@space1patrick the song at 8 minutes in should be Heart Attack '64 by Inferno Friendship Society; this was the year Peter Lorre died of heart failure.
@space1patrick the scenes @ 4 minutes into the video are from the film M ; the song that opens my tribute video is ' Overture ' by Inferno Frienship Society from the album, ' Addicted to Bad Ideas: Peter Lorre's Twentieth Century' 2007
You seem to know Peter Lorre's movie career well and I was wondering if you remember a line of his that is "Well, weeeeell" said high pitched and creepy. I can't get it out of my head and the image that I have sure looks like him.
Most of people know him just by Arsenic and Old Lace. But he was so interesting and widecharacter actor...Thanks for this tribute, I think you brought a lot of new into this world with your vid. I mean, people will recall the real Peter Lorre...:))
omg i just met this guy in NYC last night! he is from France, but he is the same height as peter, has just about the same face (especially the mouth and smile omg! but the eyes are not as droopy but wide enuff) and his voice...when I heard it I almost fell on my ass!!! he left a message on my voicemail today and omg it was lorre 1000%! am i a lucky chick or what!? im so excited!!!!!! i never thought another guy like that being born was possible...expecially coming into my life!
@harsishava yes...he is coming down to philadelphia to see me on saturday.
but i have to be smart....cant get with a guy simply because he sounds and looks like an actor im in love with loooool...so he better not have a stank attitude. that would really suck:(
@JennelleBelle If I was you I would for all those things, of course don't take it seriously! But if he's a total ass then have a photo and pretend leaving the real guy out of it!
@JennelleBelle I`m glad you met that guy but there was only one Peter Lorre and that was Peter Lorre himself...
I tell you this because I also dream of finding a guy who would look or sound like Peter but in the end I end up realizing that who I`d find, I`ll never really have Peter in front of me but just a guy that resembles him in some way....
@JennelleBelle He actually did get to play a leading man a couple of times, like in The Verdict, I bought it from the TCM website. Great collaboration with Peter and Sydney Greenstreet!
I saw The Raven the day before yesterday (and again today b/c I liked it so much) It was the first time I saw Peter Lorre perform and I really loved it. I've already looked up some bits and pieces of the movie "M" where he also seems to give an impressive performance so I can't wait to see that one
This is WONDERFUL!!! Peter Lorre was such a great and interesting actor, and I wish more people knew about his work. His movie work was great, but his radio work is also excellent. Thanks for posting....and I like the music, too. I'm actually watching "M" tonight for only the second time in my life, and stunned at how amazing Peter is in the film.
I first saw him in 20,000 Leagues and always loved him after that. I was astounded when I later saw M, and then Thank You, Mr. Moto. He had tremendous range, and talk about effortless scene stealing... I interviewed director Richard Fleischer & Kirk Douglas about 20,000 Leagues for a magazine article, and both said they loved him, and stayed friends with him after the film. Both said Lorre was a pleasure, the nicest guy to work with, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Is it weird that I've always had the biggest crush on Mr. Lorre? I saw him in "The Maltese Falcon" when I was little, and had a crush on him ever since.
this is driving me crazy but what movies that scene where has that metal-like gear over his eyes and face?? I can't remember the movie but I think I've seen it before. Help? :) It's a beautiful video, btw, very inspiring :D
Hi You picked some real drama. Peter Lorre was always a favorite. I remember him in many movies. The one that always comes to mind first is "The Cask of Amontillado" with Vincent Price and Peter Lorre. The music is great in this video.
=0 Outstanding! I'm Shocked! First of all I am in love with the song "Embarked on a life of Poverty" second I am astounded from all the rare photos you have presented here! You have some real gems! And the footage was dazzling. Last I read your footnotes and it is amazing how many austro-hungarian artists had to flee from Germany at that time, I didn't know Fritz Lang was half-jewish too. Peter Lorre was probably the most famous of them all though. Great tribute right before his birthday. Party!
This is absolutely beautiful. I love the choice of music, it's moving and fitting. Your editing is precise and excellent as always, and the overall atmosphere is just incredible. Thanks for posting!
Wow darlin, this is a masterpiece! Everything's just perfect, the music, the editing, the excellent composition through and through. Your hard work really paid off. It couldn't be better! Thanks for such a tasty Peter Lorre treat. xoxo
Why did the two people click dislike? Don't you know that might make me very angry, now? I will do terrible, HORRIBLE things to them.

Was this the actor who played Nosferatu's little henchmen in Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht alongside Klaus Kinski (as Nosferatu)?
Same actor for that old Hollywood silent film of The Hunchbunk of Notre Dame?
