Very well done for writing and story, you really start to care about your party members as the game goes on and it has a gut wrenching tear jerker kind of ending. Very beautiful in a sad kind of way.

@vspecialist Because it was made by the same guy who made Final Fantasy. AFter Final Fantasy 9 he lleft to do other games for other Companies. So Final Fantasy dies.

@Jesse12489 Yeah, but as far as a real feeling goes, the final fantasy games really didnt have a scene like this. Aerith's death doesn't compare emotionally to this. The FF series was great though. I liked it up all the way until 10. 11-13 were crap.

when i first saw this scene i was like "man this going to be tough", but then i saw it i couldn´t breath and my throat felt like it was burning and shut with a big rock or something.

i didn´t cry in the usual "snotty" way, but in the "totally in despair, because of so much sorrow and sadness" way

What really makes the scene sad though is the music. If it were just silent (in the background), it would still be sad but the music intensifies the emotion IMO.

I love this scene, I've played through Lost Odyssey two times already and I'm on my third run trying to get some lost items and it still makes me cry. This is one of the best game designers and writers I've ever seen. He really knows how to tug on your heart-strings. I can't count how many times I've cried during this game.

This scene is so emotional. I don't even cry when a sad scene occurs in a movie, but in this game, it was an uphill battle against hurricane force winds to hold back the tears. Whoever did this game's story and presentation MUST have experience as a director.

The saddest bit for me in this scene was when you hear Cooke towards the end scream "wake up". Because I'm an only child to a single mother I imagine that would be my reaction if my Mum died. Just to keep screaming for her to get up.

Probably one of the best games I've played simply due to the raw emotion.

Biggest flaw for me with this game was that it never matches the emotional level of this scene for the rest of the game and this scene occurs so early in the game. I have a very hard time keeping an interest late in the game.

Why they weren't able to keep this kind of emotional depth throughout the rest of the game doesn't make sense to me.

They frontloaded all of it into this scene, then most of it went into the text memories and away from the central plot itself.

But regardless, it's an excellent scene.

Thanks for putting this up. This has inspired me to actually beat this game (someone stopped at about 45 hours in many months ago). Oh, and I think this scene tops the Aeris death scene (it's been 10+ years, if you didn't know, oh well!). It's a shame, most don't even know it exists, because the game obviously didn't sell as much as FF7.
