@hondabigredatc nope..... its the turbo, called compressor surge. mostly due to the fact that GNs never came with any sort of blow-off valve/diverter valve

@driftfreak31 yes 3.8l 231ci v6 single turbo and intercooled engine that gets like 24mpg and is fast as hell. you can hear the compressor surge from the throttle plate closing in the manifold and the air backs up into the turbo making that chopping my dads audi does it sometime

Good lord there are some stupid people in this thread. First, im not killing any bearings with the turbo surge, the turbo is still going strong and the car just trapped 126 mph. In no way am i killing the car... what a bunch of retards The reason i let off the gas and have the surge is because if i don't vary the throttle it loads up on alky and bogs. 90% of turbo buick owners do not run a BOV and have no problems. Thanks for the replies to those that enjoyed a nice fun burnout :)

Most of our cars do not use a Blow Off Valve

They are automatic transmissions so we do not make the turbo sneeze at full boost like a Manual trans would.

What you are hearing is the Turbo Sneeze back through the intake piping.

and yeah it sounds cool but can cause damage to the thrust bearings in the turbo.
