How ironic were watching classic 90's commercials with a commercial about 50's commercials ^_^ i hope we can get that one day...on DVD or download lol
@kikyouthekillermiko Most of the ads shown there are staples of public domain compilations...I'd suspect you might be able to find several of them on archive.org.
Yes! OMG I ROFL with the first one!... thanks man for bringing these for free, finally I can recognize the internet is something new which actually makes our lives easier and more entertaining.
Those Zima ads are a bit confusing. We're not going to tell you what it's made of or what it's like, just that it's new and a man in a white suit says you should ingest it till intoxicated. That may work for pill commercials, but is probably a good reason why I've never seen anybody order a Zima.
@80sCommercialVault I knew they had HD Camera technology...I just never knew they were developing an HDTV flat-touch screen in the early 90s. It's amazing how the concept was there in front of us, and nobody knew it.
@moomba445 HD televisions (And I assume, cameras) were first developed in Japan in the late 60's, though at that point the technology wasn't standardized and used a different ratio.
Much of the consumer technology that we consider "modern" or "high-tech" has been around for decades, it just takes a very long time for a lot of this technology to be produced by manufacturers and adopted by the general public.
A nostalgia-geared commercial collection commercialized on a nostalgia-geared commercial collection? Too... much... meta-derp... *head explodes into candy*
@ThePeterAaron Guess I should have wrote a better comment. I know we have video calling and on demand etc. What I was trying to say is regular pay phones are now few and far between. There is really no chance of a payphone with video calling at this point. Not when in a few year every cell phone on the market will be capable of video calling. The ads show you how the advancement of cell phones and internet changed everything.
I actually saw "Jimmy Hollywood" at a (nearly empty) theater. From the ads, I thought it looked pretty good. It wasn't. Not at all. I don't remember much about it, but don't think there's any need to revisit it.
I rarely drank in high school (I was 17 in '94), but even if I did more often, those God-awful Zima ads would have ensured that I would have stuck to beer. I might have drank one in college, though.
@spcmn77 The drug commercials you see with all of the "weird and insane warnings" aren't for over the counter stuff. Those are advertising prescription drugs.
BTW...the only drugs allowed to be advertised on TV back then were over the counter and relatively harmless. The FDA began allowing DTC (Direct-to-consumer) prescription drug advertising in 1997.
@80sCommercialVault A terrible, terrible idea...I'll let my doctor tell me what he thinks I should be taking, not the other way around, thank you very much. Though I have liked some of the ads. I look forward to seeing the Prestiq depressed wind-up doll in a volume of "'00's Commercials" in about 20 years.
Oh my God...ZIMA. The Horror. I also remember the AT&T commcercial. Never used any of the services shown but I like that Jenna Elfman was the mother in the commercial.
gotta love you tube we have generous people who put vintage commercials on here without having to pay for it like those vintage commercials for sale at 0:57
Wow, scary how accurate AT&T's commercial ended up being 15 years later. The Polaroid commercial made me sad since Polaroid is officially phasing out their instant film series cameras... no more shakin' it like a Polaroid picture. :(
That's so cool that the AT&T commercial actually came almost exactly true. We have netflix that can stream a movie right onto your tv, and online downloading of movies. Online classes where you communicate with the professor via webcam. Many people use skype or another video chatting service to talk with there family via webcam from hundreds of miles away.

@moomba445 The 16:9 widescreen ratio was adopted as the standard for HDTV in 1983.
