does that give you perfect pitch? i associate letters, numbers, shapes, words, and objects with colors and human traits. when did u find out about yours?
less than 2 months ago. i always had an amazing memory that impressed everybody. i knew that i thought that way; it just never crossed my mind that other people didnt. feel free to ask anything about my synesthesia. im interested in other people who have it (specifically related to music)
im not sure, but i think it is. numbers, spelling, dates--stuff like that just mattered more to me than other people. it's like i feel a personal connection with it
I've never heard anyone besides myself say they can "taste music" .... I see colors as well, when im playing and when im listening or thinking of a tune. Mine generally go between various shades of green and orange. Its been like this since I started as a musician at 10 ....
@MacDrevi0us Definitely NOT 4/4. Just count the beats on the 5 fingers of your hand. It's not easy to find the first beat of a bar until the high piano comes in at .34 seconds.
Wow. I remember watching a show when I was younger back in '93 or so(I'm 27) called "sightings" and they did a story about synesthesia. I had completely forgot about that untill now.
some extreme hallucinogens induce synesthesia. It's a general definition for phenomena in which a sensation is interpreted by a different sense than what it normally is interpreted by. I.E, hearing a tone as purple. This isn't limited to sound of course, but some people have mental conditions which essentially rewire their brains to interpret senses differently, which is the case for this guy
The condition your talking about sounds like Synastesia. I do not think i spelled it correctly but I have that condition and every number and letter has its own color and never changes. It means that a connection in your brain has not split from another so for me the connection dealing with numbers and letters and colors is still "connected" and work together. I am also visually impaired but can see bright colors and really enjoy them. I see my music that i write in colors as well.

It's called synesthesia. Rimsky-Korsakov had something very similar, and every key had a "color" in his mind. It's an awesome gift, take care of it!

During my apprenticeship as a piano tuner, I was taught to put a cherry in your mouth if you want to tune sweet. I understand the taste of colors.

@MacDrevi0us Maybe it's 5/8 or 10/4. Same thing really. To me anyway. How long is a crotchet (quarter note)? I'm happy with 5/4.

that is cool, i have heard of it. i have perfect pitch, but i don't associate each of the pitches with a color.
sound being associated with colors sorta reminds me of disney's fantasia.
