An excellent composition By Naushad Ali. The two lines have been extraordinarily sung by Shamshad Begum with a very touching voice. The lilt she has in her voice in this song is a rarity. It seems like the song was sung in an utmost sad state of mind and circunstances. The music by Naushad Sahib is extremely rich, powerful and full of emotions and that is what the scene was in Mela. It is a heresay that Naushad Sahib was himself in an utmost tragic state of mind when he composed the music.
