Hey i do a investigation and i don´t know how smartphone is better the samsung galaxy s - I9000 or the samsung galaxy CAPTIVATE .... my conclusion of the investigation is the two smartphones are the same only depend about taste of the person like the back metal cover for the captivate and the plastica cover for I9000 AND of course the fisical button on front BUT......what do u think i like buy one of this smarthpones and in this point i tend to the CAPTIVATE...what would you think?

Hi, I have only ever heard of apps that have a one off fee, as far as i know there aren't any apps that have a subscription and i am not sure it would be allowed by google anyway.

On top of that the payment will include any software updates too, hope that helps.

Regarding the RAM, as per advertised is says 512MiB but if you press the HOME BUTTON then go to TASK MANAGER and then SUMMARY it only says 326. is the remaining of the 512MiB hidden or what. Can someone please enlighten me with this.

I've had my phone for about six months and didn't realise about the puzzle lock screen, thanks.

Just as a note there is a method available to use the menu and back button lights instead of an LED for notifications, The phone needs to be rooted though. Look on xda-developers.

@lwrancelawweipheng people say task managers are no good. But imo its great if you want to close unwanted programs that are up by mistake. A classic example is if you accidentally open tweetdeck and it is running in the background. It will drain your battery, same goes for other data consuming apps as well.

Basically, the phone wont connect if it thinks you have apps running in the foreground and launcher pro is seen as an app

Download home switcher from the market and use that to change away from launcher pro when you connect to your pc. It is easier if you leave Launcher pro as the default home app.

(makes more sense once you try the app)

I noticed the when u called there were three options answer and two more one said reject call with message... what does that mean/do? does sliding the red phone just send it to voicemail? also is there any option to change the puzzle pieces into something else?

@mdigga39 1. yes when you slide up to reject with message it drops the call and the text message part automatically comes up with a preset message to say something like "im busy now ill call you later" you can send that message with one click.

2. sliding the red to the left sends it directly to voicemail ... pressing volume down turns the ringer off but it continues to call. I prefer turning the volume down because if I drop the call its obvious

3. No way to change the puzzle option.

Now after being on the phone with AT&T they are telling me that the phone is not compatible with their 3g network because it is registering as a gsm phone. does anyone know if there is a way to change that?

@Chukwu67 of course att will tell you that ... because its not an att branded phone so they dont really care to inform you that if you are in an area where the 1900 band is available you will get everything.

@krakheadmon I actually checked the map and there is 850/1900 3G, but when i put my sim card in all i get is EVDO. I really dont know what to do and in about an hour im gonna have to take this thing back if i cant get 3G.

One thing that bugs me about Samsung, is their POOR customer support.

Once you buy this phone they will forget about you.

You'll never receive any update for Android OS (forget about 2.2 Froyo)

Instead they will release another model (for e.g Galaxy S Pro) and old model will be discontinued.

This was their general business strategy (check out old Samsung windows mob models) and it will still be their future strategy.

Unless they correct this, they will loose customers for HTC/Motorola etc.

And using the super amoled screen I have become quite satisfied with its performance. If a 2ghz phone is released this year ... if it has a substantial upgrade in hardware and performance then yes. @brendrt451 battery life is awesome ... and even better when running a task killer like advanced task manager. video calling i havent tried out yet since there are not many people stateside with this feature cept for facetime users. Waiting for fring to work with the galaxy s front facing camera then ill get on skype etc.

@siclusiferx light to moderate usage you can get up to a day and a half to two days.

But if you decide to watch a 90 minute video came ... listen to music here and there and browse and make calls off and on it will be for a day only.

I second this, I expect the scores to roughly be at least 2.5 more than any phone on the market right now, at best they should be about 4 times more. The sgx540 in this phone is whats going to sell it. 90 million triangles/sec phew!!!!!

@beautifulgooal You're right to evaluate how efficient the PowerVR SGX 540 was, because samsung claimed that it can perform 90 Millions triangles but on a mobile device with an LPDDR2 single channel bus it doubt it was true.

And recently it seems that the Droid X raise an higer score while using the ancien OMAP3 chipset ( downsized at 45nm ) with the PowerVR SGX 530

just for evaluate you're true there is not actually games that pushed android phones that much.
