Great piece ! Not hard to imagine it was composed by Earl Scruggs. THE MASTER of banjo bluegrass. Nashville Blues also takes us to the 1861 - 1865 civil war era. @actonstation had also uploaded this piece of fine music on youtube, showing a marvellous set of civil war pictures. It''s worthwile checking that out too. (no comments possible there, which is good due to the empty headed Union vs Confederacy discussions that brings on)
Stumbled upon this while I was searching for hip-hop freestyle beats... And i like it! this sum groovy stuff.. maybe i'll grow a beard from now on :)>
Damn...I am having trouble finding more music like this. Sure, there are Blues instrumentals, and acoustic guitar instruments (Rod y Gab's Hanuman being the best), but nothing like this! I have replayed it about 14 times in a row so far, and it is still awesome!
@AustinJRice Sounds a lot like me, I keep repeating this awesome piece of music time and time again aswell. Just can't get it out of my mind and keep hitting that repeat button over and over ! Do we suffer from some kind of addiction to this music or what ?
Greeat!!! I like this band and this album very much. Please, can you post other songs, because i've lost it time ago and i would to listen again...byes from Italy;))
Will the Circle album was from 1972 and Nashville Blues was prior to that , and the Southern Flavor song was from the Southern Flavor album from 1988 which Monroe got a Grammy for so I doubt it is a cover.
One of the greatest albums ever, required listening for all. I remember reading in the liner notes how the members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band were worried because when they had to play with Roy Acuff, he wanted 'em all to get haircuts!
I bought this album shortly after it came out back in 1972. Was just getting into bluegrass music and just learning the guitar.
Now, 30+ years down the pike, I'm about to dig into learning Nashville Blues on the mandolin I made.
This album was put together by the members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt band to bring together the "new" and the "old" of this sort of roots music. Many great artists contributed to this and subsequent collections.
Very interesting. As far as instrumentals go, I usually stick to classical and Irish folk but I really like this. Do you happen to have any more suggestions for music like this?
I have a whole lot more instrumentals from that album. As a matter of fact, I have the entire "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" album. So if you have anything you want me to post, just ask ;)
@fallingblack Yes. I would get the 2-disk volume. It is a real classic. There's a ton of good stuff on it. This is Earl Scrugs himself playing the main part.
I have this "triple vinyl" since about 35 years the best of the "country folk "for me with Doc Watson, Earl Scrugg and the others..But who is the general on the cover ??
@EliteUBH Have you put the song Low Lands on here also? That is another very nice song from thi album. Thank you so much for the songs that you have posted here.
God I love this band. It gets right to me. More please and thanks elite UBH

Thanks for the reply.

I've got something that'll cure that sickness.... although you wrote that 7 months ago, I'm sure you'll still love this.
Kissanruoka4400 2 years ago
@fallingblack there isn't that many good bluegrass, better stick to the irish stuff. although some tracks are just devine.
dfhwze 2 years ago
there aren't many bluegrass tracks of this greatness. maybe bill monroe's southern flavor or his kentucky mandolin.
dfhwze 3 years ago
actually I think if you listen closely this is just a cover for southern flavor
