  • What are you doing wrong if you feel it more in the biceps area rather then the chest area? I feel my chest muscle when I lift it up, that it is working. But I never really get that good ol pain in them.

  • "It's NOT unusual...."

  • try to smile a little :) cheers

  • does this work your chest?

  • the guy looks so unemployed

  • This exercise actually helped me get rid of my man boobs

  • @MrBewbie

How Long Did It Take You? And How Often Did You Use This Exercise?

  • Awesome video. I see young kids in the gym doing dumbbell press all wrong the time. Good to see you're helping everyone get it right.

  • Thanks man

  • I hate people like @CoreAndGore who think you need to max out or lift really heavy everytime you lift to get your maximum results.

  • this guy is good.....no frills...not trying to show off.....just the facts clearly explained.

  • im 17 years old started training in january-2011 weigh 75Kg and am normal built, just woundering if 20Kg dumbbell in each arm chest press good bad or normal for my weight/age

  • @youngfreedom93 beginners should start with the machines at the gym. The machines teach you proper form and will prevent you from getting injured right after beginning. Using dumbbells comes after you gain experience and learn well proper form. For a bigger chest you should hit the bench press (flat/inclined/declined) and do dumbbell flys 3x a week. After that you should work out the triceps hence they have already been warmed up (but not vise versa). Chest + triceps on same day.

  • @youngfreedom93 it's normal. try to put like 2.5 kg per 3/4 weeks for muscle gain

  • @xnoel now i take 30kilo dumbells on each arm drop set, its a significant gain if you ask me

  • @youngfreedom93 wow, nice man

  • @xnoel tyvm =)

  • @youngfreedom93 for someone whos a smaller build like you ya, especially if you have only been working out for a few months, wait until you hit a year, youll really start to notice a difference, ive been going for 10 months or so and im 13 and i can already do 60 in each arm

  • @gobears541 60 kilos in each arm?

  • @gobears541 pounds

  • @gobears541 Kid, thats 27.3kg in each arm. Probably more than you weigh. Get real you dumb bitch.

  • @ItsPixieDust95 i weigh 150, so no. and its not that hard, if ur older and can't do that and are making fun of me you should be embarrassed

  • Just an open question, I'm wanting to bulk up my chest and of course tone. Do I bulk up for a few months then work on toning or tone as I go? ie two days bulking one day toning or can you even do that in the same workout?

  • @213HBK If you want to bulk up and lose weight, you want to get a healthy, high protein diet started. If you go to the gym 5 days week with a decent diet you should shed weight and build muscle like nobody's business.

  • Thnx for your reply that really helped as I was unsure if you can bulk and lose weight. My main query (altho didn't articulate very well) was, at present I am doing 2 days on with 1 day rest. I do 4 sets of 6-8 reps of heavier "bulking" weights and was wondering at what point should I be doing the 10-12 reps of lighter "toning" weights. Do I wait until I reach my desired bulk, tone on alternate days, or do them in the same workout as the bulking weights? Hope it's not a dumb question

  • I did the toning first, my main goal for when i started was a 6 pack. Once i burnt enough fat i started lifting heavier. I found that 20 minutes on the bike or treadmill before and after (You don't need to do 20 mins, i just did that much because i want to get my cardio up) worked, but you can do the "toning" weights before, during or after your workout. I don't think it makes that much of a difference. Just don't work the same muscles 2 days in a row. Work them on alternate days. Hope this help

  • YES, that helps heaps!!! I only knew not to do triceps before chest, but have been doing the same routine on consecutive days as I didn't know any better.I actually have a friend who is a PT but haven't been able to contact him after the earthquake and as I am doing it at home, I've just been relying on info off the net. The cardio tip helped too, I have a small handful to get rid of and might just get a bike as cardio is my least favourite. Thanks again!

  • thank you for showing this video! Much appreciated... don't listen to the idiots who wish they could be fit like you. They're probably sitting on the couch eating food while they watch YOU work out!

  • thank you for showing this video! Much appreciated... don't listen to the idiots who wish they could be fit like you. They're probably sitting on the couch eating food while they watch YOU work out!

  • is this workout better then with the bar bench press?

  • this guy looks like carlton from fresh prince except super buff

  • This video shows pretty well how to do the dumbbell bench press.

For more info about the dumbbell bench press, check out: youtube.com/watch?v=Or436IF4X1g

  • this guys a fuckign retard, cant explain shit and hes still huge LOL

  • @sdfefde I disagree with you the real retard is you just cause you are mentally retarded and stuck on stupid doesn't mean the rest of us don't get it.you just stick to the WIMP you are meant to be in life .

  • Also, the hands could face each other in the down postion and rotated to face forward at the top .

  • YO CARLTON WASSUP MY NIGGA

  • What's the best way to lean back with DB's in hand that are real heavy??

I always mess my shoulder up trying to pull them down as I lay back or pull them up as I sit up after my set.

  • @jgq85 use your knees to kick the weight up when lifting and when finishing you should just drop the weight on the floor (only if your in a gym and there is rubber flooring) if your at home then keep tensed as you bring the weight down and not flop your body as you could injure your shoulders etc hope this helps =)

  • How long or how many reps would you do of this?

  • I tried this with both heavy and light weights but every time I do it like the video, I don't feel any burn at all. I'm flexing the chest and keeping a proper posture, but I feel nothing. Can anyone give me any ideas?

  • @Fear08MX You have to take the dumbbells right down to touch the edge of the pec.

  • Has to be the most boring chap but he shows atlot of good stuff

  • How can i get this video or eney video on youtube???

  • this guy is doing it wrong!!! he's working out more of his back muscle

  • u make bodybuildin BORING!

  • Check out my vid and get your free guide!!

  • "Not too light, not too heavy"

What the fuck? Lift heavy or GTFO.

  • @CoreAndGore He prolly means dont do something that u can maybe do 2-3 reps...atleast 8 reps...

  • @CoreAndGore aha. YES.

  • @CoreAndGore yeh lift too heavy and get like 2 reps and see no results

  • @th3toiletguy9111111 It depends on what you mean by results. Many powerlifters have a 1x5 routine. If you want to be a pretty boy and not be strong at all then sure, lift 10 lbs 100 times.

  • @CoreAndGore It depends if your training for power lifting, bodybuilding, or some kind of endurance.

  • When you bring your arms back down, aren't you supposed to keep them at a 90 degree angle? I heard it messes up your rotator muscles :-/

  • what sort of exercises would u recomend for a full chest work out, my chest is a little flabby and sort of soft sort of like just below the nipple any suggestions please

  • What does "not too light" "not too heavy mean?" It doesn't help me. Can someone try and tell me what pound dumbbells hes using please?

  • @SMyD77777 I think he means maybe you can lift it maybe 20 times...Any more than that is too light......If you can only lift it 5 times too heavy.

  • can you do this on a bed?

  • lol thts wat i exactly do but i do it the harder way wen i go up i turn the dummbell the other way which is better

  • I form right angles with my elbows. Am I not going low enough?

  • I was recently laid off and became very lazy and i just noticed im getting a flabby chest .how long will it take to get a decent set of pecs ?

  • dang! he makes that weight look like nothin!

  • my body sucks but i can lift that with one arm for biceps... he's using much lighter weights for videos

  • Thanks for your videos they are very useful!

  • What are u talking bout, this exercise is for chest

  • one question. does anyone know if there is a difference between chest press and bench press and if so what is the difference ?

  • @legendstheband there really is no difference except that the chest press uses stabilizer mucles more and its more of a squeezing motion than the bench press. Use both :)

  • how many sets?

  • whats a gd kg of dumbell 2 be using?

  • In English please rxbert24! Do you mean:

"What good will light weights do for you?"

I think you will find this is to show you how to do the form and not about weight. Its call an example!

  • 60kg would be v good

  • Help,this is my workout

    Tuesday, Thursday

5 sets 8 Reps, Chest Press on Machine , Champagnes, overhead, incline dumbbell fly variant, flat dumbbell twist flat press & fly, Shoulders on machine, dead lifts

I run it through a routine, about a minute rest then start the next set i'm trying to gain muscle and mass also add 20 pounds onto myself before next summer, I cut out my cardio, if anyone has any tips help me please, this workout gets me super tired, but i'm not sore, week 22

  • oright mate? iv always heard that your muscle grows when its torn and this is from weights, if your not sore then i assume that you need 2 increase the amount your lifting, have u seen any improvement?

  • @pronation1 i would increase the weight and not do so many sets. You only need 3 sets to ahve an effective workout if your doing everything properly

  • can i do this lyingo the floor

  • best to do it on the floor, this way the floor stops your arms at 90 deg which is where you should stop, will help prevent shoulder injury. if you want to stretch the pecs further do it after your work out.

  • correct:)

  • haha, it's just exercise don't take it so seriously

  • @JayDEUCE86 lol best comment ive seen 2day

  • true but gloves do help when you sweat. i find myself getting huge foreums after hard squezz doing preacher curls and tricep exercises

  • lmao

  • @JayDEUCE86 eh gloves just look cool, haha at least my gloves, i get caluses anyways since they are ripped in the grip and i dont wanna buy new ones since i been through a lot with them 10 dollar suckers, hehehe

  • @JayDEUCE86 True. But I guess you can cut someone some slack when they got a fresh wound on their palm and own textured metal dumbbells?

  • @JayDEUCE86 now you are speaking my language! Everyone who sees my calluses says its nasty or something of the sort but then when they see me work out they know why. :)

  • @JayDEUCE86

    dumb fuck

  • @JayDEUCE86 hell yea get some caluses on those girly hands chumps

  • @JayDEUCE86 taking care of you hands makes you gay? how old are you? 10?

  • @JayDEUCE86 girls prefer soft skin down there :p

  • Comment removed

  • i´m in a wheelchair, I can´t lay on a bench, i don´t have the balance for that. when I do i fall off.

but is it really bad to do them on the floor if I keep an eye on my elbows?

    tnx

  • can anyone help me, i have some dumbells at home for this exercise but when i do heavier the weight hurts the palm of my hands and when i do too light i feel i dont get a good workout

  • hey mate, try using workout gloves or bandages for your hands, also, keep your wrists locked during the exercise so the weights dont scrape your handpalms. Good luck mate

  • great, thx for the advice , apreciate it

i will try as ssoon as possible

  • well do a medium workout

  • get some well-padded weight lifting gloves

  • see if you can find some foam or a soft rubber to put where the handles are.

scream while doing this if you have to lol

  • Yea lol thx. im 16 though and live with my parents, i dont think ill get away with screaming lol.

  • use glove :D

prevent u from hurting ur palm..

  • when i do flat dumbbell press, I can do more reps than when I do incline dumbbell press. For example, I can do 12 reps flat dumbbell press, but when I do incline dumbbell press, I struggle to do 8-10 reps. Why is that? I find that it's quite frustrating really.

  • flats = whole chest/shoulders

incline = upper only, so basically ur using less muscles/power

    its normal

  • its completly normal. everyone can do more weight on a flat bench than an incline

  • what part of the body does this effect?

  • Do you come all the way up or just stop right before the elbows are locked straight?

  • jsut before the elbows are straight, remember to keep up the good, controlled and slow form, 2-3 seconds up and 2-3 seconds down

  • Don't completely lock out your elbows, on any excercise. Lift them up as far as you can, without completely locking out. I don't love this guys form either really. U don't want to bring the weights down to far and "stretch" your chest. Bring your arms down until they're just past parallel with the floor, then back up. Lie down on the bench, stick your chest out, shoulders back. Remember, whatever muscle you are targeting, flex it during the whole excercise. Concentrate on it. :)

  • im pretty sure you stop before your elbows lock then you start to bring the dumbells down again slowly

  • Betoladodgers,

Pushups are great, but once you get strong enough to do 40, 50. 60, 70 or as high as 100 in a row, you are working muscular endurance and definition, not size. Benching heavy amounts of weight in the 6 to 12 rep failure zone will increase muscle size. Dumbbells make it harder because you are using 2 independant weights, relying more on SYNERGISTS (the small supporting muscles). Using a barbell, allows you heavier weights because the weight is 1 entire load, not 2 separate loads.

  • exactly

  • What works better push ups, benching,or doing it the way this guy is doing it?????some1 please answer

  • i think the weights in this vid are around 30-40 probly

  • maybe 15

  • Do you have to do this where your arms have a empty space below so you can bring it lower? Can you lie flat in the ground and do that?

  • Yes, u can lie on the ground and do it too, but, the reason you want the empty space, is to, stretch the pec muscles as far as u can, to feel a greater burn when u contract them. You'll see much greater results, because of this.

  • Thanks Again Mate =)

How Heavy are those ones you use on that video?

    message back thanks

  • great vid cheers dude

  • To all you people saying your trying to loose weight a chest press isnt the answer to that. youve gotta get jogging, cycling, rowing, swimming etc... sweat that weight off.

  • true, but lifting also helps. Lifting huge weight won't but 50 - 70% of your max for high reps is good. You're right though, cardio is honestly the way to lose that weight. Never met a person who didn't lose weight without some cardio.

  • @longjoesilver Chest press is only a bullet in the arsenal of strength training exercises. While cardio is crucial to total body health, it is by no means the "answer" to losing weight. Think of the body as a biological machine, and skeletal muscle as its engine. Generally speaking, as the size of the engine (muscle mass) grows, the more fuel (body fat) it will consume. Strength training and cardio should always be practiced in conjunction, especially when considering weight loss.

  • WILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY

  • Thanks my friend to suggest me a way to increase my chest.

  • Not to take anything away from this guy, but isn't it better to not lock your elbows since you'll be resting, and keep yours arms at a 90 degree when they are down ( or other other you're hitting your back ) I like where i'm at but I see a lot of people use this form and their chest looks good as well, so it gets confusing lol.

  • Great videos learning a lot!

  • is it for chest or biceps

  • chest AND triceps.

  • this guy's the best damn how-to workout guy on youtube for my money.

  • look up scoobydid1 hese the best

  • cool, i appreciate it. ill check it out.

  • hell yeah scoobys the best

  • thanks

  • thanks man. Good video. I know the weight shouldnt be too light or too heavy. For optimum effect should the weight be light enough to be offer better growth?

  • You would want to use enough weight so you can only complete 6-8 reps at a time, and perform at least 3 sets.

  • i kinda have manboobs, lol, anyways would this tear the muscle and make them look bigger for me? should i stick to bench presses sitting up? on a incline bench

  • yes but also do dumbell flys, incline bench press, and decline bench press, for great looking pecs.

  • dont sweat it bro, the muscle will eat through the fat

  • you cant spot reduce do HIIT training for a few weeks with inclines and diamonds with your hands slightly above your head then massage the pecs deeply while flexing them 2 minutes before and after each workout (iron squeeze) on off days flex the pecs while breathing deeply and the manboobs should go away and also watch your diet!!

  • my friend has some sort of manboobs since he started bodybuilding hes trying to get them off but still no result.

can you explain tat iron squeeze thing a little better please? so i can tell him to try it

  • well its before or after a workout what u basically do is flex the pec muscles then wat u do is massage the pec muscles for 2 minutes

  • do u have it?

  • mate. Can you please elaborate on that "hiit" training you mentioned please? i have some fat on the stomach and chest which i desperately wanna get rid of? please advice if u can mate. cheers.

  • hiit training is basically an acronym for High Intensity Interval Training. now that is pretty much doing reps of an exercise say 20 reps and resting for 20 secs long enough that your heart rate slows but not long enough to where it rests. tabatas is an example look them up there are mant tabata workouts

  • good video man :)

  • nice.. just what i was looking for.. easy to understand and straight to the point
