I just listened to some covers and wasn't impressed, but since I haven't listened to Talen for a while I figured I'd stop by and give her a listen. The beauty of her singing is as much in her melody as the way the words shake and shudder and maybe even partially skip, like an old record. But she's not old and neither is the music. It's the way it was meant to be played, performed.

This is incredible. One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

Here I am, fired up for the telluride bluegrass festival, stuck in my office, and looking up past winners of the troubador contest. I had to get all the way back to 2002 before I found a winner like this. Straight to the heart and fills you with that ache of emotion that only real (and rare!) music can. Thank you Deb for putting a little more beauty and wonder into the world. Wow.
