I always thought that this song was primarily about needing a particular person in your life. And in a way it is. I lost my Father very suddenly 7 years ago, and one night while I was listening to this song (as it's ALWAYS been one of my favourites) I realized that it's not just about needing a single person in your life, but it's also about needing some kind or spirituality in your life as well.
