The step-by-step tutorials are more for users who are just starting, and they are more about teachin you how to use each tool.

They are different. It's kinda like if your highschool calculus teacher fully explained the concept of addition every time he added a number while explaining derivatives.

How made that kind of blow colours? I made new layer, check it and in 1:55 choose gradient. But when I did it anything appears like in 1:56. When I draw gardient's line colours are black&white. I know i have to overlay after but I can't figured out those colours with gardient.

dont worry the main idea is select a layer select a potion to a desired shape and delete the selection and put another multi coloured layer underneath it so you can see it through deleted potion. (remember to feather the selection before you cut it) and keep duplicating the multi colored layer so the color intensity will get brighter

Use ctrl+j to duplicate..

The steps for the part you said are, create a new layer, make a similar gradient on this layer, and in the blend options choose Overlay.. and then you have it.

you must turn the Fill percentage to 0 before applying the inner glow, or otherwise the leaf won't be transparent as it should be.

Yeah, I find verbal instructions along with the video to be extremely helpful, especially since I'm using Photoshop Elements 3, and oftentimes I must find alternative ways to achieve certain effects. after making the leaf rasterize the layer and take the magic wand to mark the leaf or hold ctrl and press the leaf layer.Go to Select > Feather, set a radius of 5px and press ok.then fill the inside of the leaf with the same color as the background.now you can copy it and make every shape you like.
