Filo's Crashmania 2 - Banger Racing for Cancer at Mendips Raceway (with in-car)

i've no idea what crashmania is or banger racing at mendip is for that matter but i grew up with a boy called phil cleverley in the 70s we were at school together and were pretty good mates and im pretty sure this had something to do with him. phil we miss you xxx

@tiddler111 hi. assuming we're talking about the same phil, he was a legendary banger racer at Mendips Raceway near Cheddar. He was a hugely popular driver, always had a great attitude, friendly, committed to the sport he loved and all round a great guy. Sadly Phil passed away a few years ago and the sport remembers him with an annual memorial meeting raising money for cancer research

i'l really try to get over to that this year, will there be a good turnout or do you just find that out on the day?? banger racing here in Ireland is exstint. its a piity cars are getting weaker as it will get harder and harder to get a car for this craic!

@TG1986IRL There does tend to be a good turnout at Crashmania and always some good crashing but it's not the biggest meeting at Mendips - that's Thunderbolt which was last weekend (see my other video). It's usually a good meeting but I'm not sure it's worth coming over from Ireland for. If I was you I'd come over for a meeting that's more guaranteed to be really good like Civil War at Hednesford or Crasharama at Smeatharpe

@pazzer198 cheers for that info! im dieing to get over to see proper banger racing and it would be the perfect excuse for me and the misses to get away for the weekend! i'l look into civil war and crasharama also and what ever date sounds best i'l head for that!

@TG1986IRL crasharama is on bank holiday monday 31st May. civil war is in january and usually freezing (not holiday material). If 31st is too soon, you could try 26th june at Mendips (an all rwd ford meeting which has been brilliant the last couple of years). The Barry Collins memorial at Aldershot on 1st August is supposedly good, never been myself. and blockbusta at st day on 29th august is a great meeting.
