  • Flora beat Merryweather, that's why Mary Costa wearing PINK! :D

(my favorite princess Aurora ♥...and yeah! i miss my childhood days)

  • I haven't seen this interview in ages! She is so nice as a person. She looks so young for her age! I love her character, she is like I real life Disney princess. I love her "I Do!" it seemed so Disney princess to me! Isn't she the last original Disney princess singer alive now?! :(. I know snow white's singer is dead now but is cinderella's too? :(

  • It scared me when the robot came! O.O

  • This lady was basically my childhood, i love princess Aurora xD best princess ever! ♥ ♥ ( in my opinion :p )

  • @ItzAriHere Cinderella is the lovliest Disney Princess ever. She has the lovliest voice and the heavenliest beauty out of all the princesses and her story is the sweetest and most heartwarming.

  • What an adorable woman!!! :D

  • My earliest memory is sitting on my couch at 3 1/2 yrs old watching this film and the moment I saw Aurora walking through that majestic forest and from the instant I heard her start to do her ethereal bird calls, although I was young, I was convinced that I had just heard the most beautiful sound on earth! Although Ariel's voice inspired me to sing, it is Sleeping Beauty who taught me the meaning of sensory joy and pleasure. This film is the most perfect film ever made in history, bar none!

  • How freaking cute is she in the intro? She's such a doll and I adore her laugh!

  • Anyone notice that she's wearing pink and not blue? :)

  • Just like in the movie, hair of gold, lips like a rose and decayed like from the century the movie is supposed to be based on. XD

  • This woman is so sweet. I sent her my Sleeping Beauty DVD in the mail and not only did she sign the cover (which i requested in a letter) but also sent back an 8x10 glossy photo personalized and also signed! Now i have it up in a frame on my wall :) A True Disney Legend she is.

  • @Foo3112 oh wow. amazing! what address did you send it too?

  • @jessesgirl4eva Mary Costa

    3340 Kingston Pike

    Unit 1

    Knoxville, TN 37919-4674

    USA

Make sure you have postage already on the other envelope so she can send it back to you.

  • @Foo3112 you have now made my life complete for posting this. :)

  • @Foo3112 how did you get her address?

  • lol my name is mary sumtimes i pretend im named after her :P

  • Walt and his team worked 6 years at a cost of $6 million to make a film that nowadays can't be made again even with this ultra modern technology, because everything was hand made. In my opinion, it's one of the very best Disney movies ever made, from its artistic point of view. The music alone is excellent!

  • I adore Mary Costa. She is so lovely. Sleeping Beauty will always be my absolute favourite Disney movie, and one of my favourite movies in general. I would love to meet her!

  • 4:21 Mary is NOT amused @ Chuck lol

  • Mary Costa made a great Merry Widow during the 60's. Recorded by the BBC. Anybody got it?

  • I had a chance to meet Mary in Knoxville two years ago and she is wonderful.

  • Mary Costa is no longer a Disney Princess; she's graduated to a Disney QUEEN! As an older woman she has become the perfect embodiment of beauty, grace, charm, tact, and wisdom. Bravo. :D

  • it froze at 0:04 ALOLOL

  • Isn't that the Jack Benny program not Ed Sullivan? But what a sweet lady! I love Sleeping Beauty

  • She's still alive, you guys! XD

Aww!~ I love her face when Chuckthemovieguy shows her the clip of the Ed Sullivan Show, and of her singing opera. :3

  • What a cutie mary is! <3 Sleping Beauty. Too bad she's the only one of "the first three" Princesses alive :( RIP Adrianna and Illene!

  • I had the great pleasure of seeing Ms. Costa perform about 15 or 20 times when she appeared in Bernstein's CANDIDE at the newly-opened Kennedy Center back in 1971. I got to speak with her several times, and she is every bit the lovely lady and charmer that everyone says. Years later I sent a message to her thru her agent, and got a voicemail from her. But haven't been able to get back in touch. How I'd like to speak with her or see her again!

  • Ms. Costa was born in 1930, in Knoxville, Tennessee, which I believe she still calls home.

  • beautiful

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Mary Costa a few years ago. My mom is good friends with her.

  • @Blizfam she is soo sweet i met her when i was 10 years old aurora is my favorite princess since i was born and it was so magical and an honor to meet her. she signed like 10 items i had that i will treasure forever.

it's my life goal to meet her!

  • shes such a sweetie :) lol and she looks pretty ^^

  • Oh WOW! Thankyou so much for uploading! Ive always wanted to see the actress playing Aurora! :D for her age she looks amazing!

  • Mary is the only one of the three actresses, who voiced the original three Disney Princesses, who is still alive. Illene Woods, who voiced Cinderella, sadly passed away on Thursday.

  • @NDLady1985 What?! Oh that's so sad. I love Ilene. So sad. I LOVE her voice.

  • @NDLady1985 May she r.i.p. :[

  • @NDLady1985 It's really sad. Illene said though, that she was happy that even after she died her voice would still be heard.

  • @Riku7070 It's fine XD

  • She looks so amazing in this clip. It's really hard to believe she's 79, she looks like she's in her early 60's.

  • She hasn't died yet.

  • She looks amazing! And she's so witty.

  • @Mike6E I think she's Botoxed

  • she turns 80 2day!

  • Yeah the women are ment to look like the characters like Adriana Coselotti she looked like Snow White when she was 18.

  • But was 21 years old, she died in 1997...

  • she reminds me of my aunt:) <3

  • This woman looks incredible, she is 79 in this interview!!

  • i love her voice

  • She is such a great storyteller, id love to meet her just so she could tell me stories. =]

    Love her as Aurora

  • She gets her hair done at my salon, and she is absolutely magnificent!

  • What opera is it at 4:17???

  • @BPFanatico the name of the opera is Faust! By Charles Gounod!! The aria is actually really famous!

  • @BPFanatico Faust

  • @BPFanatico Faust: The Jewel Song.

  • She is beautiful...

  • she looks like aurora, and many says she is humble and sweet, she looks like one too. i would want to meet her!!!

  • lol i just got this movie even though people may think i'm too old for movies like this i love them i love the story and the picture in it is amazing now

  • This lady has so amazing spirit!

I believe Walt Disney had a real talent to choose the truly magic voices to his Princeses.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Mary Costa at the D23 convention. She is the most humble nad sweetest person I have met in my life. Sleeping beauty is my favorite movie of all time and meeting sleeping beauty was a dream come true. In person she is absolutly beautiful.

  • Mary Costa reminds me a little bit of my ex-Math tutor, Wendy Thompson.

  • I met her! What a sweet and humble lady!

  • i have the luxury of chauffeuring here and all i can say there is not a more awesome lady around! everybody who meets here loves her.

  • wow..she does look like aurora too..hehe ^_^

  • What a sweet woman. :) I hope I get to meet her someday. :) I had the pleasure of meeting two other Disney Princeses, Jodi Benson(Ariel) and Paige O'Hara(Belle) not too long ago. :) What angels they are. :)

  • luckyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She's so lovely and seems like so much fun, just like Aurora. Talk about perfect casting. :)

  • I love her voice. Didnt Yma Sumac Lend her voice for the High peeks of the song " I wonder" and wasnt credited?

  • No...... I can't wait to show this to Mary!

  • "I Know You, I Walked with you Once Upon a Dream"

  • And you can see her sitting with Ilene Woods (the voice of Cinderella) in "Enchanted" in the ball scene--a delightful surprise!

  • this woman is amazing

my full respect goes to her

  • She really had the most professional voice of any of the Disney princesses. They all (with the exception of Snow White) had beautiful voices, but she had a vocalist's career.

  • And she definitely had the potential to have become an international operatic star.

  • Do you mean Snow White didn't have have a beautiful voice or that she also had a professional voice? Because i think Adriana Casoletti and llene Woods had the most beautiful voices.

  • I think that Snow White had a beautiful voice, it just wasn't the same... um...what's a good word... I guess tone quality as some of the others. It was beautiful, just very very different sounding voice, I typed my last comment wrong.

  • woah! she even looks like aurora. blonde hair red lips like he said. that's sooo cool.

  • wooooooow!! this is so awesome!!!!

    she's the perfect aurora!

  • I'm so glad to hear that she had a singing career, unlike Adriana Caselotti (Snow White) who was forbidden by Disney. : (

  • She wasn't exactly forbidden from a career, just using the Snow White voice and "brand" outside of Disney productions which was reasonable enough. Ms Caselotti loved her role of Snow White and enjoyed her association with the role until she passed away.

  • Thank you for this!!! SO COOL...

  • She's so cute.....

  • Oh what a doll she is! From all her success and acclaim she has remianed so humble and enthusiastic. I loved hearing about how she continues to sing with children. It's so wonderful that she still takes time to share all these precious moments. She's as talented and lovely as ever!

  • cool!!!!

  • wow. Impressive beautiful talents woman. Walt Disney must have been up in heaven smiling when this new version came out.

  • It's a thrill to find this video. I met Mary when she sang with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in 1976. What a fantastic lady.

  • How DELIGHTFUL to "meet" Mary Costa. I have been in love with this voice for as long as I can remember. Warmth, fullness of tone, phrasing...and she treats the letter "S" so beautifully - like no other singer except, perhaps Gordon MacRae. What a treasure! Her work as Aurora is just absolutely STELLAR. What joy she has brought with her gift - more than she could know. ..And - a special favorite of mine - her "Musetta's Theme" from LA BOHEME - MASTERFUL! "I know you, I walked with you.."

  • I just got her autograph ..she so nice

  • Shes so beautiful! And she has a beautiful voice as well. She seems very sweet. :)

  • She sounds just heavenly! I wish we had more Mary Costas in the world today.

  • I wasn't aware of the existence of Mary Costa's opera career....she has a beautiful soprano voice, but I've only heard her as Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and also in one recording of Puccini's La Boheme with Anna Moffo who was far more famous...but I love Mary Costa and I'll have to get some of her recordings...

  • Yes, she was, indeed, a smashing Musetta - and did absolute justice to the exquisite "Musetta's Theme"

  • Unfortunately Mary was represented by Sol Hurok, who did not schedule her for a recording career. She has some 44 roles to her credit, but only the Rome recording is available, unless you can find some of her appearances on the Jim Nabor's Show as well as here on youtube, for which I am and will be eternally grateful.

  • I heard Mary Costa at the Met. Beautiful voice-beautiful woman.

  • I remember reading in an interview that she said that she can still do the voice of Princess Aurora. Chuck should've asked her to say something in Aurora's voice.

  • I had the opportunity to meet Mary Costa & she is exactly like this in person. Such a wonderful, amazing, and humble lady. She was so grateful for all the fans that came to see her. She truly loves to talk about her experience doing Sleeping Beauty and how it is one of the best things she has ever done in her life. She spoke to each one of, signed autographs, took pics like we were all her life long friends. Truly an awesome person. I hope I get the honor of meeting her again someday.

  • someone could translate to spanish?

  • She projects such a sweet aura. No wonder Walt chose her.

  • Wow, she looks great!

  • it's a shame mary costa is the only one left. the rest of the actors & actresses who were in sleeping beauty are dead :( it's the same with cinderella....Ilene Woods (cinderella) is the only one still alive.

  • Not quite true.

I know for sure, that Lucille Bliss, the voice of Anastasia in "Cinderella" ist still alive, too.

I hope she and everybody else have much more wonderful years on earth to come :)

  • That is sad...I'm glad Mary Costa is still alive and she seems very bubbly and full of life ..it's sad how most Disney movie voice actors from the 50's are dead....and I really liked Eleanor Audley

  • go mary costa! she is my idol I love her :D

  • Love Aurora, Luv her, it's just greeeeeat!!!!!! Wonderful!!!!

  • it looks wondeful.

  • Make it Blue! ~-~*

    Walt would!

  • This is the coolest thing ever!!!!

Aurora is one of my fave princesses, she is the prettiest haha

  • very well

    your interview is excellent

  • wow she's so fantastic! :D

    and she loves you!

  • Great interview Chuck, one of your best!

  • She is so amazing.

My grandmother and grandfather would tell me so much about her after I watch Sleeping Beauty for the first time and what they said was so amazing, and it made me want to listen to her voice every single day.

Thank you for this interview Chuck.

You are a very good man. :)

  • Nice!
