Don't think they influenced Metallica? Lars said it himself in the documentary. However, this performance of metal on metal sucks. I don't know if it was the mixing or the fact that Lips (singer) just lost his voice, but it doesn't do justice to the song or to Anvil

You take Maiden, Priest, Metallica, etc, they would ALL sound like shit mixed by these dickwads!

The problem with Anvil always was they were too cheesy fro true metal fans. I remember seeing them a few times opening for great bands and thinking, they are .."okay'. Better writers, producers and more sound..who knows, they could have been bigger. They sure had a shitload of chances.

Management can either help a band or totally screw a band over.

I remember me and my sister laughed so hard when watching this clip on the Wacken video back in '99. The vocalist seems almost like in a trance..and the slurring of speech and headbanging, + off course watching this guy from behind the last seconds of the clip, showing off his lack of hair.. Hehehe, it's just insanely funny. The song is really naiv, which makes it even more funny.
These guys started everything. They are huge influence to Metallica, Slayer, Guns n Roses and a lot of other great bands. If it weren't for them we wouldn't had gotten some masterpieces of metal as released. They made a important contribution to music, especially trash and heavy metal and deserve a shit load of respect for that. There are million of bands arround the world coping the style they helped to create without even noticing it.

this particular vid isnt good cause they foucused the voice and took the crowd out. and the music went with the crowd, so his voice isnt blended with the crowd or music (lol crowd in 3 times in a row) imean if you take andy singer and just take all the music away, the singin will sorta sound like shit(sometimes)
Well, still, there was such potential for them. But what I like about this band was they never gave up and in the end, they finally made thier dream come true and that a fact. They had pretty cool songs, too, COW546. They just needed to be pointed to the right direction with a little help and they got it and I'm glad their living thier dream.
I can think of a couple of reasons why they never made it... Metallica ,slayer anthrax and megadeath and other 80s metal bands had beter songs thats just my opinion
@COW546 IMHO Anvil was just a little ahead of their time some of the bands you mentioned call them an influence on the style of music they play. I'm happy as a Canadian myself to see them get some recognition...finally. Don't get me wrong even if I weren't Canadian I would still love what they did for Metal.
DEANVX93, I dissagree. Anvil is a great band. iloNoli, I do admit, guys, this is not exacly the best I heard from LIps. But he did sound better on that metal show, though. But other than that, these guys are great and I'm glad they are finally getting thier big break, and now touring around the world for their new album. Personally as a metal fan, someone should have told me about this band a long time ago.
slayer,metaliza,and megadeth were all fans of anvil. their music is part of what helped inspire them to want to play live shows. If you like those bands why not give anvil another listen, cause if your fav bands like anvil why in the shit don't you haha

well, actually metallica were more influenced by diamond head than anyone else. Slayer were more venom. death was slayer and possessed. testament's was metallica. so.....not that much anvil. just saying.

All the founding members of Metallica created at the time the only american Motorhead Fan club, and to this day recognize Motorhead as being one of the most important founding fathers of heavy metal, which is true because theres no band like Motorhead, they just fucking rule the world!

I saw the movie. Cant believe I never heard of these guys. I hit so many shows, big and small in the eighties, but never saw this band. They seem like really good guys but lets face it, they were no Iron Maiden, Scorpions or Judas Priest. Don't think they would hang with the likes of Armored Saint, Y&T, or Riot (not Quiet Riot) either to name a few..Great story though, rock on ANVIL...
I saw these guys in Austin, TX. It was very good and the drummer, Rob Reiner, had a bad ass solo!!! After the show, they all came out and wanted to meet EVERYONE!!! Very nice guys.

replying to the question no its was not made for comedy their was a plot/story to be told about them and their amazing journey, however that makes no excuses and i know more than a little bit about heavy metal and realize that in my opinion they got all that was deserved of them as far as attention to their music i have looked far into their music not just a dumb decision off of this one video and also just an opinion, an oppinion not influenced by some of my other favorite bands
They´ll come to Brasil next april - i didn´t know nothing about this band, but to me they seem very good -

this particular vid isnt good cause they foucused the voice and took the crowd out. and the music went with the crowd, so his voice isnt blended with the crowd or music (lol crowd in 3 times in a row) imean if you take andy singer and just take all the music away, the singin will sorta sound like shit(sometimes)

Well, still, there was such potential for them. But what I like about this band was they never gave up and in the end, they finally made thier dream come true and that a fact. They had pretty cool songs, too, COW546. They just needed to be pointed to the right direction with a little help and they got it and I'm glad their living thier dream.

I can think of a couple of reasons why they never made it... Metallica ,slayer anthrax and megadeath and other 80s metal bands had beter songs thats just my opinion

@COW546 IMHO Anvil was just a little ahead of their time some of the bands you mentioned call them an influence on the style of music they play. I'm happy as a Canadian myself to see them get some recognition...finally. Don't get me wrong even if I weren't Canadian I would still love what they did for Metal.

DEANVX93, I dissagree. Anvil is a great band. iloNoli, I do admit, guys, this is not exacly the best I heard from LIps. But he did sound better on that metal show, though. But other than that, these guys are great and I'm glad they are finally getting thier big break, and now touring around the world for their new album. Personally as a metal fan, someone should have told me about this band a long time ago.

slayer,metaliza,and megadeth were all fans of anvil. their music is part of what helped inspire them to want to play live shows. If you like those bands why not give anvil another listen, cause if your fav bands like anvil why in the shit don't you haha

well, actually metallica were more influenced by diamond head than anyone else. Slayer were more venom. death was slayer and possessed. testament's was metallica. so.....not that much anvil. just saying.

All the founding members of Metallica created at the time the only american Motorhead Fan club, and to this day recognize Motorhead as being one of the most important founding fathers of heavy metal, which is true because theres no band like Motorhead, they just fucking rule the world!

yeah, maybe their music is on the corny side, but what about Priest and Maiden?
If anything, they are as good, even better in musicianship than these bands. Rob totally kicks ass on drums; they're all good if you ask me.

I saw the movie. Cant believe I never heard of these guys. I hit so many shows, big and small in the eighties, but never saw this band. They seem like really good guys but lets face it, they were no Iron Maiden, Scorpions or Judas Priest. Don't think they would hang with the likes of Armored Saint, Y&T, or Riot (not Quiet Riot) either to name a few..Great story though, rock on ANVIL...

I saw these guys in Austin, TX. It was very good and the drummer, Rob Reiner, had a bad ass solo!!! After the show, they all came out and wanted to meet EVERYONE!!! Very nice guys.

replying to the question no its was not made for comedy their was a plot/story to be told about them and their amazing journey, however that makes no excuses and i know more than a little bit about heavy metal and realize that in my opinion they got all that was deserved of them as far as attention to their music i have looked far into their music not just a dumb decision off of this one video and also just an opinion, an oppinion not influenced by some of my other favorite bands
