Not a crappy camera its an infrared camera you can lock those missile onto tanks 7km away through fog and at night it dont miss. The new version of the misile and coackpit switches the tv view to another missile soon as its fired. Or you can switch to the targeting pod camera to get a better view.
@rabbiteh A-10s don't use hellfires. The AGM65 he is using here is an IR model not laser. This one is not guided by a laser , simply by the difference in temperature in the IR spectrum, hence the mentioning of hot spots. The new Maverick use an auto lasing pod called the Litening system or a ground unit can lase for them.
@OK8888 A-10 driver: "I got a mover!" The wingman is reporting to his flight lead as he scans the ground with the AGM-65 IIR Maverick missile. He has detected and locked on to a moving vehicle and fires the Maverick. The video cuts off when the missile leaves the rail.
@ColonelMcKnight The video feed comes directly from the missiles seeker head, once the missile is launched the feed from the missiles seeker is cut off, the missile becomes autonimous and flies to the target.
Sometimes pilots switch to a TGP or another missiles seeker head to watch the launched missile hit.
I don't fully understand. If the building with the distinct hot spots around it was his target, then why did he hit the hot spots and not the building. And why that hot spot? I just don't get why that was his target and not the bigger fish, i.e. the building.
Because the A-10 was on a tankbusting mission...ie loaded up with Mavericks and searching for vehicle targets, so the "hotspots" on the tape are probably tanks and APCs deployed around the building.
You are correct...once the missile is launched the video link to the aircraft is cut but the missile remembers when the pilot told it to go. This is called LOBL or Lock On Before Launch.
LOL at the morons who think this is fake seriously get a grip on yourselves.

the use of that crappy tech should be consider war crime! Even now i've seen american soldiers doing awful mistakes because of a crappy camera.

btw, how does a single crew A10 pilot manage lasing a target for hellfires and flying at the same time?
do they do the lasing or does it come from ground forces?

On the internet you have to think carefully what you write, since people don't bother to read it.

@DiegoMenendez "Mover" is the term for an enemy vehicle on the move amongst the target area.

@jaglavaksoldier i don't think a missile would cause that much disturbance bet it was the avenger auto cannon that did that
artlthepolarbear 1 year ago
@artlthepolarbear no, its because the video link on the missle is lost, because it is relesed
