  • @Meredith710 ya what she said ^

  • Hi Sandra, this is my favourite of your videos. I have watched it over and over and over and I am still getting nowhere with the one handed spin at the one min mark. Can you do a tutorial? It's fabulous... like the rest of the clip :)

  • @playfulpup1 I did a tutorial for my online classes.

    my tips:

    - Roll it over your hand along the back moving from the pinky to your pointer. Meaning if you put your hand out in front of you and gave a thumbs down, that's the direction you want to flip the hoop.

    - Practice just getting one full flip in.

    - Practice turning while doing one, trying to work with the momentum of the turn. If you're using your right hand, turn right, if left handed, turn left.

    Hope this helps.

    Much love,

    SaFire

  • I know this is strange question but it doesn't seem like anyone has asked...are your hoops weighted? And if so, with what?

  • Have you ever taken ballet? You're so graceful it wouldn't surprise me.

Great music too, the whole performance is really relaxing!

  • Thanks!

Nope... I have no dance background whatsoever.

I'm hoping to take some ballet, jazz or hip hop classes someday though.

  • This video is all the more astounding given that you have no dance background

But in one of your videos do you not mention some knowledge/classes of belly-dancing, & you have surely practised some yoga?

Are all your skills of movement through practice with hooping?

Your movement of the arms and hands also are excellent

Extraordinary grace of movement. You are hugely talented

Please do post more videos like this! Thank you

  • you are damn good ad this you know that...

  • Hi Safire, I am a newbie hooper and find your hooping tremendously inspiring. I tried to share your videos with my friends in Portugal but you restricted the videos to US and Canada, I guess? I think the rest of the world would like to see you and I definitely would like to be able to when I am back home!! A big hug and all the success :)

  • I have no problems viewing this clip in Ireland. Watching it now. Its wuvely.

  • You are a goddess. This video is amazingly beautiful. You are amazingly beautiful.

  • Perfect!

  • it feels so good...

  • I just watched this video again. I think it's really incredible the way you touch people with your hoopdancing. Very moving. WOW!

  • wow.

  • It gets sooo beautiful in the end!You re just ammazing.

  • Sandra, I am one of your biggest fans. Last year at the age of 54 I watched all of your videos, learned to hoop and do the tricks, and started making my own hoops. I have since given away approximately 23 hoops and have 5 of my own. This is my favorite video so far. You taught/teach me so much and the best part is I've learned to love dancing and moving to music again. I am posting this video on my blog. I hope you don't mind.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Fuck you're hardcore! You would so kick my ass!

    Fuck your boyfriend is lucky!

  • absolutely awesome

  • Rather breathtaking really! You have a unique talent for doing that!

  • So Perdy!! :)

  • beautiful! Looking forward to meeting up with you again at Flow this weekend. :) Cheers

  • you are a beautiful hoop goddess! every extension, every movement just oozes grace and fluidity. that was so incredibly artistic, one of your masterpieces imho. thank you kindly for sharing.

  • We're all from Vermeer's canvases. It's just a matter of light.

  • Stunningly beautiful! I loved the way the light played on every move and the way you sustained and elongated your flow!

  • Amazing! I think the hoop dancing, the music, the sun and setting all work so great together and then your editing adds so much interest and artistry! Its been quite a while since I watched a hooping video twice in a row!

    This is my hoopie vote!

  • that was very good .... i like how grace full that was i just got back from spinning an just relaxed me .... an the way you worked the video too was great !

  • Hands down your best vid yet

  • How do you do the trick from about 1:11 to 1:14 ??

Ive always tried to do that one, but i just cant figure it out! lol

    I cant keep it spinning...

  • I think I know who will win the Hoopy for best hooping vid in 2009 :)

Your hooping is beautiful as always :)

  • just had to feature your vid on my ning! the art of your hooping is beautiful and the editing made it even better! perfection

  • Yay!!! Love the way the light catches the hoop and your body angles. Magical!!

  • Great performance and wonderful music! =3 Five stars for ya, hun.

  • It's a kind of magic...A kind of magic...

  • wow, beautiful hooping (= you're amazing

  • Beautiful, simple set, graceful. :)

  • wow you are my fav! <3

  • What makes this stick out for me is the flow & how you're using your entire body to move the hoop -- even if it's just your hands doing the actual movement, you're entire body is still involved in the motion.

It wasn't until my 3rd viewing that I noticed that the video actually snakes back onto itself & ends up at the beginning.

It has really nice crescendo & decrescendo moments of live hooping to the music & then amplified via editing. And your precision makes it appear 'effortlessly' fluid

  • WoW.

  • wow (again) ur amazing! does anyone know what the trick is called at 1:50 ish i would like 2 learn it! and hulahooper11 i agree with u!

  • Essentially it's a vertical vortex.

    ~ SaFire ~

  • You inspire me!

  • Wow, your style keeps evolving with each video... such grace and control~

  • Wow... So graceful!

  • love it, Really do! You're so aesthetic and beautiful, and love the edition, haha!! Cool

  • this is beautiful! sniff!

  • i can do tricks but its putting them all together into a dance that i find hard to do without looking\feeling like an idiot.

  • watching you hoop really drives me to try harder. thanks for posting!!

  • Great :) keep it up pretty lady ! :>

  • You are amazing. Question: When you're hooping with your iPod like that, where do you put it?

I loved watching all the tricks you've been teaching in your classes coming together so smoothly like that. I need to pick up my hoop and get out and play!

  • Usually in my pocket or I stash it in my bra, but that makes me really lumpy. ; )

  • Ok, cool. I stick it in my bra usually, but sometimes it pinches uncomfortably (but only if I'm not wearing pants with pockets). Thanks!

  • One Word : Beautiful!

  • WOW! That was so delightful! Love the cheeky video playback/reversal bits! Clever and effective. Your posture and lines are gorgeous. Thank You!

  • More elegant every time

  • omg I win

  • I'm the same way. I've seen SO MANY hoop videos. My youtube account says I've watched over 10,000 videos.

That's just counting the ones when I was logged in! That's getting close to a month of my life spent on YouTube. *cringe* Oh well, it's gone to a good cause.

  • WOW! WOW WOW AND WOW!!!! That left me TEARY EYED SWEET SISTER!!!!!!!!!
