@WaCoproductions East India Trading Co. was not "exempt" from the tax. All tea coming into Boston legally was from East India Trading Co., and it was all taxed. But it was also subsidized (much like gasoline today), so it was cheaper even with the tax than the smuggled tea that people like John Hancock were bringing in.
@FreedomTrailBoston The East India Trading Co made up for it by running opium for the Oligarchy...so it worked out just fine for em.
Sam Adams was a member of the True Born Sons of Liberty...that performed this terrorist act...and would drag the tax men out to be tared and feathered...
The Boston Tea Party was generally a petition against the King of England's unjust taxation, which caused the Bank Of England's tea exportation loan to be immediately defaulted. As for the colonists, there's something else they didn't do right for this. In the original Boston Tea Party, the colonists dressed up as Indians.
It gets easier the more you hear of him. By the way, this is the second time I've corrected you and I hope you haven't found it annoying. That's certainly not how I intended for it to come across.
It would work great being heard before a NEWS FLASH segment with Kermit reporting about a cookie truck accident (that would probably be caused by Cookie Monster) ;)
Who is that frog at 2:10? What year did the Boston Tea Party happen? There was no "Sesame Street" in 1773. What year did this "Sesame Street" skit originate? By the way, what year did "Sesame Street" premiere?
Upon closely listening to the voices in this sketch, it sounds like Kevin Clash is performing the man with the turnips and Richard Hunt is performing the woman with the tiara.
@PatPlayjacks Actually, Richard Hunt played the man with the tamales. I don' know who played the woman with the tiara. What exactly is a tiara, anyway?
pual rever was in the boston tea party and after it happened the harber got closed

"Why is it that I'm the only frog in broadcasting that has to put up with this, huh?"
Duh, because you're the ONLY frog in broadcasting, Kermit!
The guy voiced by Jerry Nelson sounds like Harry Monster with a cockney accent. lol.

thats not the reason. The real reason is that the East India Trading Company was exempt from the tea tax.

This part of Boston is Griffin's Wharf, and they still do reenactments of the Boston Tea Party for the tourists and locals.

Notice how when they come back with the tea bags, among them is a pink muppet boy who wasn't there before.

Almost. But I believe Clash is the turnip guy and Bob Payne the tierra woman. Someone below told me. I was unsure about those two myself at first.

Also, I see no evidence to suggest that the blue guy is Ben Franklin. What gives you that idea?

No, he didn't. I think the blue guy is supposed to be either John Hancock or Samuel Adams, who were the leaders of the "Sons Of Revolution".

This sketch premiered sometime between 1987 and 1989. In answer to your other question, Sesame premiered in 1969.
classicssmfan 3 years ago
This news flash segment I believe is either from 1987 or 1988, and Sesame Street premiered in 1969.

Yes, but the News Flash segments premiered in 1971 and continued until 1991

Anyone know who voice the man with the turnips and the woman with the tiara?
Garrettk41 3 years ago
Upon closely listening to the voices in this sketch, it sounds like Kevin Clash is performing the man with the turnips and Richard Hunt is performing the woman with the tiara.
PatPlayjacks 3 years ago
Well you're probably right about Clash, but I don't think Hunt is the woman, because I'm almost certain he's the guy with the tamales.
Garrettk41 3 years ago
I think Richard Hunt played the guy with the tamales.
muppetfan33 3 years ago
@PatPlayjacks Actually, Richard Hunt played the man with the tamales. I don' know who played the woman with the tiara. What exactly is a tiara, anyway?
muppetfan33 1 year ago
@muppetfan33 She was performed by David Rudman, who also sounded like Numberella's stepmother.
Deanmo23 7 months ago
I think that the woman with the tiara is voiced by Bob Payne.
