Well I was training NOT to pour the fuel on the ground... it's just a waste. How dirty can a plastic tool be that you ONLY use for checking the fuel... Just saying.
He should be doing more than just a visual check under there -- never trust your eyes to tell you whether a screw or panel is tight or a cotter pin is installed correctly. Always touch what you are inspecting to check for abnormal movement, looseness, binding, rattling, fluid, etc. If you are too unfit to get on your hands & knees then you shouldn't be flying.
come on man, its not like he's going to die, it was just funny what he said, i have never heard my instructor talking about bird nests forming inside the plane
I don't understand how people can be so focused on how dull the man is,at the end of the day if he was acting silly/humourous all the time people would take more notice of the man than the topic, which would defeat the object of the film,I personally think he is ok
um first of all desent vid. but i've noticed that you dumped the feul on the tarmac...that is dangerous because when you start the engine the engine is hot it may blow up!!! you're supposed to dump the fuel back in the fuel tank or dump it downwing of the aircraft.
It's a common practice by most pilots to discard fuel samples on the tarmac. You don't want to reinsert the fuel, as there may be debris in the strainer...Go cry to the EPA about it.
Well, I always put the fuel back in unless there is sediment or water. If there is nothing in the sample there is nothing wrong with the fuel. Especially when it is $4 per gallon.
i was taught to discard the fuel straight onto the tarmac because avgas evaporates extremely quickly. the 10 or so ml in the strainer isnt going to set you back all that much nor is it going to explode like a bomb unless you physically light it.

Although i totally don't rate this guy, its amazing what you find in under-carriage wells and little nooks in the cowling.
I have heard of a squirrel nest in an engine before. Little critters.
