  • Had to watch this for IH lesson.. But the monotone voice almost made me fall asleep.. Zzz..

  • Quote: "...more than 700 bases outside of America....". And around 300CE, Rome had 500,000 troops to control their...um...interests?

Not an empire, eh? Now who's rolling the doobers?

  • i learned more about american history in eight and a half minutes than i ever did in 2 semesters

  • The liberals hate the imperialistic actions that are hidden from the citizens of it's own country, they hate the rather fake, hypocritical and cynical government that so call governs that area. And they hate ignorant people that don't take even the slightest finger off of the phrase "the liberals hate america" most don't hate america, they hate what america does and what it has become.

  • When America was asked to free Kuwait, was that occupation? When American was asked to protect Muslims in Kosovo. Was that occupation? What about WW 1 and WW2? You people are weak minded and easily deceived by propaganda. We are out of Iraq and now look at it. Want to speak to the Crusade of Islam? Mohamed started with one country, now 57! That is occupation, stupid! The liberals hate America, and they hate Democracy. For forty years have been rewriting hisotry to show that hate!

  • @Walhei960 verbal diarrhea.

  • As any empire, America has no morals, ethics, nor ideals, but is only interested in power and control.

  • @visvaldisX

And how would you suggest that said morals, ethics and ideals be brought about, but with power? You can spend your existance wishing for things, or cursing those with the temerity to act, or you yourself can act.

To try to frame US hegemony in terms of "good" and "evil" as though this is a Disney production is childish. Reality is many shades of grey.

  • That's right Howard, you tell them !!!!

  • BULLSHIT @ 4:00. Involved in the movement against the war? You mean you were on drugs right? I love wordplay.

  • BullShit @ 2:00. After we won the war against Mexico we bought the land for something like $15 million. Remember the Alamo. That was a battle in Texas' fight for Independence from Mexico. Alot of Americans were there, so after Texas lost the Battle for the Alamo, America jumped in. We whooped Mexico's ass, and then struck a deal buying Texas, and the entire West and SWest coast. And it wasn't paper money printed at the FED(didn't exist), it was Gold! A whole shit ton of gold and silver.

  • @fromtherye Texas fought for it's independence from 1835-36 and was a nation from 1836 until annexed in 1845, shortly before the start of the Mexican-American War (1846-48). Federal troops had no involvement in the Texas War for Independence. Pres. Polk wanted to expand America's borders and sent in a military envoy to negotiate the purchase of California in 1846. Threatened, Mexico attacked US forces on the Rio Grande, and the war started. The land was bought at the end for $20 mil.

  • Not a fan of his economics, but I always love his incisive digs at US Imperialism. Nice read Zinn.

  • Iran is next. You don't have to be a conspiracy theorest to realize that.

  • @Dogmeat1950 I have to agree with impalapez, your grammar is ATROCIOUS. I find myself unable to understand your argument, what with having to navigate all the spelling errors. LOL

  • Ron Paul 2012 - END ALL THIS MADNESS !!!

  • Thank you so much for uploading this vid :)

  • Why is it when someone posits the truth about something the whiners come out and say, "Oh, this is Marxist....commie stuff....socialism..."

No, it is the truth. America IS an empire. HAS been an empire. Nothing to do with our supposed political system, which, BTW is now a full blown Roman plutocracy.

    Please, wake the eff up?

  • @bluehazer Thank you!!!! And seriously!!! They need to open their eyes and put the pieces together just like this educated American veteran did.

  • @bluehazer I don't know what you're smoking, but you should probably lay off of it for a while. In no way could the US be considered an empire - colonial empires conquered vast areas of land with the intention of turning them into mini-states that could be ravaged of resources and/or "civilized." The US has never taken nearly as much land as other colonial powers, and the nations that it conquered were rebuilt and given complete autonomy. This is NOT Rome.

  • @vitaminanime If it quacks like a duck, I say. Read Gibbon. Read Zinn. And I long ago gave up smoking, thank you.

  • As long as my team wins. GO AMERICA!!!

  • commie shit

  • @SeminarioMAE

Forget about presenting a cogent argument - just call it "commie shit". Says a lot about your level of intelligence and education.

  • DUH.

  • @Dogmeat1950

He's actually a great scholar - something you wouldn't understand.

  • @Helenmary123 um no he's not lol, way way way better people then this clown... it;''s funny because the story he tells is full of Errors... first of all a Bombardier is a officer and to be a Officer you must go to college. funny how he goes to college after the war. lol.

next your going to claim Max was a great person right? because his drunk ass wrote a book.

  • @Dogmeat1950

You're obviously an uneducated person. For a start, your grammar is appalling. "your going to claim" - that would be "you're going to claim". "Marx" not "Max".

Why don't you go on to a more appropriate site for someone of your low intellect.

  • @Helenmary123 O no spelling mistakes! to bad spelling never stopped people from doing great things in history.

  • @Dogmeat1950

Howard Zinn was a great man. You should try reading his book, "A People's History of the United States" if you would like a proper education on the United States and its sordid history of oppression & mass murder.

I have it in front of me. He uses sources that the sychophantic historians to the elite, ignore as irrelevant

It is a true history of the U.S. - not one that ignores the crimes of the elite, including the genocide perpetrated against the indigenous people.

  • @Helenmary123 "indigenous people." sorry but the weak fall it's how it is and will always be you should read up on some Roman writings.

"Howard Zinn " didn't know jack shit about history..

did he ever talk about how many tribes join the USA just to fight other tribes? did he talk about how the British Empire funded most of the tribes to attack the USA, I highly doubt he did.

    and really"A People's " if that isn't Communism lol.

  • @Dogmeat1950

    You're a psychopath.

Says a lot for capitalism that that world is on the brink on financial ruin because of monopoly capitalism LOL

50 million US citizens live below the poverty line, another 100 million live close to the poverty line.

What a triumph for the great bastion of capialism that tens of millions of Americans are without access to health care, decent education, a job, adequate food.

The US Empire is collapsing - a global, capitalist driven catastrophe.

  • The US has been high jacked by the Jewish bankers. The Jew ass kisser politicians jump as high as the Jew bankers and Israel tell them to. Americans are fighting in the Jews wars, and destroying itself in the process.

  • America does not practise imperialism. It practises hegemonism. A true imperial power, such as Rome or Britain, imposes peace on its conquered peoples and civilizes them. America exploits its client states without taking any responsibility for ensuring they are justly governed and assumes an attitude of moral superiority because it shirks that duty. Britain spread the Pax Britannica. America spreads the Pox Americana.

  • Wow, this was so eye-opening. I'm going to buy Dr. Zinn's book right now.

  • Idiot commies like Zinn don't seem to understand that the US is not the most evil thing ever created. Not only was it founded on beautiful ideals, but it has put them into practice for a gigantic amount of people. The US makes mistakes, but if you hold every other country to Zinn's standard of perfection, nearly every other country would be dripping with evil. I wonder if he would have ever done a people's history of the Soviet Union?

  • GO EMPIRE GO!!

  • Wow, I would never have realized this was Viggo Mortensen narrating. Fascinating stuff.

  • This is interesting but the narrator's monotone voice makes it very hard to pay attention to.

  • We need more people like you in the world! You see the world as it really is and I like that.

  • thanks for the share!

  • Compare America's empire with the Aimed At America 3 video.

  • What happened after WWII? The largest military contraction in world history. A true empire would have taken over the world.

  • @USTreasuryBond The America has taking over the world, but not by soldiers, but by their Israeli controlled economy which has left the world in crisis and is the only reason America fights wars, is for Jewish Bankers greed.

  • @philyB08 ok crackhead...

  • @USTreasuryBond With a name like USTreasuryBond i can only assume your a little kid trolling for arguments. So i'll end it here.

  • @philyB08 zionist not jewish dont fall into their trap

  • the truth knowledge is power

  • These things never end do they. Maybe evil was the wrong word. Have a great day!

  • its to late for America

  • Awesome!

  • YEA PROPAGANDA!!!!!!!

  • Good video on the whole, but every world principal is guilty of atrocities, and ours maybe not even as bad proportionately to other countries. On the whole the U.S. is on par for the course. Of course, the course is war, not peace.

  • @JhonnyDaemon Oh, so it's all okay then? Good. I was starting to feel a little dirty being a loyal American.

  • @lestertrad Why are you railing against one nation? Rally against the cause. These things are not unique to the U.S.

  • @JhonnyDaemon Not unique to the US, except that the US has brought imperialism and the abuse of power to a new level in terms of scope if not of degree. But worse, we've all participated and are continuing to participate in it. The question is how to stop it.

We're already rallying. If you know the cause, share your knowledge.

  • Comment removed

  • The cause is evil. It takes many forms, but ultimately there is a just and noble course by which all transpires. The further away from it we are individually, the less good. Individuals comprise groups, with insignias, animal standards, families, states, leagues, branches of every tribe and tag you can think of, but one thing we've yet to be proud of is our common humanity. One day soon, it will be better for the super rich to create a broader class. For the world is dying, and Mars is far.

  • @JhonnyDaemon I couldn't agree with you more! Evil is the cause. But instead of waiting for the super-rich to broaden the class and maybe include me so that I can do more evil than I have the means to do now, I prefer to work towards the evolution of our species.

  • @lestertrad Ordinarily you and I could agree, but what I'm saying is that they will eventually feel pressure to expand the game. But why would acquiring means signify that you want to do more evil than you do now? Money does not mean evil. Money is just another "thing" that is either used for good, or evil. Now if we are to use it for good, then more of it would come in handy.

  • @JhonnyDaemon Who are "they"? What is the "game" that might be "expanded"? Are you talking about reform? The means in fact belong to us, the 99%. And they are being used for evil. Reform is not likely to change that. We need to stop playing the game and grow up, and act as an adult nation.

  • I can't believe the denial that America has a history of war crimes, torture, and terror. You're all pointing the finger away, saying look at this country, or look at that country, as if you're sweeping the evidence under the rug. If you all want to deny the truth, then fine. Just because other nations have equally barbaric leaders as our own, it doesn't justify America's killing 7 million natives, or napalm villages in Vietnam. But go ahead, turn your heads away and make your excuses.

  • If the US pulled out of S. Korea, N. Korea Kim Jong il would go nuts. Then the whole world would point the finger at the US asking "How could you let this happen?" Lose-lose situation... Unless there's some really convincing evidence to the contrary, S. Korea seems to be in control of its own economy (and doing quite well).

  • for real, i'm sick of america's bullshit

my country (korea) has been divided because of american so called intervention to preserve the so called "freedom"...but that is fucking b.u.l.l.

what does it matter if south korea is "free", when america wants us to be in economic slavery?

  • Take a history book written in 1940 and one written within the last 10 years, and compare the two on how they describe America's history. One describes conquest and murder, the other describes defense and protecting freedom... Obviously, we've watered down the truth so our future generations don't hear about how barbaric we really are. -Sad, but true.

  • @Nauticalman I agree, This is a continuum of abhorrent behavior. Even today I continue to see massive distortions which are showboated as normality. I grew up in the 90s, and spent the bulk of my childhood staring into a television screen. The internet is such a revelation, it is making the inner workings of these institutions transparent. If we humans use our technology wisely we can become self determined. Our ability to speak and design are our greatest gifts.

  • Sounds like you were okay...until you went to College. But I guess America bashing is your right.

  • @SmallTimeAmerican Funny how people who go to college tend to end up accepting basic truths about our history, while those who are stuck with grade school myths prefer to revel in fantasy. Of course, a college education isn't the only way to disabuse yourself of such myths, but I somehow doubt you are motivated to get at the truth.

  • @SmallTimeAmerican Truth isn't bashing. Trail of Tears, Execution Rock, burning 90,000 civilians alive in Japan because we were losing WW2... they're all historical facts. If you don't like hearing about the horrors we inflict on the world, then perhaps America should stop committing such acts.

  • @Nauticalman You might want to dig a little deeper there. Sure, America isn't perfect, but it still doesn't come close to the rest of the world in terms of slaughter. Europe alone has managed to get over 100 million people killed this century through two World Wars. The Japanese killed millions of civilians. This fascination over America's actions in all honesty is just so people can turn a blind eye to their own faults. People, for whatever reason, airbrush their own faults and demonize America

  • @kppdsuckakppd I don't see how you can support that statement. America has participated in several slaughters this century. How many civilians died in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, the bombing of the Japanese mainland etc? How many more have died under regimes supported and funded by the US?

  • @kppdsuckakppd 7 million native americans were slaughtered so we could have what we call the "United" States. That doesn't sound barbaric to you? Because we've been playing the "they're a threat to us, we must kill them all" card ever since that slaughter. If not the natives, its the English, if not the English, then the Spanish, then the Germans, Japanese, Korean, burning Vietnamese children alive, Iraqi citizens blown out of their houses, or dragged out... America, the history of terror.

  • @Nauticalman America, the history of terror? I got a laugh out of that,. Europe exterminated almost every native in South/Central America. That is barbaric. Europe ruined Africa as well. More people die each year in Africa alone because of what colonial Europe did than the rest of the world's annual conflicts combined. Open a history book, compared to the rest of the world, America does a lot of good. More foreign aid than any other country by far, and 50% of the world food program.

  • @kppdsuckakppd Don't forget where the Europeans got their slaves from: they traded guns and rum with the coastal Africans in exchange for slaves from the interior.

Africans enslaved Africans (yes, it's true). There are also the Russian purges and the repressions preformed by North Korea and China.

  • This man is my role model

  • 'I was only following orders'...a German soldier once said. Than they hung him...

  • @QuickdrawandKabong Then they hanged him...

  • @QuickdrawandKabong um...no. SS officers got punished for what they did German Soldiers POW camps.

  • Howard Zinn was a World War 2 US combat veteran.

‎"The best method of being a missionary of awareness is true sharing and allow people to decide This will never be easy." ~ Max Rafael Waller

Post Script: For people to share so people can decide how they may use it.

  • Only when a nation achieves dominance, when its citizens grow with minimal fear of internal violence and when the threat of external attack has all but dissolved, when concern is focused on the quality of food, housing, medicine, never on access to them, can a generation rise with such self-pitying hatred of themselves and the success of their predecessors.

  • Great video but don't excuse the troops, they are just as culpable for either being sociopathic or ignorant.

  • @ubermisogynist - This applies to other organizations, public and private. People prefer to have a job instead of opposing bad leaders and management.

  • @ubermisogynist 'I was only following orders'...a German soldier once said. Than they hung him...

  • Great Video

  • Expand not our military power, but our humanity?

How can we expand something that is not there?

  • This is even more poignant in light of the horrendous illegal, attack and invasion against Libya :(

  • @footiebeanz I'm not certain what you are driving at with this comment. The Libyan operation is headed by NATO, was initiated by France, its primary operators are France and Great Britain, and NATO has not set foot in Libya, which would mean it has not been invaded. NATO has, however, provided air support for the Rebel army. Does this have to do with Oil? Absolutely! But not American oil, the U.S. imports little oil from Libya So, how do you perceive this as an American Imperialism?

  • thank you for taking the time to upload. This is the way to true freedom :)

  • suicidal Jihadists shred shoppers in malls with nail bombs and are excused by the Left as door-matted victims striking back at their oppressors; women are vilified, stoned, mutilated and killed by radical Muslims as Leftist feminists remain silent, save here in America where they rail mightily against a country club that's denied membership to a female executive. You are BEYOND STUPID!

  • @USAHavana No one is excusing terrorists. I have never heard anyone say that they are innocent. That is something people claim so they don't have to acknowledge the fact that the world does not function in black and white. The United States was born an empire, has grown wealthy and powerful as a result of its continued imperialism. There have been great atrocities committed in the name of the United States. That doesn't mean that other countries and peoples are not guilty as well.

  • @wintereis57 But NONE OF YOU BOTHER TO POINT THEM, INCLUDING, well YOU! What a shocker! FYI: America was founded on an idea, rather than by conquest, American made the new world democratic, America did away with the rule of monarchy and IT WAS Americans who founded the freest country in the world. "Great atrocities", PLEASE! Ask the maya who cut hearts out, ask the Ottomans, who beheaded half the mediterrenean, ask Stalin or Mao, Hitler or Pol Pot. WOW! You are truly indoctrinated, poor soul.

  • @USAHavana: Actually, I did say something about terrorism. I don't need to say more, as the topic is well covered. Hashing out the evils of terrorism is like reciting your ABC's while discussing the metaphysics of "Moby-Dick". Few Americans know or admit to U.S. imperialism. Your original post and subsequent reply, indicate that this describes you. There have been egregious acts committed by the U.S. That is fact. The question is if you can stand up to your government and say never again.

  • @wintereis57 Yeah, your pathetic ABC's..your hatred of the USA and of Western Civilization in general. In the immortal words of a bunch of Stanford Leftists: "Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho! Western Civ has got to go!" It is interesting that the ur ilk continually rails against Western Civilivation and Christianity, yet these are the very societies that have created the unprecedented freedoms to attack them from within. Something ur types try to skirt around at all costs, egregious indeed!

  • @USAHavana Wow, you really have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. "Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion."

Dwight D. Eisenhower "I love America more than any other country in this world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually." James Baldwin

  • @wintereis57 Your Libya comment makes me think I maybe wrong about you, if so, I apologize, however if you hate and blame the USA for everything, I take it back. Am sick of america bashing...remember, "enemies, Foreign & Domestic. You think the French, Germans, British are any better? They had EMPIRES, not us. Who has a better system than the USA, the Communists? The nazis, the Islamo-fascists? The Chinese? Ask tibet. Pakistan? Maybe Canada, but they have it, AT OUR EXPENSE. We pay the bill.

  • @USAHavana As to your comments about U.S. history I do not deny--and only idiots would--that the U.S. has had some very positive influences in the Western World. However, it has not been innocent in its history (not black and white), not even at its founding. From Slavery, the Trail of Tears, Wounded Knee, Hiroshima & Nagasaki, Japanese Internment, The Malai Massacre, The Guatemalan Genocide, The Invasion of Iraq, to the support of dictators like Mubarak and Pinochet. Should we ignore these?

  • @wintereis57 U ignore Castro, don't you? Japan INVADED us, they REFUSED TO SURRENDER. Check East germany's Stasi records and the soviet gulags, but that doesn't bother u. Japanese interment? How about german and Italian interment? Or the slaughter of US G.I's in the pacific. It was WAR, created by SOCIALISTS like ur beloved Zinn, National or International...SAME CRAP...INFORM YOURSELF, Mussolinni was communist, facts are stubborn..aren't they?

  • @USAHavana I don't see how any of your points are valid. All you are saying is look at them, not at me. That's like a three year old saying, "well, John hit Sally first and harder than me". The U.S. is supposed to hold itself to a higher standard, that is the idea it was founded on. And Mussolini was a Fascist, not a Communist, big difference. Fascism is blind patriotism where in a person believes their nation is superior to all and refuses to admit that it can do wrong (inform yourself).

  • @wintereis57 Mussolin worked for the local Socialist Party and edited its newspaper "The Future of the Worker". "John hit Sally" Really? Are u 5? Castro is ALIVE AND STILL KILLING and is still in POWER 90 miles away. Zinn ignores it, YOU ignore it, therefore, your views, like his, are nothing but CRAP! Cherry picking dead dictators, while live ones continue to terrorize and murder. Neither of you have any credibility, your America hatred blinds ur perplexed and UN-INFORMED "brains".

  • @USAHavana "Mussolini was among the founders of Italian Fascism, which included elements of nationalism, corporatism, national syndicalism, expansionism, social progress, and anti-socialism in combination with censorship of subversives and state propaganda."

  • HOWARD ZINN... SENATOR TOM HAYDEN...ABBIE HOFFMANN... A FEW OF THE GOOD WHITE MEN THAT DEALT WITH TRUTH...OVER RACIAL DOMINANCE...AND FOUGHT FOR EQUAL HUMAN RIGHTS RATHER THAN JOIN THE CONTINUANCE OF WHITE SUPREMACY ... WE ARE ONE

  • 800++ military bases world wide...it's expensive to run an empire...

  • @impalapez yes.. and the USA PAYS for those bases..which gives the USA a edge in deployment time making it so that with 24 hours the U.S Military can be anywhere to protect it's Citizens and it's Allies!

It's fucking Amazing how many dumb Civilians don't understand the world they live in.

"when in peace, prepare for WAR" any smart country will listen to those words and never forget them.

such a "Empire" when you half to pay for it lol.

  • @Dogmeat1950 It's amazing how many dumb citizens voluntarily SUBMIT and CONSENT to an obvious FOR PROFIT corporation operating in bankruptcy USA....

  • @Dogmeat1950 USA doesn't pay for anything...it BORROWS private script from the federal reserve...and there will NEVER be enough $ in circulation to EVER pay back what it borrows....always in debt keeps the dumb civilians toiling away at their jobs...but they don't mind so much, as long as they can watch the games on TV

  • @impalapez ya your retarded the USA pays for the bases also the Bases help grow Jobs around it, it's more of a win for the hosting country. the USA only gets "Strategic value" out of it.

also many of the bases are leased out like the one in the U.K it's a 99 year Agreement, but the USA still pays as a showing of good will. you clearly fail at this stuff lol, the ones in japan are because of the treaty.. also by treaty the USA is responsible for the protection of Japan. pick up a book

  • @Dogmeat1950 Ya you're retarded as well....how does the US pay for the bases? Tax $? Redistribution of wealth? $ could just as easily be spent on education, and technology to allow EVERYONE in the whole world to prosper...instead, it's spent on destruction...like the one in the U.K.? USA is an East India Company Venture...it IS THE UK....THE EMPIRE....which book should I pick up first? got any suggestions? Have you read the "law of Nations"?

  • @impalapez FAIL! go read about "Destroyers for bases" not all bases the USA pays for, some are granted by treaty.

Also, good job proving you don't know jack lol. you do know the U.S Government is not Responsible for Public Education right? that's falls to the states! yes the Fed gives money to education but they do not run it, Hell my states uses the state Lotto to build new schools and fund schools it works very well i might add.

  • @Dogmeat1950 all they are teaching is for kids to be smart enough to run the machines for the corporations to generate more profit. I comprehend the Treaties. How many of those treaties has the USA honored w/ the natives? Yeah, they're building quite and educational system huh?

  • @Dogmeat1950 Well, clearly YOU are a prime example of a public education. Your points/arguments might be taken more seriously if you would consider spell check, or even slightly more proficient grammar

  • @impalapez "public education." English was never my strong point more into history, also did some years in private school too.

Also you formed a incorrect sentence, don't corrects ones grammar if you can't do it your self. :)

  • @Dogmeat1950 AN incorrect sentence....but thanks for the heads up

  • @impalapez ".how does the US pay for the bases? Tax $? Redistribution of wealth?"

gee dummy, I wonder how troops get payed...... O right with money.

  • @Dogmeat1950 How many would SERVE if not for remuneration?

  • @impalapez "Empire destroys all those against it" tell me...what country has the USA taken over and claimed as there own in the last o 100 years? O wait none. the USA has invaded and taken over many countries since then but has always returned them to who they belong too.

I have a idea...go live the words of Howard Zinn.. MOVE out of your house and give it back to the Natives...O wait you won't lol. thank you for staying and loving the "EMPIRE"! :)

    your argument is invalid lol,

  • @Dogmeat1950 actually I'm researching the right of self determination, to leave this war state, and live in peace w/ my fellow brethren...you sir is the one who is incorrect. USA is a corporate fiction, a flag, a fantasy...wake up and smell the real world

  • @Dogmeat1950 Doesnt america has bases in hundreds of countries? American imperialismn destroyed popular revolutions in central america and around the world, But i guess you dont care about the rest of the world, but what about your own youth? Send to die in meaningless war, just to protect private interest.

  • @Alecal892 'popular revolutions " which one would that be? the communist one?

meaningless war? ah so you Support Bin Laden that's nice to know.

  • @Dogmeat1950 Revolutions because people where tired of US control, of being exploited, they were seaking their freedom. And you say communist as it was a bad thing, in theory, its supposed to bring a better society, as a reality, it was not more cruel and opresive than capitalism.

Irak had nothing to do with 9/11, and why invade a whole country, to capture a single man? But keep listenig to the warmongers, keep believing their lies, and keep killing and dying, while they profit.

  • @Alecal892 what the hell is "IRAK? you mean Iraq?

no they really didn't have much to do with 9/11 HOWEVER the refused to let U.N inspectors in, and they violated the 1991 treaty several times before that. Saddam had it coming.

and here you are talking about "Communism in theory" well guess what IT doesn't work and NEVER will.

and if you think it does you should meet my father he killed plenty of commies and know what they are all about.

  • @Alecal892 "why invade a whole country, to capture a single man?" it's not the first time the USA has invaded a country to catch one man. also it's NEVER 1 man... O right it we just would have got Hitler the war in Europe would have ended right? lol hahaha rofl. damn your funny.

I love talking to people who don't know history..

and as for South America..Che Guevara wasn't in Cuba when he was killed.. I'll let you think about what he was doing.

  • @Dogmeat1950 Keep listenig to them, keep sending your kids to opress other people. Keep sending to be mutilated by rockets. Keep sending them to spill their blood for oil. Keep sending them only to come back and become jobless. Its obvious you have a black and white morality, that you are not willing to listen to those your elite clasifies as "enemies", you keep doing that, and the only thing you will get is endless war and misery trought the world.

  • @Alecal892 rofl hahaha that';s your come back?

sounds like you lost the debate lol.talk about a massive change in subject.

you know Howard Zinn would be Elite right lol?

the USA will keep the trade lanes free for all to trade with...or are you saying it's ok for China to claim the South China sea as there own? because as of right now.. that's what China is doing go ahead look it up. you see that's imperialism

  • @Dogmeat1950 How is it any different than the US sending its world's largest navies patrolling foreign waters (for example, the Taiwan strait) which US has completely no jurisdiction in? US has over 200 military bases in foreign soil, in most cases against the wish of the foreign government and their peoples (for example, the US Okinawa base in Japan caused Yukio Hatoyama to resign)? US invaded a country simply for oil. You want to see 21st century imperialism? Look no further than the USA.

  • @devilhunterred because the USA isn't claiming international waters you dumb fool!!

U.S Base in Okinawa is there because of WW2 and due to the treaty with Japan.

USA is a friend and ally of Taiwan we will protect them and make sure they remain free from the mainland.

you want to see Imperialism go look at China fool, don't be blind they are also now claiming the Spatly Island, has control over the water flown into Vietnam, hell even Vietnam is want the USA back.

  • @Dogmeat1950 Every country in Southeast Asia is claiming ownership of Spartly Island, not just China. Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. I guess by your defintiion they are all imperialistic?? What a joke. And please tell me the purpose of having a US military base in Japan? Is Japan going to invade Asia and start another world war anytime soon? Hell no. Every Japanese wants the US military base in Okinawa removed. Vietnamese still hates Americans, you only need to visit the country and talk to the people

  • @devilhunterred fuck tard.....China is CLAIMING the whole damn ocean around it! it's one thing to claim the islands... but the fucking ocean.. and China is the furthest away from the damn islands lol.

"Every Japanese wants the US military base in Okinawa removed" that's why japan just extended the U.S military there. the U.S Military is closing some bases on the island and moving them to Australia but there are plenty more in Japan.

also by treaty the USA must defend Japan.

  • @Dogmeat1950 Fucktard is the one who can't differentiate a sea and an ocean. A.K.A, you. China isn't claiming an ocean, China can't claim the Pacific, moron. China is claiming South China Sea, and it is internationally called the South China Sea for valid reasons, in case you haven't noticed. EVERY Japanese wants the US base gone, go to Japan and ask anyone. That's why Yukio Hatoyama was elected by the Japanese, he promised to remove the US base in the campaign but couldn't, thus he resigned.

  • @devilhunterred does it Matter!?

do your ok with the USA claiming all of the Gulf of Mexico as their own?

cause that's what China is doing, China is also cutting thje water flow to Vietnam causing the Delta to get lower it's so bad that Vietnam is allowing the U.S Navy to make port stops now.

    wake the fuck up retard.

"EVERY Japanese wants the US base " REALLY...really... that's why Japan just asked for more Defense by the USA against North Korea.... man your such a tard.

  • @Dogmeat1950 Yes, really. EVERY Japanese wants the American base gone. Have you even BEEN to Japan? You never seen the anti-US protests outside of the Okinawa base on a daily basis? You never saw the massive public anger when US soldiers were exempted from being tried in a Japanese court for the crimes they committed in Japan? Talk to ANY Japanese, and everyone of them will tell you they don't want the US base in their country. Oh, and as if Japan needs help in a war against N.Korea, fucktard.

  • @devilhunterred protest of a few does not represent a country.

"Talk to ANY Japanese" I have..they like the USA they and understand the Importance, yes they would like some bases closed. over all however. they need the USA in the area.

Again your argument is invalid due to the fact that the Japanese passed bills for the USA to increase it's presence as of last year.

and remember it was the U.S Military that pulled 39% of the work during that disaster that hit Japan.

  • @Dogmeat1950 Japanese voted for Yukio Hatoyama in 2009 solely because he promised to close down the Okinawa US base, and he resigned in 2010 because he realized he couldn't, because the US basically bullied Japan into continuing the lease to the US military. Government =/= People. US Congress passed the Patriot Bill to spy on civilians without a warrant, it doesn't mean the US people wanted the bill. US gov decided to go to war in Iraq, it doesn't mean US people wanted the war.

  • @devilhunterred Lets also not forget why and how those bases got on Japan. :)

Japan is a great place... but how about you go ask them why they don't teach about Nanking in there text books. :)

  • @Dogmeat1950 I never said Japan is a great place. I'm Chinese and there are a lot about the attitude of the Japanese government in regards to their atrocities in WWII that leaves a lot to be desired. It still doesn't change the fact that majority of Japanese wants the US base in their country gone. So do the Koreans, Germans, Greeks, Singaporeans, Turks, Italians. You want to see true imperialism? Just look at how many foreign military bases US has, and how many wars US started since 1945.

  • @devilhunterred holy crap. it's not Imperialism when your PAYING for the fucking area and asking to be there.

USA has it's presence in the world because, when the USA sits on the side lines the world goes to shit. I rather have the USA with it's bases then China. who's goal is CLEARLY to take over.

When you country is in Trouble who are you going to call for help? odds are USA.

  • @devilhunterred 'Turks" you mean how they passed a deal allowing the USA expand... you see your failure to keep up with events is hurting you.

how about the fact that Vietnam is now thinking about letting the USA base ships there now.. or is that Imperialism?

  • @Dogmeat1950 Haven't you read what I wrote 2 comments ago? Government =/= people. Just because the government made a deal with the US (for the benefits of its politicians) doesn't mean the Turkish public supported it. US invaded Iraq for what? So that US oil companies can move into the country while the common Americans continue to pay taxes to fund a war that they absolutely do not benefit from. You are more naive than I thought if you think the actions of a government represents the people.

  • @impalapez O mean listen to the guys intro vid lol.

Empire or Humanity.. REALLY? jee didn't know Empires where so anti-humanity...it was a EMPIRE that started trail by JURY!

  • @Dogmeat1950 It's empire that still runs trial by jury...and all in the name of commerce...all roads lead to Rome. Humanity OR Empire is exactly that. Empire destroys all those against it "you're either with US or with the Terrorists"?? that kind of mentality....just because they came up w/ some decent parts of modern society/civilization does not equate them w/ perfection....

  • God bless America and all those She has robbed,

    raped, exploited,murdered and enslaved.......

    Oh,that's right.

    There is no God.

    Enjoy, wasi'chu!

  • @sittingcrazyhorse I had long wondered why people LIKE YOU had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit ur throat than you do about your own country, No matter how mad the plan is, Fraternité, the ‘New Soviet Man,’ , the Cultural Revolution, Building a New Society, your ilk will believe it. leftism is motivated by envy and greed , perpetuated by ignorance and ambition and inevitably bound to end in massive chaos and bloodletting, as well wanton cruelty and sadism,

  • @USAHavana Hahaha. Spoken like a true corporate neo-con. These"people who would slit my throat" that YOU speak of "They" never forced my ancestors to live on reservations with rivers filled with run off from uranium mining. "They" never broke treaty after treaty out of greed and a lust for power. "They" never subjected my ancestors to genocide or me discrimination. But, I digress. Tell us all how the Arawak Indians were treated by the Europeans in Cuba. Your fight is not with me. Peace, friend.

  • war good for the econmy as long as thats true nothing will ever change

  • This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever watched

  • @1321Fest Perhaps you need to read more broadly? Are you hypnotized by Fox News?

  • Hmm, in my school we learned all of this, but it was all for the safty of our people and that most people wouldn't understand why we did a lot but there was, it was all for protection of the us people.

  • BP has made negotiations with the new Iraqi Govt. for subsidies if they are haulted on drilling oil..hmmmm...

  • @tanvo93 And folks wonder why we invaded! Prior, Iraqi oil was nationalized. Not anymore. Hmm!

  • Viggo Mortensen, what are you doing here? You were fucking Aragorn, for God's sake, you're better than this shit!

  • @TheGoldenKing20 Don't fret punkin', everything's fine. Go back to playing WWC and don't let the mean man bother you.

  • Export our humanity?

    What "humanity"?

  • This is all true, and something that most people in the US will not be exposed to in public schools. In order to get a real qualkity education, you must get it yourself.

  • Fighting against German occupation of Europe does not seem imperialist, because we did not stay there and occupy. There's a big difference between military bases in Europe and the Louisiana Purchase and manifest destiny. Even if WWII was imperialist, that was not the time to stop it. Japan is a great country now, we didn't just kill everyone and steal their land. I like Zinn, but he seems to be rambling here.

  • @Inigecko Lol we still have 50,000 troops in Germany. I know it's not what you mean by "occupy" but if you question why we still have them there, the only sensible answer is imperial ambition--and I don't mean conquering Germany. In Japan, we may not have killed everybody, but we killed a whole lot of people (~180,000 in the nuclear bombings) and left a whole lot more to deal with harmful radiation residue. Obviously we cannot steal Japan's land; but we have other ways of controlling them.

  • aragorn, don't you have king duties to attend to? or a liv tyler to have rough, biracial sex with?

  • say what you must. did this do any good for us? is our economy better? the fundamental truth for everyone is "can i put food on the table and give my family a home?" no. screw the powers in charge. but more important can we make a new political party that has power or can achieve power. no we cant so we are f--ked.

  • Not a wise career move by Mortensen, I think. Becoming a dissident is only recommended once you have earned your money, and your family is safe. Only then can you start to critizie your government openly.

  • The Imperialist does not know he is one. Same for spies. Same for bullies. They just do what they were given the opportunitiy to do. Then they blame their victims for being weak.

  • Gosh, I can't believe I just wasted 8+ minutes of my time listening to Zinn's nonsense (albeit through a more palatable nararator). All Zinn does is whine, more to the point he does so from the comforts of his 2 multi-million dollar homes! Hates America, hates Classism, and yet he ensconces himself in the American Upper Class. Hypocrisy personified.

  • @jackiesjon part of the reason we are in this mess today is because we are so divide
