Thank you (Translation- Incredible, Holly gives a great testimony of what God can do with the help and care for their children, my daughter also suffers from this, and seeing this video I've filled a lot of hope, thanks Holly, you're an example for my God Bless You and all the people who helped you succeed, I greet you from Honduras in Central America)
i think i was logged in on someone's account, not mine(?)when i commented on Holly's video. My comment starts with my daughter is 17 now... sorry if this comes up on someone's account.
Thanks, Thats ok, I'll put it here; My daughter is 17 now, but these videos of Holly look like our home movies. Tell Holly to keep going! Its a lot of work but really worth it. And to Ian, bravo for working outside of the box!! My daughter and I returned from treking the Incan Trail to Machu Picchu a few months ago. She decided she would do something impossible. She did and keeps on proving that 'Anything Is Possible.'
I have a 7 year old daughter that has recently been diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia - I am an Occupational Therapist and have been working with her since she was 3 months old - she also receives OT, PT, and ST at her school...our progress is slow and I would love to know more about the treatment methods involved - are there any DVDs available for purchase...are there any courses offered in the US...would you treat my daughter if we came to Australia...please help - we are desperate!!
My daughter has unilateral hypoplasia of the cerebellum. She will be 4 this June and still has balance issues. She had strabismus surgery and shortly after began to walk when she was 2. My question is if you have seen delays with bowel and bladder control/ potty training. We have tried all of the traditional methods of training to no avail. So I am wondering if the cerebellum is responsible for muscle control, could this too be affected? We do not see any specialists for this other than a neuro
Hi There Tiffany, yes I have seen bladder control issues, I will email you to discuss further. I have observed that some circumstances that the automated control of some component of bladder bowel function appears to have a Cerebellar component. Also In 2010 there was a study by Zago et al called: “Cerebellar pathology and micturitional disorders: anatomotopographic and functional correlations”. This showed a link between the cerebellum and bladder control.
Hi, Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a where a part of the brain (the Cerebellum) is too small. 'Plasia' means cells and 'Hypo' means 'not enough' so Cerebellar Hypoplasia means a Cerebellum that has not enough cells and is therefore physically smaller than usual.
So it is to do with the brain, but in addition, as you observe it is muscular. This is because the Cerebellum, while it does not determine where you decide to move your muscles, does help the brain to move them in a co-ordinated smooth manner
I actually found some abondon kittens with Cerebella Hypoplasia. I was looking to see how much they would learn as they are little kittens right now and not that great with movement! (Hence they fall over alot) Yet still so happy and silly little things. I ran across this video looking for other kittens like this but I am so glad I did. This young girl is so beautiful, strong and brave! What an improvment!
That was amazing as she got better, her gait got smaller and she dropped her arms and she walked with more balance...if she's running now she must be doing really really well. i;m happy for her, thats a big obstactle to overcome
My little brother was diagnosed with this when he was born, the doctors told us he was one of only a few cases in Scotland, and that he would NEVER walk like we do or talk like we do.
He is now 15, and still we have never met another child with CH. But I can tell you now he has become such an able and talkative boy. He has come so, so far. He still has difficulty running, and his social skills are a couple of years behind what they should be, but my family and I are so proud of him :)
Hi, I have been able to assit a number of people in the UK, USA and NZ by communicating via video conference. Face to face is optimal but I have been able to assist some people nternationally. I will be visiting the USA in March 2011 as well, and may be able to make an additional trip in the UK if there is enough demand. Having said that, 20 months of age is a little too young for me to assist but please do feel free to email me or phone me on the number on the video.
My son has cerebellar hypoplasia. Are you Holly's parent? Would you please contact me? I've never met anyone else with the same condition. Talking to you would be very helpful. Thank you!
Hi Ale, we also have a son with cerebellar hypoplasma, he is now 10 years old. He has improved so much in the last 2 years. If there is any thing we can do for you just post us.

Amazing!
Holly sure is working hard.
I hope she'll get rewards for it and become truly happy :)
(although she already seems very happy)
Is there a cure to this ilnness?
Its a little similar to the spinocerebellar ataxia.
(i originally searched for this, but i also watched this because it seems familiar.)
I'm glad that there are so many people encouraging her!
With this, she'll blossom like a flower !! :)
Bless her and her family!
