  • @1982seba I eat carp, they aren't as bony as u think, but they are not the best by taste, I prefer largemouth bass

  • are koi good eating? can i buy these guys frozen, instead of alive?

  • @MCDEMC U Sir, are a abomination...

NEVER eat a carp / koi.

1st : very much fishbones (not easy to eat)

2nd : It's not really the tastiest fish.

3th : eating or killing a carp / koi is the biggest crime in the eyes of a koi-lover!!

I am a carp-fisher, and when a respectfull carp-fisher caught a carp, we unhook them on a wet mat, then we weighed the carp, take a photograph and we release them in a safe way back in their water where they live.

  • @MCDEMC

And btw; no, carpfishing is not a stupid hobby.

If it was, well, i'm sorry to inform u that this world counts many fools of my kind!

    Mostly from Europe ;-)

  • @MCDEMC

  • Nuclear Kois, thats cool!

  • @TheRafield - given the current situation in Japan that comment is in very poor taste.

  • ... I know people are in a bad situation, but I only wanted to play a joke on those beautiful fish, not on the people.

  • are the koi eggs allowed to be taken out of the water???

  • Great video. Koi are beautiful fish.

  • Can I get a link to order Sakai Koi, directly from Japan? If possible.

  • i hope the fish farm and the people that work there are okay :<

  • Very nice koi, I love the kohakus sanke Showa n bekkos :)

  • It is really so awsome.... When breeding will all koi fries survive..??

  • @aquazkoi No, its like with all other fish, the strongest will survive. Depending on conditions, water quality, food, and other pond animals it can be that much fish will survive, or otherwise just a little % of them stay alive after a year. But even when much of the fry dies, keep in mind that u only want the strongest anyway. Weak fish easily become sick and can infect other fish.

  • 5:19am Tuesday (JST) - Time in Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

    Theoretical show(KOI)

  • koi fish grow as big as their surroundings. you could get a large aquarium indoors if you live somewhere where you cant keep them outside.

  • hey can u tell me how to know if a koi is amale or a female one........plzzzzzzzzzz

  • ooo man there so big and look so cute

  • If you enjoy unusual koi, we have a video of our beautiful lime-green midori koi! Visit our page! -MidwestKoi

  • Wow! What wonderful fish these folks have...Very nice indeed...I would love to go to Japan and see first hand these beautiful Koi...Maybe someday I will...

  • that is awesome!

  • They grow that big because they're RADIOACTIVE.

  • those are some big fish....

  • Very nice!

  • I can't believe that no one uses these fish for fish feed.

  • how do u buy from them??

  • @ABCba5tard Dealer buy from them and you buy from the koi dealer. unless you want to go to japan?

  • Indonesia has many farm with plenty varieties of koi. You'll surprised with it's diversity even for the newest kind/pattern. Indonesian farmer now (Blitar Koi) also has a good reputation among ZNA judges as a potential source for Beni Kumonryu. Many Japanese koikichi said nishikigoi from Indonesia is the best in the world after Japan. The only difference is at pricing range. You may have only 1:10 price for those "nearest" Japan quality.

  • are these Nishikigoi?

  • koi's are so beautiful

  • Radiation helps produce wonderfull fish.

  • @stuntpenis my thoughts exactly

  • sakai koi babies cost at a minimum of 2000 us dollars EACH full grown adults cost at least 12,000 no wonder they can afford so many ponds -.-

  • thats bull

  • go to Hiroshima and go see it yourself

  • 1 of my goals in life: TO VISIT SAKAI KOI FARM SOMEDAY!!!

  • Will definitely visit someday! :)

  • this is the most intelligent breeder i have ever seen!!!

  • Wow, those are some beautiful fish.

  • wow great job men awesome thi the beatifullb fish i love this fish tank you for video

  • How to order sakai koi??

    Im from philippines...

  • to buy a sakai koi is you make sakay of the plane papuntang japan.. joking.. haha..

  • haha okay thanks ill try that.

  • depends on the size of them

  • ive bought koi about 4 months ago. just wondering why are my koi still so shy? i read online that if i spent time outside with them that they wud get used to having me around but after 4 months they still run. any ideas?

  • don't feed them for a whole 24hour period, then take some food and place it into your hand and place your hand into the water don't let all the food leave your hand...let one or two piece at a time...the koi will come to eat or will start eating....repeat this every other 24 hour period....then after a week or two....the koi should come by when you come out looking for food. your not going to kill it by not feeding it for 24 hours, plus feed them at the same spot.

  • great vid, thanks for sharing

  • I have been considering keeping koi. But because I live in New England, should I relocate my fish to a large indoor tank during the winter months? Or can I install a heater in the pond?

  • Hi, in winter months i leave my koi and other fish in my pond. Last winter was hard, many waters were frozen. But as long as you have good movement in your pond it wont be frozen at the surface (from filter or air-bubbles).

I dont think a heater is nessecary,

(koi)carps are strong fish. i am carpfisher, and i can tell u, there is no other fish that has such a strong will to survive.

  • @1982seba Goldfish are far sturdier than Koi ,Koi are inbred remember to get the different colours they are weaker than wild Carp.

  • yes you will have to move them inside, unless your pond is 5 ft deep or more. When the water reaches a certain temperature, koi go into a state of hibernation. A pond can not reach natural circulation unless it is 4+ feet. (Warm water moving up cold water moving down) This circulation is crucial to keep koi in the hibernation state through the frozen winter.

There is nothing wrong however with moving them inside for the winter. Since this will help them grow. Best Growth Temp is 70-80 degrees.

  • Sick!!! Awsome fish!

  • I love the old man at the end nodding his head as if to say " that's right ,recognize..."

    Orange OGON!!!

  • isnt it a benigoi?? :p

    cheerz

  • yeah Benigoi...true

    It's money by any name...

  • Amazing koi, beautiful video. Too bad we can't carry koi like that- too expensive. But they look fabulous!

  • Great insight to the breeding and rearing of these top quality koi..... professional video.

  • They are the finest Koi , but you'll have to pay high dollar for them.

  • Yes indeed, and honestly, i can not afford huge japanese koi like that

  • no fun in buying a huge koi... the fun is in growing and developing them :D too bad the breeders are clever and never let the top quality fish "slip the net" so to speak :C

  • What is happening at 3.26? Is there something happening they don't want to share?

  • No idea, i guess its just cleaning for when they get the eggs out of the fish or something..

  • @1982seba

the fish is just covered in a towel if even a drop of water hits the eggs before the sperm does then the whole batch of eggs will "open" to recieve the sperm and there will be no sperm and they will not be fertile. so to prevent this water cannot touch the eggs 100%. the sperm is removed and then it is added with the eggs and fertalizes them within a 1 minute time frame. imagine the $ lost if 1 drop of water hits those eggs.....

  • Millions of koi are destroyed every year because they aren't considered to be good quality. Still, millions of salmon and tuna etc. are eaten every day in sushi restaurants around the world so- just for perspective.

  • wow..they're beautiful!! thnx for upload!

  • So sad though that the Original Breeder Mr. Sakai died

  • ive seen this video a million times and im still amazed by it i love koi and them koi are just simply beautifull keep up the good work sakai

  • Was that huge bright orange one at the end (7:42) real?? It was huge!

  • Yes weysst, it's real thing on earth! It names by benigoi. Beni refers to red color, and goi is koi fish. That one is about 1m + long

  • Wow. It's beautiful. I wish I could have some koi but I don't have a pond.

  • what an amazing video....!

  • i love that video, from what i understand from my local petshop(of whom the owner is very religeous)that,s where my 3 butterfly koi come from, and i just got 2 dozen babies last summer. they are gorgeous. now does that make them japanese or canadian?

  • Hi,

about those baby koi's u have; even when the parent koi's are from Japan, the baby's arent japanese koi's in the eyes of an expert. Japanese koi's have been selected (as u can see in the video, only +-4 % of the young koi's are good for selling, all the others is for fish-food. i know, its sad)

  • However, as long that u enjoy ur koi, japanese or not.

In my pond i only have 1 japanese koi, that doesnt make the other koi's ugly :)

I hope my english was good enough to explain this. I'm dutch btw.

    Greetz,

    Seba.

  • it's cool to see how they produce those amazing koi

  • great viewing brill
