I know it is futile to try and analyse genius - which is what Jerry undoubtedly is - but a small part of it has to be something to do with the intense but relaxed effort of the act of creation. Also - as WC Fields accurately observed many years before rock n roll, "Attitude is everything!"

don't be an amateur...it's about the piano skill at this point. only amateurs 'need' physical stimulus'! you cannot dance around and play like this at the same time. take your pic. his earlier stuff where he's all over the piano, standing up, dancing around, etc, does not have this kind of skill in the music. just a thought....
