  • Wonderfull with one word. Im german, parents from Anatolia but somehow the passion in the music beginning 5.12 makes me feel smooth. Can´t explain it. It´s full of magic. Please if there are some greek brothers who understand what the guy is singing about, explain it to me....

  • "The Cretans used their guns and made noise when they danced, to cover up the crying of Zeus so his father Cronos, could not hear it."

    Esiodos 7th cen. b.c.

  • ""The Cretans used their guns and made noise when they danced"". I'm from Ayvalik Turkey, half of us are Cretan Turks, they are the same.

  • During the Turkish occupation of Crete thousands of people gave up Christianity to survive the Turkish opression.and became Muslims.

In 1924 with the exchange of the populations all Cristians from Asia Minor left Turkey and the Muslims of Greece left for Turkey. Yes you are a Greek Muslim. Yes you cook the same food. Yes you dance the same way. Yes your grand father was speaking Greek. Regards from your lost Greek brothers.

  • We have Greek Muslims who still speak Greek as their mothertongue. They are called "Patriot". But you are mistaken my friend, not all Cretan Muslims are Greeks. There are also thousands of Cretan Turks. Hidden nationalist message in your reply is annoying.

  • turks didnt forced any nation to change their religion. if we did, greeks would be muslim now. 400 years is long enough to convert a nation into islam.

  • No, they just had to pay special taxes and could not be civil servants in the Ottaman Emipre ... the decline of that Empire started from the moment that the Romans (Greeks) where excluded from important gouvernment posts ... and we will not talk about the what happenend in Greece, Crete, Smyrni, Constantinoupoli ... even in the 1950's with the support of the Turkish gouvernment.

  • @HansKerr

the last minister of external affair of ottoman was an armenian.

  • k i do not no why you people are comparing the cretan violin and lyra with your stupid kemence there not the same there completely different
