Besides, it looks better to have shoulders within 2 or 3 inches of the chin level. Lengthen the spine, free the neck. Balance the head a top the shoulders,ears above the shoulders. The sternocleidomastoids will help to pull up the clavical and the sternum. With it will rise the chest because it also assists in breathing along with the trapizius muscle.

SCM is an accessory muscle involved in respiration...particularly when breathing apically, i.e. into your chest and shoulders.
