  • They should be open fishing all year round, sold in restaurants, pet stores, sold in fish markets. They are edible and also make pretty pets. Opening to the public market will definitely slow their destruction of coral reefs.

  • If they moved naturally and were not introduced, then I think it's part of the circle of life, and it's not in our right to disrupt it.

  • I wish all the lionfish were where that BP oil spill off the Gulf was. I knew some very bad lionfish.

  • Maybe we can eat them? Or how about using their toxin as a pain killer. I'll try it.

  • @drumheadcircle they are supposed to be good eating. we just went down for lobster in the keys and were told so but didn't go out because of weather.

  • Kill 'em all

  • Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew...Lionfish!

  • have unlimited fishing season, no limit. then call in the mexicans

  • We do humans feel like they have to control nature?

  • As this type of fish has no natural enemies, people will have to

focus on catching these and so, try to bring the population under control.

Where I'm from, an open fishing event was organized on a Saturday

under he supervision the Dept. of Agriculture & Fisheries for a

couple of hours, to catch as many lion fish as possible.

The catch was counted and registered after which it was cleaned,

fried and served to those who participated in the catch.

A total of 79 lion fish were caught.

  • @TheGipoman We get here at Grand Cayman an average of 500 per event. Last took place last Saturday. Just today I got two. I finished eating them maybe 10 minutes ago.

  • Call in jaws.

  • I think human beings should stop trying to "eradicate " anything even invasive species. because other species of animals seem to suffer during these "eradications". it failed with the snakehead, and that started in a lake . It failed in the great lakes when they poisoned the lake michigan i think and only successfully killed nothing .so you know lets introduce toxins into the largest body of water on earth........what could possibly go wrong? just the opinion of one person i guess.

  • what happens when they poison you? do you get drunk or what.

  • @1peiceaznboi The poison is in the spines. If stung, you'll feel usually just pain, quite intense that will last for hours/days. In most cases that is the only sign/symptom. Some people experience shallow, localized skin necrosis (death of the skin). It is not lethal, but painful and dangerous enough to be a concern.

  • @GerardoOchoa Thanks for replying! Now I know how it feels like to get sting.

  • I lov Lionfish nd well at least ill know tht in a 1000 years it wld still be on Earth..

  • @knisleyfilms um not to be mean but are you retarded lionfishes are extremely poisonous but that would be a cool fish LOL

  • There are ways to adapt these guys to aquarium temperatures. They are so beautiful and I believe that the point of this video is that the natural order of things has been messed up by global warming. Were the corals not bleached, lion fish food would be harder to find and they would not have hostile takeover because their prey could hide in all those pretty colors! I really hope the oil doesn't kill them though and we just have some really cool fish tanks and exhibits and we protect the earth!

  • Hey idiots, why don't you take care of snakeheads, and silver carp first? thats already in the us

  • @hoardpm they are expensive in aquarium stores as thay are bred in captivity as the wild ones will not be suited for an aquarium enviroment.

  • i got mine for 35 bucks, but mine was way overpriced. the average volitan costs on average 25 bucks for a good sized fish

  • if there are so many. why do they cost so much?

  • spotted one in freeport, bahamas in the beach in front of the radisson our lucaya reef village

  • Them Fucking fish took over our beach and now we cant swim :(

  • @Bondsakakevon kill them?

  • I'll take 4 off your hands if it's such a problem! I wanted to buy one a few years ago to find out those fish go for thousands of dollars. Start catching them and sell them cheap!

  • @KanWoo76 more like $45

  • funny how the populations of the fish we don't need are exploding while the fish that we do need are dwindling. Look up the population explosion of the jellyfish and the coral eating star fish.

  • I think lionfish were spotted in BVI in the Tortola area.

The fish look cool but can destroy a reef if left to feed off the fish who keep corals going.

  • How we Compeer between male and female for lionfish?

  • Lionfish ?

  • Hey I know a good way to lower their population, blow up a BP oil rig in the golf of Mexico.

  • I don't see why we have any right to kill anything living.. they should just spread them out in the billion or more aquariums that exist on earth

  • @LionGoddess1 Every living thing has its place, when something is out of place, it can destroy what belongs there. The lionfish belongs in the Pacific, in the Caribbean, there is no place for it, it destroys large numbers of native fish upsetting the balance of what does belong here. There are far too many of them and they are too dangerous to handle alive for the aquarium trade to be a viable option for dealing with this problem. They taste awesome too.

  • nobody seems to care about the HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP!? THERE WAS EVEN A MOVIE ABOUT IT IT CAME OUT IN 1980 WATCH IT!!! U WILL FREAK OUT!

  • Funny how once someone sees an animals population growing rapidly they FREAK

and they say they're spreading like a horde of locusts

but they never mention anything about human population.

I mean there's only somewhere around six billion humans on earth (not counting children) so clearly humans aren't at a population crises.

358,192 births and 154,889 deaths as a daily average?

sounds pretty reasonable considering how large we are so clearly we don't need much space or food, oh wait, we do...

  • r they dangorus?

    please anyone

I cant find a documentry about them

  • @f11R2 lion's have poisonous fins but are not as venomous as you may think. Imagine a slightly stronger beesting

  • We need to kill them. Just take them out of the water for a couple of minutes.

  • lol...i take the lion fish off of them anyday and put it in my tanks

  • i think just sell them at wallmart

  • @knisleyfilms if you sold them at walmart they would most likely hurt someone and promote illegal trade on the black market thumbs up if anybody agrees with me.

  • You should either eat the fish after you kill them, or invent lionfish fish food. Then you can just feed them that instead of fish. And guninhatersdown, why would you say you speared fish hunters? And your excuse is very funny. So i guess your just saying your words just to show what you feel like, or your just a kid. :P

  • Humans should be held responsible for reducing the fish population

  • Yo fucking humans are stupid as shit, who the FUCK put humans in charge of animal population increase/decreases, let nature take its course you stupid fucks

  • Nicely said you "Stupid Shit" =P

  • ok, so we just need a predator type fish to help control the population of these lion fish... oh wait. that would be a shark. i guess we've already screwed that one up:P oops

  • but lion fish have no natural preditors the shark would just leave it.

  • duude they should get more and sell em!.. everyone wants em and they should be cheap

but the only set back is that their poisonous

  • Just saw one this morning off the coast of Trelawny, JA.

  • They have just been spotted in the waters around the BVI so they are definitely spreading south.

  • man i really want one as a pet...

  • Did anyone else notice how that one guy was pushing the other at 2:40. Like that little fish is about to attack him or something. LMAO

  • hey guess what moron.

that "little fish" can kill you

that venom gives a painful sting, but if you're allergic you're dead.

  • Contact your congress person and urge them to vote no on HR 669.

  • Maybe this is a sign that we should leave the oceans alone and not overfish because something like this could happen, finally, nature sent a fish that can be dangerous to humans.

  • BBQ these Lion fish!

  • i heard roasted lionfish r tasty,

u must cut off the poisonous spines while coocking it,

  • You will almost never hear me say this. But, prehaps they should promote wild caught lion fish for sale in stores. These fish are very expensive in aquarium stores.

  • yeah and making it cheap too....

  • why not? they're hardy and can live up to 10 years in captivity and very peaceful to fish that arnt small enough to eat.

  • Who put the lionfish in those waters? Probably friends of the NWO who want to kill off the human race.

  • well supposably what happened is during a hurricane it smashed a huge tank containing hundreds of lionfish which spilled into the waters and they made massive amounts of offspring

  • actually supposedly what happened was that it was started by only three lionfish from a local tank.

  • nuke em!

  • netting them isnt going to do it. they reproduce by the thousands if i remember correctley.

  • CRAB PASTE !!!

  • there presence have been reported too where i live (Puerto Rico) on the east side near Icaco island since 2002 but in 2007 they were beginning to spread

  • iv had ur mothers fishburger

  • yay lionfish are beautifull! leave them alone fuckers!

  • Comment removed

  • oh so you'd rather have a invasive lionfish species that consume around fifty important fish a day in the Caribbean than have the natural fish that are supposed to be there? and yes, they're beautiful, but don't you think that other fish are to? this is becoming a huge problem for the enviroment and people alike

  • easy said easy done right ,,,but when someone loves these fish ,,and doesnt understand you ,,u will get fucked up check the news and see how many fuckers we are spearing a day here in playa del carmen mexico q,roo biatchhh

  • lionfish - taking over baby!

  • fishburgers anyone?
