I've noticed this too. Its either straight piano acoustic, or something like this.

I don't know. This song is my favourite coldplay song in terms of musical arrangements. I really wish they would do that right.

I mean its not like we don't know what the chord arrangements are. Anyone can pick up an acoustic guitar and play that song.

But those guitar solo's that Johnny plays throughout that song.... that's what makes it so amazing.

The album version of the Hardest Part has multi-layered piano parts and it's way over-produced in my opinion. It can't actually be performed as it sounds live because of that. I prefer this acoustic verssion.

I was on the floor in that corner where they did that. Everyone on the floor basically tried to walk over to that side of the floor and we had to tell them to stay in their seats.

God I love this. I've always thought the album version of the Hardest Part is too busy sounding - like they've guilded the lilly with it. Stripped down to the basic melody on guitar makes it sound so much better to me.

I agree that this version has a quaint and mellow charm and the original is very loud and layered but i am partial to the original myself because i believe that this "business" you spoke of served a poetic purpose. It seems to inundate the listener with so much sound that you feel overwhelmed and helpless which is in accordance with the lyrical aim of the song. What do you think?

not many people really think of this song as one of their best but The Hardest Part is one of the best melodies in any of their songs. one of their best.

I agree. This song has always been a favorite of mine. I think this was the first time they sang it live at a concert. I was so happy they did. Best. Concert. Ever.
