i remember Elisabetta Maschio when she conducted here in Peru L'Italiana in Algeri where i made the Haly role. She also conducted that year Il Trovatore.
Ho assistito alla sua interpretazione allo Sferisterio di Macerata nel luglio 2002. La sua Gilda rimarrà per sempre nella mia memoria, un'interpretazione amozionante ed indimenticabile! Grazie Roberta!

fine voice, great technique, I like the way she actually sings the music - no problems here! the voice will sound great on cd though - pinggg on the note. brava
Please tell me that this soprano's voice is larger than it sounds here? She is lovely, but the sound makes her seem to have a tiny voice like Lily Pons- Also in the ist part the pace is quite fast. Bruson I beleive slowed the conductor down (and rightly) saving the faster temp for the finale- Thanks for posting this!

"Bel Canto" is a training of the singer and the listener as well. It is usually a revelation to hear good production when there is so much really bad singing around, even in Italy, sorry to say. But one's ears must be prepared for it. Maria Callas talks about it here in one of the clips on youtube.
Unforced clear production like Gigli's, is practically a dinosaur among tenors. There is hope for "bel canto" is the public will hear it and come to demand it. Good for you!!
