleted, you just go to the PS Store and select download-list. You'll find all the stuff you bought and you can download it again for free. This can be done 5 times ;)
