i played it at the GC, necromancer class and fought (alongside the other players) the final boss of the demo, it performance raped the pc systems there big time but it was alot of fun

Well... The graphics look really amazing, but the gameplay seems to be... Boring :/ I know that you all guys are guild wars fans, and that you are all going to hate me, but still, when i look at some videos of Dragon nest on youtube. I think that an action mmorpg such as dragon nest is much more fun then playing guild wars 2, even if the graphics are more like "cute" and not as impressive as in GW2, i prefer waiting for a dragon nest global server then waiting for this game..

damn arenanet needs to stop teasing and release this shit already. now i know its going to take time and their working as fast/much as they can. but im just filled with anticipation for this game. it sounds like theyve worked out all my major disappointments with the original gw. such as the lack of armor customization and the looks of armor. that was my main concern. and the amount of character customization has been bumped up greatly. good job arena net.

But really if this does kill wow and holds the spotlight then I really think it won't be for that long since Blizz already announced that in 2014 they are making a new mmo called titan. Have no idea what it is but it sounds cool.
If each induvidual character had a small effect on their close enviroment.
Like for example, a class(maybe a magic type) who specialises in ice/cold abilities walks into a room and other people think there is a draft of cold air. And more more ice/cold classes that walk into the room the effect grew stronger, maybe even to the point of snowing. I'm not sure how this would playout for other classes and specializations, but it was just a thought.

@codbord2 You don't have to play GW1 in order to understand the storyline of GW2. It's not a continuation of the storyline, it's a completely new story. It just has the same lore etc., which aren't necessary to play the game.
Might sound a little presumptuous, but I must have watched like an hour or two of video footage now and i reckon this could very well be the best game ever. Its about time a PC game came came out that looked ground breaking. I think the last one was Doom lol
mesmer is one of the classes. Trust me, even if I haven't played the game. Not gw1 nor gw2. I checked out mesmer from wikipedia and it said that mesmer uses attackers skills on themselves. Now why to belive me? I saw a video where a guy swings with dual axes and reflected all magic attacks againts enemy mages. So it must be a mesmer. Agree?
im not sure if anyone had thought of this but..there prob wont be an assasin or derv ..rit para..this is like the proph version of gw2 ..they might be in the epansion or somthing
@HazenColones There definitely will be an assassin, and im not sure about derv. But i did see something that looks like a derv in the Gamescom trailer, so I'm not sure. We have 4 classes yet to be reviled, one of which is assassin. Im super excited for this game :)
@masterberkay66 except you could play through the entire game of WoW and beat all endgame raids without ever knowing anything about the story. I did. WoW is more like "here's some bad guys to kill... oh btw, there's a story behind it but it doesn't really matter".
@UCFElCarnicero Yeah the necromancer minions no longer lose life over time but not only that, they can also be summoned without a corpse now. As for the green bar, that's actually life force to enter the Death Shroud state. It's a sort of ability that has your character's spirit leave the body and act as a backup health bar, plus have a new set of special skills only necromancers have in that state.
Unlike other classes, necro goes into Death Shroud instead of the Downed state.
Hope they make the character A.I. better for the release. When he uses the touch skill there shouldn't be an "out of range" poping up. The character should automatically go to the enemy in that case.
The color palette, contrasts, and art direction are amazing and unmatched by any MMOs I have played before. From an art perspective this is unbelievable. Here's to hoping the game will be as fun playing as it is watching it in these videos!

Stop comparing WoW and GW2, if GW2 is like number 1 it IS NOT AN MMO no matter what they say. Sitting in town with tons of people but only being able to play with 5 is not massively multiplayer people, by that definition Diablo 2 was an MMO, which it wasn't.
Don't get me wrong, I loved GW1 and I am excited for 2, but stop calling it an MMO to boost sales.
@Prone2Shadows They have announced, repeatedly, that GW2 will NOT be like GW1 in this respect. There will only be a few instanced areas, mostly related to your personal story, but the main gameplay will be on open areas, where all the other players walk around. In fact, they made it easier to work together without creating parties or stealing each other's kills or loot.
Of course we'll have to wait and see how good it ends up being, but what they announced so far really is an MMO

do you know if they're raising the level cap so much that it will take forever to reach the cap? or are they raising it but it still won't take very long to reach it...? anybody know?
@spnwinchester2 It will take longer than the first game but shortern than most other mmorpgs, it takes about the same amount of time to gain each level, it doesn't take longer to level the higher level you get, the curve stays the same all trough the game.
I was sick of game companies that said "We are going to do this, and that and its gonna be awesome bla bla bla" and in the game, it turned out to be shit. Blizzard does that, NcSoft doesn't.
@redswolf Just FYI, NCSoft is simply the publisher for GW2. They effectively have no say in the development of GW2, because they back off and let ArenaNet do their thing.

Damn, I used to be both a warrior and a necromancer. Now that GW2 doesn't have second professions, I'm gonna kill myself trying to decide which one to choose!
@xxXKetchupmanXxx in Gw1 u could play as Assassin, Dervish, Warrior, Elementalist, Mesmer, Necro, Paragon, Ranger, Monk, Ritualist. that make's it 10 professions.. in the demo the part where u could choose the profession there were 4 available: warrior elemental necro and Ranger. and there were 4 blocked.. so that makes it 8 in the total, witch means that 2 professions won't be available. so.. witch ones? O.o IMO prob monk and paragon.. ^.^
@Lineridarz yeah. one i think is that each race will have it's exclusive Profession. like the dwarfs were the only one that could be monks or the humans the only ones that could be assassins.. something like that.. Dunno though.. well just have to wait ;)

@HazenColones There definitely will be an assassin, and im not sure about derv. But i did see something that looks like a derv in the Gamescom trailer, so I'm not sure. We have 4 classes yet to be reviled, one of which is assassin. Im super excited for this game :)

@masterberkay66 except you could play through the entire game of WoW and beat all endgame raids without ever knowing anything about the story. I did. WoW is more like "here's some bad guys to kill... oh btw, there's a story behind it but it doesn't really matter".

@dracomasta13 On the GW2 official website, if you go to the Necro page, it says that the weapons a Necro can carry are:
Main Hand: Axe, Dagger, Scepter
Off Hand: Dagger, Focus, Warhorn
Two-Handed: Staff
So you could have 2 Daggers or an Axe and a Dagger, as melee weapons, and still summon minions :D

@UCFElCarnicero Yeah the necromancer minions no longer lose life over time but not only that, they can also be summoned without a corpse now. As for the green bar, that's actually life force to enter the Death Shroud state. It's a sort of ability that has your character's spirit leave the body and act as a backup health bar, plus have a new set of special skills only necromancers have in that state.
Unlike other classes, necro goes into Death Shroud instead of the Downed state.

Hope they make the character A.I. better for the release. When he uses the touch skill there shouldn't be an "out of range" poping up. The character should automatically go to the enemy in that case.

The color palette, contrasts, and art direction are amazing and unmatched by any MMOs I have played before. From an art perspective this is unbelievable. Here's to hoping the game will be as fun playing as it is watching it in these videos!

@kibo357 WoW is popular because so many people with shitty computers can run that game, and so no GW2 will not "fuck up" WoW because the majority of WoW's subscribers cannot even play GW2 because of their lack of hardware. WoW will remain strong for many years to come, and Blizzard is working on an actual next-gen MMO code-named Titan that will wipe the floor with games like Rift, Tera, GW2 and every other MMO when it is released.

Stop comparing WoW and GW2, if GW2 is like number 1 it IS NOT AN MMO no matter what they say. Sitting in town with tons of people but only being able to play with 5 is not massively multiplayer people, by that definition Diablo 2 was an MMO, which it wasn't.
Don't get me wrong, I loved GW1 and I am excited for 2, but stop calling it an MMO to boost sales.

@Prone2Shadows They have announced, repeatedly, that GW2 will NOT be like GW1 in this respect. There will only be a few instanced areas, mostly related to your personal story, but the main gameplay will be on open areas, where all the other players walk around. In fact, they made it easier to work together without creating parties or stealing each other's kills or loot.
Of course we'll have to wait and see how good it ends up being, but what they announced so far really is an MMO

@spnwinchester2 It will take longer than the first game but shortern than most other mmorpgs, it takes about the same amount of time to gain each level, it doesn't take longer to level the higher level you get, the curve stays the same all trough the game.

@redswolf Just FYI, NCSoft is simply the publisher for GW2. They effectively have no say in the development of GW2, because they back off and let ArenaNet do their thing.

@xxXKetchupmanXxx in Gw1 u could play as Assassin, Dervish, Warrior, Elementalist, Mesmer, Necro, Paragon, Ranger, Monk, Ritualist. that make's it 10 professions.. in the demo the part where u could choose the profession there were 4 available: warrior elemental necro and Ranger. and there were 4 blocked.. so that makes it 8 in the total, witch means that 2 professions won't be available. so.. witch ones? O.o IMO prob monk and paragon.. ^.^
