@eclypso no need to be so defensive. Yes, we all know that there are no "wrong chords" in jazz, but we're talking about a transcription here. And yes I know the tune very well. I go by my teacher's transcription, because he played it with Wes. His name is George Benson.
@bluewaterpig That's just the thing. It is NOT a transcription here. I don't play transcriptions. It is just a guy (me) making music by playing a particular tune. If I like the sound of a flat 9 leading into the resolved Fmaj chord then I'm at complete liberty to play it that way without it comprimising the melody or the harmony. Just like if I paint the sky and choose a different shade of blue from you or the next guy. ....
I'm not being defensive, I'm trying to make a point that you may be missing the forest for the trees. It's all kind of silly though because I'm basically playing the chords you mentioned anyway. 1st two are the same, 3rd I play a voicing which could be called either an altered C7 or an altered Gm (interchangeable). It's all just a ii-v-i to F so there are a hundred ways one might choose to voice those chords while keeping the melody/harmony intact.
@bluewaterpig be sure to tell Keith Jarrett about all the wrong chords he plays too. Don't worry, I know the tune well, do you? btw, the 1st chord I play is in fact a Gm7

It isn't that hard to do by ear. It's a good way to study too. I've grown accustomed to her face & Unidentified guitar solo are good ones2. Good Job Kevin and very nice sound.
Beautiful. Is this a new instrument r an original? I'm looking for one and would appreciate your advice on the newer models (2004 available to me now.)
Man that was so nice! I came home with an EXL-1 today. I'm luvin' this guitar. I spotted it yesterday in a music store on the way home from work. I did some YouTube research last night and found your video. Definely convinced me to check this guitar out. I went back to the store this morning with my Epi Joe Pass Emperor in hand for a trade in and closed the deal. I can't keep my hands off this guitar! One of my best purchases ever.
Excellent job! I use the same guitar through a Henricksen JazzAmp 10r. Am taking jazz guitar lessons (studied classical guitar for 8 years). Did you arrange this transcription of "Leila" yourself, or do you know where I can buy the musical notation? I read both music and tab.
I play jazz for a living in the Raleigh-Durham NC area. Check my website for calendar and if any of you are ever in the area, come to a gig and say hi.

talk to your teacher about it. He definately knows what I'm talking about.

First 3 chords of the head are not diminished (or 7b9) shapes like you're playing. It's Gm7, F#dim7, Gm7, C13#11, C9, Fmaj7.

Awesome. There are those who say Wes was overrated, and those who say he was underrated. I'm in the latter camp, and this rendition swings kings.
