  • Putting "Tolerance" in the title of this hate-filled video is the equivalent of putting up the sign "Arbeit Macht Frei" over the entrance to a concentration camp.

  • "It seems so ridiculous I could be with my partner for 17 years and we have a son, and my partner and I can't get married."

    Sir Elton John

  • Hahahahahahahaha.

It's funny because this couldn't be further from the truth.

  • How can you possibly preach that this is tollerance? You're entitled to have your opinion all you want, but you can't take away mairage rights from two people because of them. Your right to throw punches ends at my face. You can preach against homosexuality all you want but the second you try to pass legislation that infringe on my rights is when your right to do so ends. Why not have tollerance for all mairages?

  • @JarvisComics well in their sick minds, intolerance is just fine as long as a fictional book written by man (the bible) says it is

  • so your telling me that forcing YOUR idea of what marriage should be and denying other's their BASIC right which IS STATED IN THE CONSTITUTION is tolerance?Guess what? Its not. This is pretty much like putting gays on the back of the bus. You are denying them a pursuit of happiness. If you honestly think that gays being married will ruin marriage then you have not looked at history. There are women being sold for cows and forced into marriage still today. Gays won't destroy marriage, you will.

  • Your religious belifes are not how religion is defined in our state and it shouldnt be. Thats great that you think that your religion defined marriage but it didnt so stop claiming it all to yourself. My religion says only gay people should be married and divorce should result in you having your sexual organs removed. I think that should be enforced? Its my religion why not right?

  • Believing that christian-style wizard ordained marriages should not take place=/= preventing other people from marrying. This video is divorced from reality

  • why where they saying be tolent when voting yes would be intolent what losers they are the ones that will really burn in hell not gay people

  • A compromise is mutually agreed upon by both parties, not forced on a vulnerable minority by a bigoted mob. Try again.

  • These sorts of claims were roundly debunked by Dr Tam's examination in the Prop 8 trial. Dr. Tam was the lead campaigner for Prop 8 in the Asian community. He even stepped in to defend Prop 8 against this case (before he tried to withdraw). His testimony illustrates that these sayings are mere slogans, covering up bigotry.

I encourage anybody who is interested to look it up. Just search YouTube for Prop 8 Trial Day 8 Chapter 4. It's all laid bare for anyone to see. Captivating.

  • last i checked tolerance would have meant voting NO on 8

  • 1. Being gay is not a "lifestyle."

    2. There is respect for people to HAVE religious beliefs. We should NOT allow them to incorporate their religious beliefs into policies.

  • You aren't tolerating people if you take away their rights! People, ALL people should have the right to marry who they LOVE.

  • Screw religion. Gay is good and God is not real! screw religion and be nice to EVERYONE.

  • wow....what bigotted asshats. Believe what you want, just don't force it on other people. You people are on the wrong side of history here. Your grandchildren will be embarrassed. Stop the H8TE. Gays tolerate christians but christians dont want to tolerate gays. There is no reason straight people should have rights that homosexual people dont. Stop being judgemental authoritarian sheep and think for yourself.

  • What's "discrimnation"? Is it the same as "discrimination"?

  • So if gays are able to marry, heterosexuals can't believe in the sanctity of their marriages? Huh? If two guys affects how you feel about your spouse, maybe you should examine the quality of your relationship rather than try and restrict the rights of others.

And what about the many churches who want to be able to legally marry their gay and lesbian members? What about their rights?

  • People tolerate things they don't like. It's a type of prejudice. Intelligent people appreciate their fellow citizens, instead of "tolerating" them (and really crusading to take away their rights).

  • What does 'religous' mean? Is it like religious?

You'd thing religious groups would spell their own shit right before putting it in a video.

  • lol *k

  • Which opera is the music from?

  • I was wondering that too. My tastes run a bit earlier, Monteverdi to Cavalli; this sounds mid-classical, 1790-1820 or so. Mozart? I bet if we identified it we could find some delicious misogyny to throw back at the haters.

  • Gays are going to win marriage rights, its only a matter of time.

  • yup on prop 8

  • the only line thats been over used is "protecting marriage" bs the "we dont believe in equal rights" agenda

  • Comment removed

  • yeah prop h8 is about bigots and hatefilled people pushing their beliefs on other people

  • how is second class citizenship tolerance?

    thats what prop h8 supports

  • Gay filth are campaigning, even now, to ban marriage between people of the opposite sex. Now, let's rewind the clocks 85 years. Blacks knew their place. Gays stayed in the closet. Hippies weren't even born. What happened, America, did our balls fall off? These gays need to be rounded up and locked up, for the children. If not, George Soros will fund domestic terror and millions will die. Gays are filth. At least whatevalife, ctchampagne and I know that.

  • no its the narrow minded bigots like you that need to be locked up for our childrens safety, intolerance and hatred is wrong

  • hate to break it to you but tolerance for all californians would be a no on 8

  • Religion has no place in government! Repeal Prop 8!

  • So, other people have to practice your religious beliefs (i.e. not marrying someone of the same sex) or they are violating your rights? So, by that logic, we have to constitutionally ban consumption of pork or we are forcing Jewish people to accept that it's okay to eat non-kosher meat. Right?

  • Yeah, more or less.

  • Wow, there are some spectacularly dumb and ignorant comments here.

    Prop 8 is an embarrassment.

  • This video is another attempt at bigotry disguised by "tolerance". Any law the forbids one group of taxpaying, law abiding citizens from doing ANYTHING that another group can do is unconstitutional...period! If one group of people can drink out of a water fountain and the other can't, that's unconstitutional. Disguising "tolerance" in YOUR religious beliefs is VERY unconstitutional!

  • PREACH!!! ^_^ I cannot believe it, people have actually been so consumed by lies and manipulation they ACTUALLY think they are not doing anything wrong by being ignorant bigots.... *sigh... One Step Forward and Two Steps Back For America...

  • Thanks man!

  • What lies? Everything in the vid was true. Stop bashing rational Prop 8 supporters by firing up emotionally charged arguments that mask your intolerance towards conservative Christians. I'm one of them, and personally, I'm very tolerant to gays and I want them to have the same rights even though I disagree with their lifestyle. But calling marriage something its not? No thanks.

  • And I suppose that someone appointed you to tell us who the "ignorant bigots" are...

Stop these Ad Hominem attacks. Calling us bigots doesn't make it so. All you have your insults; you have no substantial logical points.

  • Before Prop 8:

Respect for Diverse Lifestyles (as per in re Marriage Cases)--check

Respect for Religious Beliefs (1st amendment, not affected by in re Marriage cases)--check

    After Prop 8:

Respect for Diverse Lifestyles--what you call respect, I call discrimination

Respect for Religious Beliefs--in some cases, but what about religions that approve of gay marriage? How are they respected?

Get back to work "recruiting" straight people, last 3 commenters. I think discrimination is wrong.

  • it does not even make sense that gayfers want to marry each other. its gross anyway. sickening. disgusting. immoral. perverted. Any man who looks at another man in that way needs to have his head examined...

and all of you who get on here and claim to be straight YET for gay rights etc are just as sick.

I mean why would a real man want anything to do with a perverted sissy?? Why would you vote to help make more?? They arent born gay they become gay and then they recruit more pervs. Think!

  • I wanted to point out something very interesting about the whole "equal rights" thing. That label has been stretched so many times in history. Slave owners actually argued that their rights were threatened when the North attempted to limit slavery before the Civil War. They felt that all Americans have equal rights and that included their right to move "property" (slaves) to new territories. Equal rights DOES NOT mean giving people the right to do wrong.

  • True. I agree with your comment that "Equal rights DOES NOT mean giving people the right to do wrong"

  • 1 Corinthians 11:5 And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved.

1 Corin. 11:7 For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man, for man was not made for woman, but woman from man, neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.

When will this become state law?

  • According to my religion, eating meat is a sin. Should the purchase and consumption of meat be illegal by people who do not profess my faith be illegal?

No. That is between you and God, not between you and the state.

The U.S.A. was founded on the constitutional separation of church and state and freedom of religion.

Prop 8 is Un-American and unpatriotic.

Should all American women wear bonnets because the Mennonites (Amish) believe that the God demands a woman's head to be covered?

  • What? Who says you don't have the right to believe in the "traditional" form of marriage if same-sex marriage is legal? Last time I checked, voting no on Prop 8 wouldn't force you to marry your same gender. Morons.

  • I am from Montana and am not sure I understand what is going on here. I thought California Family Code section 297.5 protects domestic partnership rights of ALL California residents and bans discrimination. So, what difference does it make if marriage is reserved for a man and woman if legally same sex unions/domestic partnerships have all the rights a couple could need legally? doesn't that give all couples rights re: insurance coverage, etc? for same sex and heterosexual couples?

  • People still live in Montana ?!?

  • Yes, SinkingDesire,we actually have one million people in Montana, but cows do outnumber us! But, we like it this way..

  • ha ha. No comment. Just found that funny :D

  • It does. California law guarantees rights to everyone and reserving marriage to be between a man and woman does nothing to that. Liberal activists want you to think otherwise though, and so they say we're lying when we tell them that gays have all the same rights. After all, if that were proven true to the voters, would they even have a case?

  • Great video. Seriously. The people had to decide twice. The people voted twice (or at least that many times?) 4 judges deciding and not the people? I'm so glad the people finally decided, and Prop 8 passed! Yay!!!!

  • Since now the definition of marriage is defined simply as 'between a man and a woman' and overides all other laws regarding such , it is now possible for a father to marry his daughter, a brother his sister , a mother her son and of course the ultimate irony , transexuals to whom ever they wish. Way to go you right wing freeks!

  • the very title of this clip speaks to its blindness.

  • wow.. lame ass video, lame ass music, lame ass argument to a lame ass cause. vote NO on prop 8, period. 0 stars for this one.

  • To JBleezz91 and heavenboundsaint:

Gentlemen, we can do without the accusations, profanity, and disrespect on both sides of this discussion.

The whole point of this video is to illustrate that there can be compromise, tolerance, and respect for each other on both sides. I, for one, believe that we must balance protecting traditional marriage AND protecting domestic partnership rights.

Voting YES on 8 restores the balance that Californians voted for 8 years ago.

    YES on 8!

  • @prop8isgreat denying equality to gays and lesbians isnt tolerance to them

  • @prop8isgreat voting yes on 8 denies equal rights to many californians

and real tolerance is no on 8

  • OK I am seriously getting pissed off now. Now I'm only going to say this once

writing one religion's definition of marriage into law is religious discrimination because you are saying that any other religions definition is wrong.

So either stop using religious discrimination to back up your side or speak the truth about it.

    God damn!

  • its not "relgions definition" it is Gods, the creator of the universes definition.

you shouldn't take the name of the Lord in vain just because He doesn't approve of sodomy.

  • It's sad that this video promotes discrimination as "tolerance." Prop 8 ELIMINATES A LEGAL RIGHT. That's tolerance? That's DISCRIMINATION. That's selecting a minority for different treatment. Separate is never equal!

    VOTE NO ON PROP 8

  • Please. This "legal right" you're referring to was created out of thin air by 4 San Francisco judges just a few months ago.

Should a small percentage of Californians really have the "legal right" to unilaterally redefine marriage for everyone? What happens when the polygamists come to town?

As for "separate" not being "equal," don't you think men's and women's restrooms are still a pretty good idea? There are plenty of ways to respect peoples' differences without ignoring them.

    YES on 8!

  • Flordia YES on amendment 2

    California YES on prop 8

    Arizon YES on prop 102

  • God hates you.

  • which proves you don't know Him!

remember people these people are against God and only want at your children!

Real men its time to make a stand!

  • These people are born gay and only want at eachother, they will leave my children alone and will have no effect on me or you.

"God" created people this way, and your intolerance will only make God less tolerant of you.

  • intollerance, homophobic, bigot, hate...whatever!

Gods laws have not changed and He does not make people sodomize each other!

Please do use scripture references to back up what you say about God.

God is intollerant of sin...check out the crusifixion. also see..Great White Throne, Hell, Lake of Fire. That should give you a clue of how much He hates sin.

And yes it will effect all of us. Remember Sodom & Gomorah?

    YES Prop 8

  • The Bible is not an official historical text.

  • So who would have to decide for it to be one?

God is our creator. He has had his prophets write text, and we can believe his words or not. Hopefully we do. Please let us not start to think we are smarter than God.

  • Well it is full of contradiction, racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance etc.

I do not believe the bible as it was written during a time of high amounts of prejudice, however if God does choose to be a bigot, I will be the first to claim a higher level of intelligence than God.

  • It is true that God doesn't hate you. He loves you. But trust me you have a long way to go before you even come close to saint hood.

You preach hate fear and ignorance instead of actually learning about it and preaching love. God is Love Satan is Hate seems pretty straight forward to me.

And as for the real men thing come on. You just made it pretty clear how ignorant you truly are on the issue.

It's ok though God still loves you even if a lot of people probably don't

  • JBleezz91,

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom"

    *fear-God

    *hate- sin

*ignorance- of Gods law will not excuse you from judgment!

    * love= John 3:16

It doesnt matter if people love me...Jesus said, "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."

  • How many homos were in Eden? other than Satan?

Adam was created in the image of God, we in the image of Adam. We are sinners by birth and by choice. Fornication (sex outside of marrigae between man and a woman)is a sin. Promoting it is wicked.

  • There is a difference between hating the person and hating the wrong. God loves all people including rapists, murders, and thieves. That doesn't mean he going to let them continue doing wrong does it? Why then would he allow gays to pervert the definition marriage. Love the people, hate the sin.

  • Thank you so much. That basically sums up my own feelings!!! Yay for not hating people but knowing what is right and wrong!

  • In a democratic society, majority rule must be coupled with guarantees of individual human rights that,in turn, serve to protect the rights of minorities-whether ethnic, religious, or political, or simply the losers in the debate over a piece of controversial legislation. The rights of minorities do not depend upon the goodwill of the majority and cannot be eliminated by majority vote. The rights of minorities are protected because democratic laws and institutions protect the rights of all citizens.

  • I heartily support protection of individual human rights through California's family code. Rights such as inheritance, hospital visitation, etc. are guaranteed to domestic partners.

One must also consider that when conflicting definitions of marriage exist among individuals and different groups, it is impossible to give each individual or group the right to define marriage for everyone.

The CA Family Code AND Prop. 8 strike the proper balance of preserving all Californians' rights.

    Yes on 8!

  • Domestic Partnerships only apply in the state where they were initiated, marriage is official in everystate. So same sex couples won't be able to move out of California and keep their rights.

  • Actually, a majority of states have already passed constitutional amendments similar to prop. 8

  • It's so sad to see God used and children used and abused in order to spread hate.

  • What a nonsensical premise. Congrats on making absolutely ZERO points.

  • Yes, same sex relationships are going to exist, Prop. 8 doesn't take that away from anyone. But that is a moral issue that I reserve the right to teach to my kids in my own home, my own way. (And please don't call teaching morals "bigotry", that's using the word incorrectly)

If Prop. 8 doesn't pass, I will lose that right. And it has already been happening in some schools in CA. That's why I am voting YES on Prop. 8!

  • I believe in Marriage! YES for families!

  • Wow... I really can't believe that this argument could possibly been seen as valid. No one is saying that you can't believe in the sanctity of marriage. You're welcome to it. However, as a state sponsored, lawfully binding activity, marriage

  • shouldn't be restricted to adhere to any specific religious beliefs. Gays getting married doesn't tread on your beliefs, you don't have to marry someone the same gender as you. What you are proposing isn't just the preservation of sanctity, it's the changing of the legal system to be advantageous to your specific view. You're not just disagreeing with someone's choices (which I think you should have the right to do) you're actually obliterating their right to make that choice.

  • Look people, you're getting confused. Nowhere in the constitution are we required to condone or accept others' beliefs, just to tolerate them. It is NOT intolerant to peacefully disagree. Now trying to FORCE supporters of traditional marriage to forsake their belief in the "sanctity of marriage" is obviously intolerant. Don't be fooled by the rhetoric. Also, no rights of gays are at stake here. Marriage has never been a civil right. Kids are the ones at risk here. Protect the ideal. YES on 8.

  • Ok let's say this law really was about teaching kids that mariiage can also be between a man and another man. What would be the harm in your child being tought that same reality? Cause wether you like it or not its never gonna stop, if she doesn't learn it then she will soon. So whats he point? What are you really protecting your bigotry, to be passed down to your children? I think so!! Keep your morals and religous beliefs out of our Rights and laws, cause there are not mine! Vote no on prop8!

  • "Sanctity of traditional marriage"? Would that be the "traditional marriage" which has a current historical divorce rate of more than 50% within the first 3 years? And also only 14% of California families which actually have this "traditional marriage"? If you want to "protect your children" then maybe you should actually stay married so they can actually have a "mom and a dad"! If you do not believe in gay marriage, do not get into one!

  • "Protected the rights of Californians to believe in the sanctity of traditional marriage"

Just because gay marriage is legal doesn't mean you have to have one. If you don't want to be part of a non-traditional marriage, don't be. You can have whatever kind of family/marriage you want....now, don't you think everyone should have that right?

  • I believe I have a right to teach my children about the sanctity and uniqueness of traditional marriage without the public schools contradicting me.

  • In California do kids have to take a marriage class or something? In Texas, where there is absolutely no gay marriage, I learned equally about heterosexual and homosexual relationships through other students, teachers own lives and the lives of people we studied.

Homosexual relationships are going to exist no matter what it's called. Your kids are going to learn about homosexuality somewhere in life, so if you want them to be bigots you can go ahead and teach them to be bigots.

  • Future First!! Vote Pro-Rights! Vote YES on 8!

  • Last one (sorry!) :)

Also, if "CA is not MA" (according to cryan 71), why did a SF FIRST GRADE class go on a field trip to a lesbian wedding, allegedly for a "teachable moment?" (And my question, were parents notified beforehand about that? Just wondering....)

  • hollyanna2 asks: "And my question, were parents notified beforehand about that? Just wondering...."

The parents arranged the field trip. The kids did NOT attend any wedding met the teachers afterwards on the steps of City Hall, much to the teachers' surprise.

Holly, do you repeat EVERY rumor that is emailed to you or do you pick and choose?

SO many Prop 8 lies. Why should we believe anything they say?

  • To continue:

From the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Amicus Curiae Brief (a leading member of No on 8): "Diversity education is most effective when it begins during the students' formative years. The earlier diversity education occurs, the more likely it is that students will be able to educate their peers, thereby compounding the benefits of this instruction."

The arguments can sound pretty reasonable, and noone wants to be "intolerant," but as for me, I'm not buying it. Yes on Prop 8.

  • Families WILL be affected if Prop 8 fails. The same organization that says they have no intent to force homosexual education in California schools is the organization that fought to not even allow parents an "opt-out" for that same education in Massachussets.

Homosexual couples have all the legal status of any other union. Why are everyone else's rights and religious freedoms now "bigoted?"

In my book, "actions speak louder than words" and "follow the money trail."

    Yes on Prop 8.

  • Thank you for making a video that's unbiased, but concise and to the point. Let everyone have the rights and respect of all citizens. Those who believe that marriage is between a man and a woman have the legal right to protect those beliefs as we did with Prop. 22. No one wants to take away legal rights and/or protection.

  • Religious freedoms will be taken away if Prop 8 doesn't pass. Homosexual rights will not be taken away if Prop 8 passes. Please vote YES on Prop 8 to protect everyone's 1st Amendment rights. No use to argue, the evidence is already in MA and other countries where marriage was redefined. Do you want a father to be sent to prison for his religious beliefs? That sounds like the thugocracy.

If you really were after freedom for all, you would vote YES on 8.

    Look outside your little world!

  • Don't let California become a theocracy like Afghanistan and Pakistan, vote no on Proposition 8.

Protect marriage, vote no on proposition 8.

  • The point of the video is that this is not a theocracy, but rather a community of compromise. Prop 8 restores the balance between gay rights and religious rights struck by democratic means prior to the CA Supreme Court's outrageous ruling.

  • No, Prop 8 removes rights from one segment of the population to satisfy the desires to another segment of the population.

There is no dual agendas of rights.

  • Only when you've explained how religious rights have been curtailed, damaged, or reduced since the Supreme Court ruling this past summer, can you legitimately spout off that nonsense.

Telling gay couples that they cannot have access to legal marriage, again, LEGAL marriage, is not only a really shitty compromise, it also has absolutely NOTHING to do with religious freedoms.

  • Your video is right on. :) It's frustrating that people think "tolerance" only applies to one group. And in response to liebo76, Prop 8 is an enormously important issue for those of us with strong religious beliefs...don't dismiss its importance just because you don't have them. AND Prop 8 doesn't take away any LEGAL rights.

  • Let's not tolerate hate, discrimination and bigotry. Vote no on 8.

  • Protection is not discrimination.

  • No, but striping a particular group of people, because of their own beliefs, of their rights is!!

  • Yes protect marriage, commitment, and family. Vote no on 8.

  • This video is excellent. I can see it is well thought out and executed. I appreciate the time and concern you took to make this video and share with us. Thank you!

  • I find it fascinating that you think this video was well thought out. Personally I'm confused by it. It is supposedly a video in support of the "traditional view of a marriage between a man and a woman". So why is it that there is music playing in the background from an opera scene where a rapist is seducing a girl on her wedding day? Is this video supposed to be poking fun at the reality of "traditional" marriages?

  • Thank you for making such a clear concise video. We really can work together and be tolerant of each others beliefs.

  • Well done. Thanks for putting this together. To liebo76, there is nothing in here (or Prop. 8 for that matter) that questions one's choice of sexual orientation (or even raises whether it's even a choice at all). It simply raises the point about how it's already illegal to discriminate against homosexuals in California and how the verdict of 4 unelected judges overturned the will of the people expressed in 2000.

  • Of course they're unelected. They're appointed. And sometimes it is the job of the Court to disagree with popular opinion if their ruling finds an issue unconstitutional.

  • My sexuality is as much a choice as yours is. Tell me when you choose to be straight. I have known that I was gay since I can remember. Just because you believe that being gay is a choice doesn't mean that it is. You know as well as I do that sexual orientation is not a choice from your own life.

Vote NO on Prop 8 and lets start focusing on enormously more important issues such as education, health care, environment, tolerance, persevering our

  • (I hit send too soon, sorry about that), preserving our equality upheld by the constitution.

  • I think you're confused.

NOTHING has happened to your right to believe in the sanctity and uniqueness of heterosexual marriage.

  • A "no" vote on Prop 8 is a vote to strip parents of their right to have their children taught "the sanctity and uniqueness of heterosexual marriage." Nothing confused about that -- it has already happened in MA.

  • MA is not California. There are different laws and California has a law specifically protecting parental rights. Currently, nothing about gender in marriage is taught and anything taught is in high school.

Why do you Yes on Prop 8 people keep making this stuff up?

  • Hahaha, except that the proposition has NOTHING in it's language about education code, the ruling in In Re Marriage Cases had nothing to do with education code, California education code gives parents the right to opt out of any material involving homosexuality, and more importantly, with ot without prop 8 the schools are not obligated to teach the "sanctity and uniqueness" of straight marriage, and parents have no such right to have such a thing taught.

    Teach religious values yourself.
