While I believe in voting for a canidate based on his merit over his race, race would certainly play a factor. And I never saw Obama give a substantial reason for the black community NOT to vote for him. Most of the issues he espoused were not extremely divisive amongst that demographic. And given that, his already substantial charisma, and the larger historical opportunity they had to put a black man in office, why not vote for him?

I like Obama a lot and wanted him to win by a landslide (being a foreigner.. wink wink). But you are right a lot of people vote in ignorance, for both sides of the isle. All you have to do is watch interviews with the some of the voters.

While I believe in voting for a canidate based on his merit over his race, race would certainly play a factor. And I never saw Obama give a substantial reason for the black community NOT to vote for him. Most of the issues he espoused were not extremely divisive amongst that demographic. And given that, his already substantial charisma, and the larger historical opportunity they had to put a black man in office, why not vote for him?

you missed my point. MIchael Moore is insinuating that all the white people voting for mccain are doing so out of ignorance and racism, because they don't want a black man in the white house.
But the opposite is true, 95% of african americans voted for a black man. I have a hard time believing that 95% of a population of millions are in total agreement over policy issues.

McCain does say later, "I believe I'm the better candidate." The banks are failing in England also. Japan had a similiar problem a few years back and is recession. This isn't just OUR banks.

I agree. We have every right to be afraid of a man that lies about growing up Muslim. His mother was a known athiest and married two Muslim men. People believed Obama and didn't do their homework. He paid a lot for those speeches...and bought the youth.

I personally am an avid supporter of Obama. However what John McCain did here was not anything racist or discriminatory, he was simply stooping to the level of the woman asking the question because in her head; Arab = BAD, Christian = GOOD. He was not going to give her a lecture on socio-racial conduct. McCain does not at all strike me as a racist man.

the biggest gripe the capitalists have is that big govmint will take away their stuff. get real. parties over. isolationism is obsolete, which we practiced pre-WWII. its time government took away the toys of some very overfed babies and helped those that are crippled under a glass ceiling. yes, we do have those in this 'free' country.

That lady is gone mad..but this guy should have replied much better, disappointing to hear that reply. If He were to be president, how would he face his Arab counterparts when he visit them on a diplomatic tour. McCain's conceding speech was pure class, and Obama's was inspiring and inclusive. What a shame we live in a world where two men of character have to wade through slime. You never heard anyone shouting hate or death threats at Democrat events, like what happened at Republican ones...

i feel bad for this poor woman. it was a rumor started by fox news that obama went to a madrassa and oh look his middle names hussein. some people will believe anything "the news says". i think mccain handled it well enough and showed that he is a good man as he proved again in his concession speech although we like to think he is satan incarnate by being with the republican party. mccain is a good man but obama will be a great president. here's to defeating inaccurate pseudo journalism!

Is Obama racist because he refuses to use his middle name and does not refer to his past much. NO because these things should not matter. I'm a Muslim and even I wouldn't know how best to respond to the lady.
