These cars don't deserve to be treated like this. The 2.5v6 engines aren't the best (i Know cause I have one) but they still pull their weight really well. The 2.0 420a is pretty strong for being a four banger and with a stick shift are really fast!. What I'm trying to say is that these cars are more for style than performance (unless you got lots of money to blow). Wash'em and wax'em and they are just fine.

@noobifile i agree, i own a 96 avenger es 2.5 with over 174,600 miles, and it runs strong and shifts fine. The a604 tranny has a limp home mode that only allows it to use the 1st two gears when the tranny control module sees that a sensor has gone bad. A lot of people think that the tranny has given out when this happens and try to rebuild the tranny or replace the TCM when all they need is some tranny fluid or a new sensor, lol.

2.0 engines arent mitsu they are chrysler u can tell by the placement of the pulleys wether or not it is mitsu if the pulleys are on drivers side its mitsu if not then its chrysler ur motor is a 420a same as mine the mitsu version is like 4g3a or some crap like that
